I haven't seen the movie but I love the premise. A few years later I want to see a reboot that's actually good. Like other people are saying, "bye bye man" should be a fake name they call it so they don't have to say it. And those who learn it's true name are killed or something. That makes it easier for people to talk about the character and spew exposition without having to die instantly, and could add tension because if simply "thinking about it" would make you a target, the fake name can only help so much.

The reason this movie was interesting is because it was actually based on a true story that took place in Algiers, Louisiana when an albino boy who was born in 1912 was abandoned at a local orphanage, had lost his eyesight and became violent. He attempted to run away from the orphanage several times, but he was always found and brought back. One night, he took a large pair of scissors, attacked a nurse and fled to the train yards. He became involved with voodoo or black magic and started killing people. Bodies were soon found horribly mutilated by the train tracks in several states across the southern u.s. As he grew older he started putting together a friend or a pet using voodoo practices, from the tongues and eyes of his victims that acted as his eyes. It would whistle when a victim was found and he closed in on them. But he found his victims in an unusual way - whenever someone would think about his name, or concentrate on the name he gave himself, it was a psychic beacon and the man was aware of them. As long as someone thought about his name, he would begin to move towards them. I understand why you may dislike the movie because "the acting cast was terrible", but because this movie was based on true events that really took place, it makes this movie that much more creepy.

I feel like at the pitch "the bye bye man" was the working title but someone forgot to change it when they started writing and then nothing was uphill from that point. It's not the worst movie ever, I still think the Conjuring was that movie (it was so boring with only 1 good but very telegraphed jump scare) but it will have an unhappy home on my bottom 5 list.

So the 'Bye Bye Man' is... Basically a less interesting Freddy Krugar? Lets see. He comes after everyone that knows about it, if no one knows about him he is powerless. It seems like someone trying to make Freddy Krugar but in a different way. Sad it failed.

It sounds like The Purge movie. It has an interesting setting, but lousy story.

The haunting of Molly Hartley. Two friends and I went to see it, 5mins passed the opening credits we looked at each other and said at the same time "refund" but of course we didn't. we decided to stay and make fun of the movie with 2 of guys. I don't remember laughing so hard that year.
