As a Minnesotan, I have to bring up that Polaris was started (and still headquartered) in Minnesota. You might be thinking of Ski-Doo which is most definitely a Canadian brand and company.
@kellingtonlink956
@kellingtonlink956 4 жыл бұрын
Yes and No. The Canadian company Bombardier was founded in 1942. They pioneered the snow travel in the 40’s; creating the iconic B12 - available to the public (everywhere) by 1948/9. Polaris was founded in 1954. However, in your defence, the smaller “ski-do” (originality ski-dog?!?) was publicly sold in the mid/late 1959. So we are both right. True Snow travel (1949) vs. Light/personal snow travel (1954). But your point is well taken. Great comment.

They are heavy, slow, and the handling performance is best described as dangerous, and they are not reliable. They blow oil from new. They are very overpriced. They have more safety recalls than all other motorcycle manufacturers combined, because HD spends less on R&D yet has higher profit margins than any other manufacturer in the world. Harley won't be around in 10 years. Their customer base is dying boomers. A national embarrassment.

Worked at ROH Wheels in Adelaide for a time. They did Harley Davidson wheels there. Was always funny seeing the American reps from Harley come over, they'd see the rejected rim pallet and go, "Why are you ditching that for?" The smallest imperfections got rims tossed, and the Honchos from Harley weren't happy with our quality control being so strict. Mere dots that were hard to see got the wheels thrown out. They said that back then in the US, they'd pass some of that stuff...

Sold my 1200C last year after many enjoyable years. Sporty's are great bikes. The 883 is smoother and has plenty of power. Back on a Honda for now (PC800) because of the body-work and trunk that will hold three bags of groceries completely enclosed. But the Sporty was a great deal of fun. Did a lot of suspension tweaking. The rear Showa shocks can be exchanged to change the ride height and comfort level. I liked the shocks off an S model with adjustable dampening. You can also run Honda CB900 Air Shocks (similar to Road King, but w/o the hard spring) so you can have a super comfy solo ride, then air up for two up :)

Was also awesome for around town, not so much for anything 55 or over since top speed was 72mph 75 doing down hill with a tail wind. Then it sounded like you were a heart beat from losing a leg to a piston coming through the block. Then i see some idiot cut me off or blow a red because they were on their phone. Maybe once my kids are grown i'll get another motorcycle but for now risk/reward isn't there for me to really enjoy.
