The flutter, chirping noise is the turbo release valve, the other noise, like a machine gun, is the rev limiter hitting max. The driver is keeping their foot nailed. And they are all 4wd. Peace you two.

Grp. B is as nuts as it gets and those cars have way more power. However these modern WRC cars are much, much faster than the grp. B cars. But they are pretty "clinical" to watch. Grp. B cars were basically out of control and compensated for that with more power.

Rally drivers are the most talented drivers in the world. They are also probably amongst the lowest paid of race car drivers. Sponsors want an enclosed course where they can charge the audience, with the driver getting a cut. People can just walk up to the side of the road and watch your race for free? No money in that. Rally Drivers are a special breed, like no other.

These cars are highly modified versions of classic road cars such as Toyota, Peugeot, Ford, Skoda, Citroen, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, etc. They are equipped with a roll cage and are one of the safest cars on the planet. They have racing seats and a five-point seat belt. Sometimes up to seven-point. Despite this fact, serious accidents can occur. Craig Breen died in 2023 during tests for Rally Croatia. However, such serious accidents are exceptional. It just might happen. They are equipped with powerful engines and those from the WRC1 class even with a hybrid drive, which gives them more energy when accelerating. WRC1 cars (in this year it is Toyota Yaris WRC, Ford Puma WRC and Hyundai i20 WRC) each have over 500 horsepower in the sum of the outputs of both engines. They race on closed public roads in all conditions, that is also in the rain, then in the heat, winter, at night, in the fog. As for surfaces, all imaginable surfaces such as asphalt, gravel, mud, snow and ice. During the Kenya Safari Rally, they drive through the savanna, where sometimes there is more sand on the road than the road itself. We must not forget the encounters with wild animals, I remember shots where giraffes ran across the track in Kenya, or moose in Finland. Each surface has its advantages and disadvantages. The snow in Sweden has the advantage that it also creates barriers against which the car can lean and thus prevent a major accident. However, if he drives into it quickly, he can get bogged down and either just waste time, or worse, have to quit. Gravel and dirt have the advantage that you can drift well on them, but compared to snow and ice, the car holds better and does not spin as much. But when it's wet, it's muddy, so it slows down. or when it is quite dry, but there is really a lot of it, including sand. Check out some Safari rally videos and you'll see what I mean in some footage. On the tarmac, there the car holds the best, has the best grip, but when it is wet, it slides. And as we verified during the Rally Central Europe, when the tarmac is wet and there are also fallen leaves on it, it's a killer combination. Check Esapekka Lappi crash on 2023 Central European Rally. The cost of a Rally1 car is close to €1 million, while Rally2 cars are capped at approximately €200,000. Of course, the weaker the car, the cheaper it is. A Peugeot 208 Rally4 can cost much less, now in a quick search I found one already ready for racing for 73,200 euros. So the prices vary a lot. On the other hand, the Audi Quattro S1, the legendary Group B car, costs around €2 - 2.5 million.

They rally on all surfaces, pavement, gravel, mud, snow. These events use public roads to travel to the stages and then the competitive stages are closed public roads. Fastest from A to B wins it all. These cars are heavily modified smaller cars from most manufacturers. Small turbocharged 3 and 4 cylinder with very specialized 4wd drivetrains. Dakar might be fun for you guys to check out too. While Group B was popping off in the 80s, there was also a ton of wild vehicles at Dakar. My personal favorite were the Kamaz trucks, gigantic, 5 ton + trucks the size of a garbage truck able to keep up with rally cars like these (at least, the ones of the time) as they flew through the dunes. There's a very infamous clip of the DAF TurboTwin truck overtaking a world-famous rally car of the year mere moments before a devastating crash which would reshape the entire league for racing trucks. I'm pretty sure there's videos of those DAF TurboTwin trucks and the end of the unlimited Kamaz trucks. Toby price is a super inspiring story from there too, Aussie guy who was paralyzed in wreck, but came back to race again and still does to this day

It happens lots in Canada. It must have been commented but I can't read all the way back to find out... the main reason the drivers can drive all sideways and come into corners at speeds pushing the limits of physics is they have "Navigators", who are constantly tell ing the driver exactly what's around the next corner, or what he'll have to deal with when the car comes down on the other side of the jump... you need to find one that shares in car chatter and listen to the code they speak to convey so much info so fast. As for maintenance after the days racing segment, they completely teardown and rebuild every car for the next day's leg. My family owned a Motor Inn in Kamloops when I was a teen, and we had the two "Triumph TR-7" race teams stay at our establishment.. my brother and I got to watch the nightly teardown and rebuilds. We also got to go out and watch live 3 different days (segments). Needless to say, we soon started driving our dune buggies as if they were rally cars. lol.

I consider these the best drivers in the world. Not round and round on the same course, it's constantly changing and takes incredible reflexes and timing. They have to set up for curves and jumps before they can even see them. If they screw up, there are no guard rails, just trees to hit. They also do this on pavement and in the snow.

