I really love this movie a lot. Then I start reading the series of Inspector Pitt but somewhere in the middle I lost interest. They were rich with historical knowledge but lacks as detective novel. But this movie has always been my favorite.

Thank you so much for making and posting this lovely trailer. I'd never read anything by Anne Perry, but your trailer made me go to the bookstore and pick up a copy of this book, which I enjoyed immensely. (I've put the DVD at the top of my Netflix queue as well.) Thank you so much for introducing me to this series of books-- I wish more of them had been filmed for the television program! :)

I've read dozens of her books, in chronological order and they're ALL EXCELLENT! She's an incredible writer and doesn't have to use foul language or sexual themes to create thrilling and well-written historical fiction.

I recorded this whole movie on A&E back in 1998 when they aired it. This is a great movie. I love the mystery of it and the time period. I love Victorian anything. The whole movie used to be on youtube and of course they took it off. I watched it a lot when it was on youtube.

Yes it is. The only 2 things I can remember are that the Vicar's wife was gay and the character ( I think he was a doctor) didn't exist at all. I don't know why they added that character at all. To me he didn't make one bit of difference to the story.

No,dear. The cop is the male protagonist. He is acting weird because he is in love with the female protagonist,but can't express it because the girl's family status is higher than his.

I see that ananya aparajita answered it very nicely. I don't want to tell who it is because a lot of people will get mad. Me on the other hand...... I like to know that stuff in advance. It doesn't spoil it for me.

So frustrating that it's impossible to find this movie anywhere that I can actually watch it! I found it on VHS but of course I don't have a VHS player for years now, and I found a DVD for 200 dollars!!! I wish someone would put it up streaming!

I don't think anything is posted on it. I did the trailer as a favor to a friend who wants to promote because she thinks it is a nice film and not many know about it. I agree with her - but I don't think the whole film is online. It can be rented by online rentals, though.

Well M'lady... a friend recommended this to me just recently. A nice little sleeper. I had no trouble finding it on Netflix, but I think I'll buy it, too. I believe this is the only film made, even though it looks like it's suppose to be a series. Cheers m'lady. - Genie

I am afraid that is the only region that the dvd was made for. Strange, as it is a British TV series, I believe, at one time.

Howdy Miss Sue. A "sleeper" is anything undiscovered as of yet. In this meaning, it's a rather nice costume drama that hasn't been seen by a lot of folks. It's been "sleeping". LOL!!
