I started following the Red Sox at age 10 during the 1971 season. Yaz was my favorite player.

All the years I lived near Boston I never ever had a bad thing to say about Carl Yastrzemski. He's always been my greatest living baseball hero.

I read a book about Yaz years ago. I remember watching him play and always loved his hustle. Watching this tonight brought back something special positive.Carl Yastrzemski was true hero in baseball and the Red Sox. Hard-working grinding with small ball but had the power to put out a home run or a stinging line drive when the team needed one also making a spectacular play in left field or first base at Fenway or other ballparks.Whether it was throwing somebody out or making a catch. One of the all-time greats especially in Boston.

#8 l got to see Yaz's last game in Oakland against the A's and everyone Hi ust about applauded Yaz as a sign of respect and he stayed behind after the game to sign autographs to all of us then Red Sox Nationers who wanted one what a time l had getting an autograph from Yaz but a handshake as well a night l will never forget
