This movie will forever hold a special place in my heart, not just because it’s the best one but also because it’s the last movie I watched in cinemas with my entire family before my dad died

It’s always fascinating to me when a Disney channel franchise somehow makes it big enough to get a theatrical release.

Completely separate note - but I'd genuinely love to watch a summary video about why pirates happened.

High School Musical never really helped me through high school (school in Brazil makes the whole experience quite different tbh) but right now, graduating college? Gosh, I relate so much to the fear of "what's next?" and "I wish I could control my own future"... So yeah HSM is an amazing franchise that should have a better reputation than just "kid's movies".

The bully scene went right over my head back when I watched it. I was only about eight or something, but looking at it now, it's horrible. I mean just imagine for a second those weren't two guys, but girls. That would've NEVER gotten through.

As a class of 2022 I feel every moment of this movie and the fun thing is we were a graduation outfit during my senior chorus last concert. I love every minute of it and the excitement when we all graduate. Ugh 😣 it was so fun and seeing all ur friends moving on to college or life was sad but a great feeling.

I love the second movie (mostly because of it's music), but it's hard to deny that the spectacle of this movie makes it iconic

I agree with the college thing. I started dating my bf like, 2 months before i had to graduate from high school. I know he only took the chance to ask me out because he thought i was gonna go to the college in our town. But, I got a good scholarship to a college far from home and i just couldn't miss that amazing opportunity. We decided to keep dating and go long distance. It was awful. I don't recommend long distance to anyone, but i don't regret it. Now we're living together and it could not be any better lol. We got really lucky, I'll say that haha

I've said this before to other people but I was in high school for every single HSM movie and it was very bittersweet to see it end but I was in my 3rd year of high school. My junior year. Preparing to go to college and leave all of my friends behind and I honestly still have a hard time letting go because of it. Life moved on for my friends and I feel like I'm still in the same spot from 2010. HSM is such a fun series of movies that I love revisiting to kind of help me get my mind at ease and to also let out a good cry that I need.

He's talking about the Sharpay Movie, that's his next HSM video. I am hoping he does get to do the TV show, the upcoming season is when they are gonna become nostalgic in a way.

I watched the movie in theaters as a kid and I still remember every little detail. Though I wasn’t in high school at the time, it encouraged me to pursue music and theater and also hold onto my passion for sports at the time.

Just wanted to share a little story since you mentioned high school sweet hearts normally don't end up together. My sister and her husband met in high school, became friends, started dating their junior year, and then were together for 8 years before they finally got married.

Ok listen o, even before I had the vocabulary I knew Ryan and Kellesy was just gay solidarity. In my mind it was obvious they had a scene where they agreed to go as "friends" to get people off their back and them singing together was just the end of that scene

This movie came out the year after I graduated high school and as someone who was a theater kid, growing up with HSM in it's hay day... it was an EVENT! I know you're doing Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure next but I REALLY hope you cover High School Musical: The Musical: The Series afterward. Watching it makes me feel like a kid again and brings me back to my time with my friends in theater. Also the cast is so damn talented!

I watched every movie on it's premiere or opening night, they helped me through alot of HS. I loved the music and choreography. The days when HSM was hype were some of the best times ever, the vote for Miley in the second movie, the debut of the first one came after a brand new episode of Zach and Cody, I remember cause I was a huge fan of the show. Once I seen Ashley Tisdale was going to be in it I stayed up past my bedtime to watch it. Nobody knew how big this was going to be. It sort of came out of nowhere when the first film dropped. It was just another DCOM ( Disney Channel Original Movie for those who don't know.) and it left me with good memories. Watching this movie in theaters honestly made me cry cause I was just entering being a teen when it ended cause it was the end of an era fr.

I never saw the first two HSM movies but I was in year 11 (second-last year of school here in Australia) and we were about to go into our final year (it came out during our summer holidays here in November/December). All the girls in my group wanted to see this at the movies. I had absolutely no context, but I tell you what, it was super easy to follow and it was perfect for us considering we were going into our final year. Also the music was banger.

Interesting how the 3 movies are not only about the 3 years of high school. But the first is about the beginning of the school year, the second is about the middle of the year, and the 3rd... You get what I mean.

3:13 Yeah, I have the same issue. The side of my family I still communicate with is tall across the board. I have a 6' 5" uncle, for example. Though, I do measure up to some of them. When I pull myself out of my depression and leave home, I remember how tall 5'10" is compared to the average female or feminine body type.

I graduated high school in 2018 and I watched hsm3 the night before graduation. let me tell you, I was crying because I gone through everything and that last step which was graduation was actually happening. It was so relatable, I just wished everything was back to the beginning of senior year. I was never the type to hate on high school. Yes high school was straight hell but it was the friends that I made that made it all better.

High School Musical 3 is 15 years old! Everyone's facing the pressure and reality of graduating and found to prom and the film doesn't shy away from relatable dilemmas kids face whether it's deciding which college to go to, saying goodbye, or worrying if they'll still stay in touch afterwards Maybe our hearts doesn't know what's in high school, we all wish it would all slow down, there will always be an emphasis on collective action and importance of group effort over individualism The songs are way more catchy, more toe tapping, the sets are sparkling with rich detail and colors, the actors are still so charismatic (they're not bad actors even if they're playing one-dimensional characters), and this certainly feels like a closing chapter of a phenomenon It is after all a thank you note to the fans I suppose on another level that the movie is overwhelmed by so many subplots it's hard to tackle them all, then again the fans want to soak up every minute before it ends And I won't lie I was in tears at several points even the ending which is hard to believe it's all over Again it's an over exaggerated version of high school and cheesy but entertains still with its musical energy It's a series that celebrates talent, enthusiasm, loyalty, and love not just for tween audiences Plus it acts as a nice time capsule with a big budget My second best movie of 2008!

I don't remember if I actually saw this in theater but I'm pretty sure, at the end of it, I did cry a bit- more so because it was just... the end of the HSM movies and i also kinda grow up with the films.

On that last end about updating it, I feel the show does that well!! It deals with social media, anxiety, figuring out identity, breakups, crushes, college, moving, and quite a bit more. I know you likely won't end up covering it, but I'd honestly enjoy it because it's a show that i hold very close to my heart and i find it weirdly relatable. I know it has a stupid title, and it starts out rough, but it does get better. S2 finale sucks though, but s3 rectifies it well.

incorporated never watched these movies as a kid because I wasn't interested in them but now that I'm older, the movies now have a nostalgic vibe for me, and I like the second movie the best because of the story that is being told and how the music is incorporated into the film. This movie came out my senior year of high school and my senior year was garbage (for a slew of reasons), so I second fully pursuing the scholarship before anything else. A relationship is nice, but it may not be forever, and you can't set yourself aside for someone elses pretty words.

I graduated in 2021 and I both feel upset that I didn’t get the high school experience everyone else before me got because of covid. But I also feel more stunted than usual. I’m still in the same boat as Gabriella and Troy as a junior in college. Everything feels unclear and it’s really draining everything out of me. But at least I know it’s somewhat normal.
