Greetings Indie Warriors and welcome to The Caligula Effect 2 review here at I Dream of Indie. This is a review of the Nintendo Switch version. The game is also available on Playstation 4.
"In the Caligula Effect 2 The virtuadoll Regret creates Redo, a simulation in which people are trapped. To escape from Redo, a group of "awakened" high school students re-establish the Go-Home Club to fight against Regret’s reign and escape to the real world."

Very good review. I'm still on the fence on this game but I have been thinking about it for months now, so I guess it's more a matter of when I'll get rather than if I'll get it.

The story was solid, just until that ending..it felt very underwhelming. So much wasted potential imo. But overall still a good game. My gripes of the game is the lack of enemy types, battles get repetitive after some point, and that weak ending. The best things about the game are the soundtrack, decent cast of characters, and the combat. a 7/10 for me

I never paid attention to the first one. I might have to pick that up. This looks like something I'd enjoy. I have to admit, I'm not a big fan of finding my way around Japanese schools for hours, like in Persona games, but what can I do? They love their high school protagonists!

@@IDreamofIndie So far I’m having a blast! It’s a lot of dialogue but the combat and the story that’s actually pretty good has got me hooked. They really took what was wrong with the first game and completely fixed it in the sequel. I would definitely recommend this game

About the performance. Is the problem during combat or in some areas of the overworld? And how bad are those dips?

The dips occured in both combat and the overworld but they weren't game breaking or anything. Typical switch performance in open world.

This seems like it has some potential for fans of these but this personally isn’t for me. I’ll have to hope that maybe the performance will be patched up, but maybe not. It’s hard to say. Thanks for the review.

If it has performance issues with the NA then those wont be fixed. Usually things like that get tweaked on the Japanese version and the NA version would be running on the latest patch from the Japanese version.

Spoilers for the game: The main bad guy is pretending to be the famous music critic and musician from the first game. He is only picking the musicians he can most easily manipulate. He is literally shitting all over this game's OST by saying he can't tell good music from bad! Also, the good virtualdoll X sings all songs in her usually bubbly cutesy way is fitting since she is a program and Regret is a human who can match the emotion of the song so when you beat the boss and unlock the X version of the song, its a crappy version where its sung super enthusiastically when its a sad song.

imo the songs aren’t rly crappy when it comes to the X versions, tbh i think it’s great because it’s fitting to the GHC members that are meant to oppose the ideals of the Musicians and tells it from their ideals instead like in X’s version of Eternal Silver it brings a sense of hope from how she sings it is perfectly fitting Sasara and even in her version of xxxx/xx/xx the raspiness of her voice brings and even greater sense of anger to it for most of the song and it becomes even more apparent as it goes on

@@ivan_en0257 Just to be clear, I don't hate the OST, I was just surprised the GAME was making fun of the OST. There was NO reason for Bluffman to tell Spaceboy he has no taste in music and recruited musicians based on who was easiest to manipulate.
