Probably not the best idea to go here straight after the warehouse tasting but Janet looked after us.

Oh Man! That was wonderful to watch. You guys are hilarious! I've started getting into my whisky recently and your channel has been educational as well as entertaining, so thank you both very much. I will be heading to Campbeltown next week to tour the Springbank and Glen Scotia distilleries and I'll be stopping by the Cadenhead shop for sure. Something tells me I might be feeling pretty perky myself when I get there! Roll on next week! All the best.

Just WOW! Is the practice of serving from infinity bottles like that unique to this shop? What an amazing practice. Makes my plans to visit Scotland even more solid. This was so enjoyable to watch and so glad to see you pick up some those infinity offerings, and lovely that they apply labels to your selections. I have to say I really enjoyed the real estate and breathalyzer segment that followed. I believe your self-assessments regarding your sobriety, but you both seemed lucid and weren't slurring or swaying that I could see. I must applaud you both on refusing to drive though. So many of us won't or don't take such precaution. Enjoyed this immensely. Thank you!

This was a fun day. I was surprised how relatively sober we seemed on the video compared to my real life memories. But we really do not drink much. This shop is unique in running the infinity bottles as far as I know. The distilleries are about three mins walk from the shop.

Wow... That shop looks like where I'd like to go after I die. That's incredible. They just let you hang out and sip on free cask strength springbank... Although, on second thought that's pretty savvy, as after several dreams of CS springbank I'm likely going to buy many more bottles of whisky. Clever Scots indeed!

Love Campbeltown and the Cadenhead Shop there. The infinity bottles are great and i dont think they have topped up the Longrow one since we were there in September! No mention of the cage on the video which for me is the best bit of the shop. Have found some spectacular versions of the distillery output from the cage. (Found at the back of the shop as you walk in)
@WhiskyMystery4 жыл бұрын
Yes the cage! No one told me until I had left. Good reason for a return visit.
@jaychung66224 жыл бұрын
Noooooo!!! The cage! They didn’t tell you about the cage!! 😭 There’s a cage at the back of the shop that they place one-off, single cask drawn bottles of Springbank/Longrow/Hazelburn each day. There isn’t always a good selection (I had to go back 3x to find something other than just hazelburn 😂), but you can find some really special bottles too. Now you’ve gotta go back to Campbeltown (and I’ll go w/ you! 🤣). I 100% agree with your take on the infinity bottles. Really a very cool experience (and a pretty fair price imo). Btw, they still hadn’t refilled the Longrow infinity bottle by the time I got there. In fact, it had been completely completely emptied. Someone must have really wanted the tiny bit left in there. 😄. Btw, for being as drunk as you’ve ever been, the camerawork was perfectly fine & you definitely definitely didn’t seem drunk at all, just a little buzzed. Loved the thumbnail for this video!

Jay Chung Hey Jay, did you also go all the way through the back of the shop through that long corridor to their special tasting room, replete with leather furniture, wonderful tables, bottles of fine whisky all over the place and - for matters of necessity - some very clean and well-tended toilets? What a beautiful place to relax and enjoy a dram. Cheers!
@jaychung66224 жыл бұрын
Russell yes! I did a tasting of the bottles they had in there & spent a little extra time hanging out there. One of the guys in the shop treated me to a dram of his 18yo Springbank Society release. Re-charred Sherry butt. I think they were extra nice to me since I was traveling alone. Absurdly friendly people in Campbeltown! 😄

A cage? What? Now I have to go back. Hold on Jay I am coming. I have certainly been more drunk when younger but not since meeting Deepa. I was really surprised by how normal, if a little slow, I sounded considering what I felt like. Also it is interesting to see the 'clear' video of the same events.

What a great walk through the Cadenhead shop. We shall please G-d be in Campbeltown in the first week in November. The only thing I can't see are any prices. I'd love to know how much those 20 Year Plus bottles are. We are going to try and do the Cadenhead/Springbank Warehouse tasting session as well as visit Glengyle, Glen Scotia and of course the shop. Thank you for uploading this.

Fantastic Reb. Make sure you ask in the shop about the cage in the back. I did not know about it until after. You can see prices in my other Caden head (Edinburgh) video to get some idea kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pLx0eq2dnKqpfp8.html but typically prices are very good compared to official bottles

In Germany you can order 0.35 litre bottles of Highland and Islay straight from the cask online via the Cadenheads shop in Cologne (aber Berlin too ). The prices are actually very similar to those in Campbeltown after you do the conversion. Hopefully it will stay that way after the Brexit, because their living cask bottlings are sensationally good.

Can not wait to get back into a Cadenhead's shop.
@russell37334 жыл бұрын
Boy, did you have some fun at the Cadenhead's shop! You walk in, lose any sense of time, wander around looking at the endless range of single cask and small batch whiskies on offer (or rums and other sundry spirits, if you're so inclined), check out the infinity "water coolers", pour a wee dram, chat with the local staff, have a gander at the various other merchandise for sale (including wooden cask ends from Springbank, Hazelburn and Longrow), and before you know it two hours have passed, you're blood alcohol level is tottering at the gates to nirvana and you're feeling - well, not to put too fine a point on it - as if you'd like to buy a house in Campbeltown. It could be worse. I'm just glad that the North Sea lies between me and this shop, otherwise my bank balance would be seriously in the red. Before I go - a few of my present Cadenhead's favourites (all easily affordable) - old Pulteney 13 (Authentic Collection, 54.7%), Miltonduff 11 (Small Batch, 56%), Inchgower 9 (AC, 56.5%) and CAdenhead's Islay Single Malt 9yo (no -name distillery, 57.5%). Each sumptuous in its own way. Many thanks, Phil and Deepa, for doing all the hard work necessary to spread the word and the good cheer. And cheers to all the friendly and helpful folk who work at the Cadenhead's shop in Campbeltown!

i remember Janet from when I stayed at the Ardshiel a couple of years ago. She worked behind their fantastic whisky bar. I got to try a sample of a 40 year old Jura as Richard Paterson had been to visit a week before. Campbeltown really has become a destination in the past few years. Shame the scottish media in general seem completely oblivious to the draw that places like this and Islay are to foreign visitors - not everyone comes just to see Edinburgh, Skye and Loch Ness.
@jaychung66224 жыл бұрын
TOMATO YOSHI You’re absolutely right! After landing in Glasgow, Campbeltown was my first destination in Scotland. I stayed at the Ardshiel & it was fantastic. They’ve got a Friday night dram club once a month where they host tastings. And afterwards most everyone spills over into that awesome bar you mentioned. I was just in time to catch this month’s glen scotia tasting which was hosted by Iain McAlister.