After all, the cars always have a co-driver who has notes made before the rally, with corners, jumps, distances, etc. marked. So, for example, is there going to be a gentle left or a tight right, and is the bend gentler toward the end or a tighter turn, and is there, for example, a stone on the inside corner that could break something from the car, etc. are things that are usually noted in the notes. The assistant driver then reads them to the driver so that the driver knows what is coming. Since the time to read the notes is short, the markings are usually arrows, numbers and various symbols, each of which has its own meaning. And of course, what is recorded there, how much the driver wants information about what is coming, also has an effect. the teams are always given a few days before the start of the rally to familiarize themselves with the route (the driver drives with his co-driver through the route, possibly even several times, within the given time limit of course) and the co-driver takes notes based on what the driver says

Notice how they're jumping sideways. The road turns after the jump so you need to be pointing the right direction when you land. That's one of the things that make winning Rally Finland so difficult and prestigious. Not beause such jumps are unique for Rally Finland, but because they're abundant. You'll have a blind jump after blind jump after blind jump and you have to land perfectly each time to be in the right position for the next blind jump. And to win, you'll have to do all that while keeping up the speed. It's madness. They're mad, the drivers, they have to be.

The slide sideways is to take speed off under control conditions If you put foot on brakes car would spin out So it to wash speed off and angle the vechiles for corner so it's straight coming out and can nail it out of corner This why they have a person reading notes their telling what the corner coming about two away They'll say L6 which means left and how sharp the corner will be and driver knows where to place the vechiles and how fast to attack it Like R 2 could mean right and 2 might mean tight corner so the driver knows to wash of speed as sharp corner The person reading pace note will call jump and grade also any obstacles on corners like drains or trees close to road They'll say drain on left approach with caution and their reading these note about two corners ahead so drivers has to rember what said two corners beforehand and drive the car Also they race on snow through rivers The trick is to setting vechiles up as surface change every race and after every vechiles run beforehand So to pick the right tires for maximum grip and tyre pressure is very important if they get it wrong they skate over the road Their trying to get the tires to bit into the surface and why the fastest guys go last as earlier vechiles clean alot of loose gravel of the surface Also some heats after everyone finished then have to race back the other way which means all the notes and angles change Certain obstacles no longer in play but new one are You'll need to look at one where the pace notes are being read and drivers are communicating by head sets in side car cam Cheers guys 🦘🇦🇺👍

These cars belong to what may be the fastest era the WRC has gone through, labelled 'WRC+' or 'Super WRC', they run a few years of 1.6 liter, turbocharged inline 4 engines making ~380hp, with heavy anti lag and the most extensive use of aero the WRC has ever seen. Someone will know for sure, but I think these cars were faster than the current (and now close to extintion) Rally1 class. Then there's the rally itself, Finland; fastest event on the calendar, sometimes they find themselves being completely flat out over 1 full minute. Very demanding for both driver and codriver and the cars. The scenes of Hannu Mikkola's S1 E2 plowing through the stage leaving a trail of burnt oil and water vapor from the brakes lives rent free in my head.

Greets from Europe, Rally is popular here. You saw here World Championchip. Here the manufacturer are operating, Toyota, Hyundai, ... cars are 4WD, turbo-charged, over 400 hp, built for rallye, about 1 Million EURO, but they have registration. You can drive them on public roads. The technical level is comparable to Formula 1.There is much more to check out, esp. flat out and crashes. I tell you, live it is a totally different experience.

They are racing against the clock. Have you checked out the Baha 1000 race? If you noticed, they had to start turning before the curve. You have to know where to stand. Never stand outside the curve or on the inside of the curve of the outbound side of the curve.

There's one rally clip I remember (I think from Greece) where i don't know if it was a stray dog or someone's pet just got off the lead but the dog ran out on to the course just as the rally car came around the corner the car (fortunately) hit the jump and just cleared the running dog

These cars race in all kind of weather conditions, all seasons and on all road conditions - tarmac, mud, gravel, safari, snow, ice and a mix of all those but one thing is common - they don't plan to go slow 😁

..2 min interval in stages..WRC is World Rally Championship.. day, night, snow, rain, gravel, tarmac..many countries included.. usually in a Rally, first start wrc cars, then junior,4 weel drives.. then cars with only 2 weel drive.. ..sometimes then nacional or locals are included more on the end of event, or nacional rallies..even "classic rally" cars..crashes videos, funny rally or spectators videos.. It's great!

As a rule fans stand on the inside corners, due to centrifugal forces if something happens with a Rally car going 130 mph in a corner he will be flying outwards not inwards, standing near inside corners isn't always safe though.

the cars are heavily modified versions of production cars one of the rules is they have to be based on a car that has a certain number of produced car there are two people in the car driver and co driver the co driver is basically a sat nav for the driver who tells the driver the speeds the corners and the bumps they drive on tarmac / dirt roads /snow and ice the also drives in hail rain snow fog day and night the most dangerous and of course most exciting was the now banned Group B most of the regulations where removed to attract manufacturers to join in Group B is classed as the golden age of rally it is where drifting was invented and was must to master

Source some old Group B footage, they were so fast the drivers had a hard time keeping up with them. They were outlawed after too many teams died. They were nic-named The Killer B's. They were outlawed in 1987. so between 1982 to 1987.

Just a heads-up for when you react to other WRC videos: if you feel like you're watching the same cars over and over again going through the same places and doing the same jumps, it's because each team has two cars and many of the stages (that's what's called to the stretches of road they have to race through from point A to point B) are run twice.

Here is snow WRC Rally Sweden onboard from late Craig Breen in 2023. This special stage is not anywhere near the fastest Sweden have to offer, but this can show the effort Breen must uphold due the deep tire trails or bores what all those already passed cars have leave behind. It's constant fighting to keep your car in angle and in balance to make the corner as you like, or as comfortable you dare to try go around😂 Also Breen because codriver notes are in English and Breen was one of my all time favorite character in a history of WRC. Enjoy. m.kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oq6DnqVknreqnWQ.html&pp=ygUSd3JjIHN3ZWFkZW4gb25ib2Fy
