We all know that when buying a new car there’s always the chance to add some additional options to it.
While for most cars options will include small updates such as minor decal changes or maybe even the addition of a sunroof. But trust us, there are some options out there that can massively increase the price of a car. And not only that, but when you add all of the options together for some cars, the price can more than double!
So that got us thinking - which cars out there will see their price sky-rocket if you choose all the available options? Well, after we recently reviewed the Maybach GLS and saw its price rise by 38% once all the options were added, we’ve gone out and found 10 other cars where their price increases by more than 38% once you select all the options!
We’ve left out the likes of Rolls-Royce & Bentley given they don't release prices for their options, so which car do you think will take the top spot? Let us know with a COMMENT, then watch the video to find out!

I own a 2006 a8l with absolutely every option. Chiptuned 4.2tdi with 400hp and just under 1000nm of torque. It’s the best car ive ever had. Bought it for 15000€ in finland.

My mom bought a 1 series back in 2012. I remember thinking it was ludicrous that on top of the 30k usd for a diesel base model, it had to be specced with an extra 20k usd to be usable! Norwegian prices btw.

The Porsche 918’s optional (take a breath) “Porsche 911 Turbo S Edition 918 Spyder” Cabriolet is the most expensive single option ever offered on a car.

@@JoJoJoker thats in the same sphere as the porsche and Embraer private jet duet. Pagani have heniously expensive options: £150k sonus Faber stereo system and the £150k titanium exhaust harry metcalfe was offered for his zonda.

I just did an estimate on the Canadian Porsche website with the Macan (based at $57,800 cad), with all the options fitted it came out to $173,610 cad so that's 200.3% worth of option it's insane.

In the US, you can get a base Dodge Charger with around 300 hp for $30K USD. If you want the 800 hp model, you are around $90k USD. Similar prices for the Dodge Challenger. Ford Mustangs are in the same league. $30k USD for the base 4-cyclinder 310 hp model. The 760 hp GT500 is around $90-100k.

It’s interesting seeing the manual and diesel options offered in Europe compared to N.America. I can’t imagine a soccer mom here shifting their own gears in their diesel Range Rover or bimmer.

Nice episode ;) I definatly think that VAG are the best in squizing the last drop of juice from their clients. For example the base A6 Avant (C8 2020) in Poland costs 219 300 PLN and if You consider RS6 as a trim level (like e.g. Dodge Demon to be the highest trim for Challanger) then I have managed to configure it (at Audi's website) to 1 000 480 PLN. That is a 456% increase !!

Not all but quite a few of the options come as standard on he higher end models in the range as you go up in specification, where the increase in cost is a lot less than the percentage increase in price of taking a base spec car and adding every option on to it.

Regarding the Porsche Macan, the trick is (at least in the US), instead of buying the base Macan and load it up with all the options, is to buy a Macan GTS, which is about the same price as the base model plus all the options, but you get a bigger engine.

Just bought a 2021 Genesis G80 and the Genesis brand is perhaps the best at not forcing you to add a whole bunch of options to get a well equipped vehicle. Genesis has a very limited number of option packages and when added they don’t send the price into the stratosphere.

I’ve just managed to take a base spec RR Vogue D300 from £83,465 (inc VED and 1st Reg) up to £138,263 by ticking the most expensive option I could in each category. That’s an increase of £54,798 or 66% on base price. Total cost is only £6k less than the SWB range topping SVAutobiography Dynamics start price. Disclaimer: I’ve not actually bought one. Just messed around on the Land Rover configurator.

great video!! If I remember rightly.. to replace ONE of those carbon fibre wheels on the Ferrari you're looking at £8k.. Cheaper if you option the car with them (£4K per corner). Same with Porsche or any other manufacturer. £100K+ for a base Macan... That almost the price of a base Cayenne Turbo.. which has lots of standard kit on it including air suspension.. nuts!!! ..and forget getting a discount from Porsche..

Volkswagen.. the Golf Style 1.5 TSI ACT starts at 22.962,24 and with the design pack 1.320,90 and (i think) all options 9.258,20 = 33.541,34 euro.. this is a manual.. if you take the base model which is 19k euro and add a DSG gear box and all of the options, it's way more..

In Germany you can nearly double the price of a BMW 3-Series. Here the 318d starts at 37700€. With all extras you can buy it for 73700€. Thats 95% more as for the basic 3-Series. Or if you want something bigger: The Mercedes GLE 350d starts with 71900€. With all extras you can buy it for 144900€. Thats 101% more as for the basic GLE.

Try a 718 Boxster. Every standard option checked (before a custom paint job) goes from a $59,900 car to a $133,990 car. $72,740 in options. 122% increase on MSRP!

I also look at it like a base Macan to a loaded Turbo. It’s still the same basic car, but go for the top spec engine, trim, and extras and a $50k Macan can turn into a $150k Macan Turbo.

In india the car price automatically doubles the car's price in uk/ us due to taxes. So you're better ahead. Ex. basic Lamborghini huracan costs around "5 crore rupees" that's around "500 thousand pounds".

I own currently BMW F10 535d, wich has 42500€ worth of options on it. And there were many option boxes still unmarked, when first owner ordered it. Now, If You consider, base price for F10 520i was 42800€ and there was atleast over 55000€ worth of options avalable, it works out definitely over 125% price increase over standard model. Cheapest option was S441A Smoker package at 60€ and most expensive P337A M Sports Package 5250€ and XC4 - BMW Individual Composition 6560€.

Same with a lot of cars, even the Audi A1, Volkswagen Polo, Renault Clio, All increase like 75% for full options here.

I configured a new A6 C7 Avant with 3.0 TDI and Quattro. The base price was 54 000 EUR. After I´ve added all options, I managed to get it up to 110 000 EUR. Ceramic brakes for an Audi SQ7 are almost double of the price compared to ceramic brakes for a 911. Breitling clock for a Bentayga costs literally the same as the whole car.
