This would actually be a good idea for a series of videos, "The Captain helps (artist name here) buy a rig". It would help to show what kind of gear would sound good for a particular genre and/or style and it would show how Andertons has a knowledgeable sales staff to help potental customers make the right decisions in their purchases.

If there was ever any criticism of Lee being the typical "boss's son" who was gifted his way up the chain, then I think this video absolutely put that idea to rest. This video proves that he is an awesome salesperson who is great at analysing the needs of the customer, and at debunking the jargon and loose terminology. Great video

Capt, I liked that you took the time to ask questions about requirements before making suggestions. Too often on forums people are quick to make suggestions based on what their favourites are, without taking the time to understand how it would fit in with what's actually needed

@FalconerPhoto well it's honest work, so why shouldn't he do so? Also I think you may be estimating his income a bit higher than it actually is. Yes he is selling expensive goods, but most of that revenue goes to the manufacturer. Then comes staff, shop upkeep etc. He surely is leading a good life, but he's certainly not overly wealthy.

don't forget that with the TC HOF mini you can create your own reverb presets with the software, and although it's only 1 knob, you can make it do more than just turn up and down. I have my hof mini set so that up to 2pm it just adds some nice room reverb, but anything past 2 it starts getting more ambient and also adds in some modulation. which allows me to easily crank it up just by moving the one knob with my foot on the fly.

I'm surprised to hear a better clean tone from the Orange ! As said by Capt', the speaker of the Fender seems very limited... But the Orange is a clear winner here (without considering the prices). The Boss Blues Driver is a great choice too. I would have tried the Soul Food from Electro Harmonix (cheap and great pedal)... All other pedals and Pedaltrain (great !) are your choice and sound great from here. Anyways, congratulations for your new gear ! Must be totally exciting ! Wish you the best Mary ! Eric from Canada.

Amazing sounding amps, from everything from Country/Country Blues and Southern Rock, to classic Rock to anything chimey and upbeat. And with the Cub212R on the 15 watt setting, I can rattle the hell out of the windows! Has a great sounding gain built in, as well as a great digital reverb. I have a full sized HOF that I love, but with the Laney, I never even turn it on anymore. Great Amps!!

I disagree. Thought the Orange was better here. At some point Lee made an adjustment that put the Blues Driver and Orange off kilter, this also didn't do the Fender any favours, it was just less off kilter. On the whole I thought the Orange was tighter while the Fender seemed washed out.

It's not for everyone but my first rig is the one I used to lug half-way across town to play with my best mates. Kustom 50w (it's old), Danelectro distortion, beringer delay and a customised Elevation strat copy. Plenty of oomph, looked awesome and cost about £600 all in. Fender leads (L plug all the way) 10' guitar to distortion, 5' delay to amp and a Mooer 4" patch between the pedals (got to keep that chain short).

Hey Mary ! Just my 2 cents, i thought the Orange was a more arresting and interesting clean tone. Because the Fender clean is a well known and familiar tone but your playing is unique and the unique tone of the orange helps it stand apart. Also it really sounds good as well. Through the speakers on my Samsung tv the orange spanked the fender across everything. I wasn't expecting that. Well done orange.

I think that, since she is a singer songwriter, she should try to sing over her guitar sound before making a decision, so that she can see if the frequency spectrum of the orange fits her voice better than the fender (also, please try a fender Hot Rod Deluxe, I know it is bigger and heavier, but it might get an easier tone to sing over)

Both sounded great... I can tell why Anderton’s is so successful, if they’re all trained by Lee and are able to put packages together that fit the artist so well like this - sales have to be good...

Yeah, but the thing with Orange is that you would only have to make a few adjustments and it'd work at least equally as well for that style of playing.

Yeah, this was cool. I would probably spend 15-30 seconds showcasing what type of music the artist normally plays and then go into the rig-build. Gives us a sense of who you're building for and how that could relate to what I'd like. Great vid! I'm watching a Mary Spender vid now!

If you got an orange you gotta use the dirt channel and drive it. Lots of Orange users set the dirty channel clean-ish and then use a clean boost to get it cooking. If your going fender, the tweed blues junior has a better speaker than the black one and your better off getting a tube screamer for it than any other OD, just ask Mick Taylor! Still its a quandry we all find ourselves in and a grand is a lot of cash to be shellacking out so some good advice is keep trying them out until your totally happy! Great playing and enjoyable watching! :)
