@@Panzer_ze_tank I'm nowadays in the swedish homeguard (used to be a ranger) and we have mostly old M2s. Regular army has the good stuff. It is estimated that all older versions will be exchanged this fall for only M4 versions. A weight comparison: M2: 14.2kg/31lb (steel) M4: 6.6kg/15lb (titanium/composite)

@@user-pm4jb2iy6ythose fire rockets, they'renot recoiless rifles and im honestly calling bullshit at this point. This is basically a shoulder fired mortar. Rockets have propellent propelling them forward after being fired. A recoiless rifle doesn't. It works like a gun except the gases are expelled out the ass end mitiging recoil.
@erikaskeroth9720
@erikaskeroth9720 10 ай бұрын
@@Tikimohn Exactly, a recoilless rifle has more in common with a gun, and everyone who ever fired one know the difference. Rocket launcher like the rpg-7 uses a rocket motor(recoilless rifles do not) the rocket motor is attached to the munition and stays attached as it is launched. The rocket motor burns for a set period of time and propels the munition continuously during that time. You can shoot an RPG-7 with lousy earplugs (I once heard a story about a group of soldiers found that the Taliban used to put cigarette filters into In the ears) and you’ll be fine. With the Carl Gustaf, however, you better don’t try that! This is one of the loudest weapons on the battlefield. That's because you are essentially holding a sawn off tank gun with a open breech. In the CG84mm and AT4 all the propellant is exploding all at once. Venting a portion of the weapon's propellant gases in the rear of the tube which is nearly equal to the forward momentum. The name is misleading the weapon has a fair amount of recoil but nowhere near what it would have had if the was a closed breech. Then you would at least lose your shoulder, arm and large parts of your upper body and probably more often than not die if you tried to fire it. The number of times you can fire a CG84mm according to the USMC and I know that the Swedish Armed Forces is use same number. "Firing the Gustaf can also cause related shock wave injuries to gunners and those nearby. Gunners are only allowed to fire six rounds a day during training. The assistant gunners would also often move away from the overpressure zone, so that they too can fire six rounds a day." I can't find a number on the Rpg-7. Only that the rate of fire is fire 5-6 rocket a minut. And the back blast danger area is for all ammunition natures: 60 metres to the rear of the weapon and 8,2m either side of the axis of the bore.

A recoilless rifle that kicks like a mule. I've seen 12 gauge shotguns that don't kick that hard. Could you imagine how that would feel if you had to shoulder it like a regular rifle.
@moshunit96
@moshunit96 10 ай бұрын
There is a piece that fits snug against your shoulder to absorb the kick so it really isnt all that different from absorbing the kick from a rifle. The kick isn't that bad but does vary depending on the type of round. Still doesn't kick as bad as a lever action 45-70.

This clip is showing the CG’s 9 mm training erapon firing. The loader is unlocking the weapon’s safety mechanism by turning the bolt on the weapon after it has been inserted into the breach, aligning the GC’s firing pin with the inserted weapon’s riring mechanism (which can be seen in the clip). The training weapon is made in the form of a full calibre 84 mm HEAT stand off grenade, but fires a 9 mm tracer bullet, with the same ballistics as the full calibre grenade. Made for fire drill training. Cheap, no backblow and no pressure exposure to the gun crew! There is also a 20 mm variant of this fire excersise weapon. However, one can tell that this is the 9 mm variant by the the way the loader is handling the safety mechanism of the weapon. The gunner still have to release the safety catch og the CG.

@@stefankaufmann8257 I know, just stated that the max range was 1000 for regular ammunition, Nothing else. Ofc the ammo still weighs about the same, but you have many more variations of ammunition. If you use the laser guided GMM version you can actually hit targets at +2000 meters (M4 version). And about the weight. I guess you have never held- or used the M4 version. I was originally trained with the M2 and M3 versions. The M4 version weighs less than half of the old versions. Trust me, it is a huge difference. About 14 kg for old M2 and slightly over 6 kg for the M4 version.
@stefankaufmann8257
@stefankaufmann8257 11 ай бұрын
@@74Darkman i would not use laser guided ammo against a modern tank. I was trained on the austrian version. The Carl Gustav is not comparable to an NLAW or Javelin. Non guided, shoulder fired HEAT has a realistic range of not more than 500m and that's absolutely ok. It's the versatility, that makes the Carl Gustav such a remarkable weapon. You can engage tanks, although it's not recommended for MBTs. You can fight infantry or other soft targets. You can engage bunkers. Need light? Shoot an illumination granade. You need to hide? Take a fog granade. I am one of the last austrian Jagdkampf officers. Jagdkampf means fighting behind enemy lines. You are doing all on foot and you have to carry everything yourself including ammo. For sure it's nice to have a lightweight M4, but the ammo is the problem - each granade weighs some 3,5 to 4kg and you need a lot of ammo. But let me say this clear: I LOVE THE CARL GUSTAV! Best infantry support weapon ever!

@mrfabuloso91 i know, I know. Things don't always go as it should. I'm kinda happy it didn't because when the Madsen was introduced, if we mass produced it, we would probably have sold off to the germans, and World War 1 would maybe have another outcome. Even Gun Jesus says it was the best machine gun in ww1, but Madsen lost the first place for only being there in very small amounts. Edit: yes Brazil used them until recently. Right, still this is the Carl X Gustaf that" rifle factory is referring to, the present king of Sweden has the same name and many believe it has something to do with him.
