That was a tripping song for me too.took a couple hits this one time everything went hazy and when it cleared I was dressed as an indian chief,wearing one of those long head dresses,paint on my face and wearing the same clothes as the indians wear with mogisons on my feet.running with a pair of long narrow snowshoes.felt like it went on for ever.lol.😅😅😅😅

Very pleasant. The Byrds were very talented with transcending Folk with Psycheadelia in the 60's. That 'pulse' is what made them popular in the 60's. The L.A scene as well as the San Francisco scene really established more than a musical movement, but more of that consciousness that was growing back then. They were more than just that spaced out appearance that I remember on the "Ed Sullivan show (Good God like Ed was "Tuned in" ) ! I still dig it!
@karlkellar861410 ай бұрын
I agree completely. The imagery is outstanding (crystal colors no one knows the name of, legendary fountain). In a weird way it reminds me of a Jack Vance story, The Galactic Prime. Incidentally, it was written by Goffin and King, who also contributed Going Back to this album, another of my all-time favorites.

A beautiful song written by Carol King and polished into a gem by The Byrds. Crosby has a beautiful voice. too bad he's so hard to get along with, they replaced his picture with a horse, who by the way was very friendly and easy to get along with as long as you had carrots. :)
@georgefelton2975 Жыл бұрын
McGuinn claims with a straight face that the horse just wandered in when they were readying that shot. (There are other photos of the Byrds riding horses right around there.) He also said that if they intended the horse to be Crosby, they'd have turned it around.
@Spanosmusic Жыл бұрын
@@georgefelton2975 That may very well be true, it was just a coincidence and I don't see any reason why McGuinn would lie about it. But they used that picture and it does seems appropriate, whether on purpose or not. Maybe that horse knew something we're unaware of Lol If they turned the horse around though no one would have been able to see it. I think it's kind of fitting that Michael Clark is holding the reins of the horse, although by doing so it would seem they wanted the horse to remain in the picture, whether the horse was supposed to represent Crosby or not.
@georgefelton2975 Жыл бұрын
@@Spanosmusic Interesting points, Christopher. A great album cover, for sure. I like the back side, too, where they're standing behind the horse, McGuinn right over the saddle. The album's title is cool. One of my favorite Byrds albums.
