On this hunt I chase free ranging Aoudad in the rough terrain of West Texas. This giant steep canyon country holds not only wild Aoudad, but a cave in the cliffs adorned with ancient cave paintings of mankind's hunting history. I explore the cave and the mysteries of hunters from thousands of years earlier that were hunting in the same area.
This is one of the last two instalments on The Sako Great Hunt Series.

DaaYaMn...that first ram was a GIANT! Congrats on a successful hunt Remi! So very very cool, like, all of it.....the country, the quarry, the remnants of our indigenous ancient hunter ancestors, y'alls superb capturing of it all, which ultimately makes our ability to join you remotely actually possible...very very cool, ALL OF IT. Thanks for sharing.

Pretty epic hunt in an arid state with only 2% public land. Awesome that you got to see those petroglyphs in the cave. All kinds of history there. Aoudad is definitely a dream hunt and species for me, whether in NM or TX. 🏜️🐐

This is awesome, Remi! I found success on a public land aoudad ram with my bow over the weekend & I owe a lot of the credit for me getting it done to you - thanks for all you pour into the hunting community. I thought of you when I pulled my boots off, tucked in my socks, and made my final stalk across the everything-is-pokey landscape... God bless you, man!

That's a great hunt. Spent a lot of time hunting them in this country and it does not get old. Can you imagine if wild sheep could repopulate their original ranges...auodad demonstrate the carrying cappacity of the land out there.

This was an pretty incredible landscape. Had no idea Texas had that kind of terrain. It looks more like locations in the Owyhee or eastern Oregon and the petroglyphs were extremely interesting and the classy looking rifle was the cherry on top. Id love to hunt those but costs are getting out of control anymore some im limited to small game and varmint hunting.

Nice to see you packing the meat out! I see alot of KZfaqr's letting it go to waste... My wife got her first ewe this year on McGregor Range, we turned the whole sheep into sausage (50% hot italian 50% bratwurst) and it is delicious!!! Congrats on your success!
@RemiWarren
@RemiWarren 6 ай бұрын
I did the same chorizo and italian sausage. But I also slow cooked the front shoulder, for tacos and it was good. Surprised me. I took all the meat home with me and it was not as bad as people say. Maybe I got lucky with a good one.
@BMCBryce
@BMCBryce 6 ай бұрын
I mean no disrespect, but how do you know the “other KZfaqrs” let the meat go to waste? They just may not be filming the entire process. In no way am I condoning that behavior. I just don’t agree with telling a story that we don’t know or have all the details for.

Hey Remi! I'm curious....what native species do the Aoudad displace, or compete with? Or are their habits, and their habitat, simply SO unique...that they are actually one of the invasive species, that really aren't too invasive??
@RemiWarren
@RemiWarren 6 ай бұрын
they actually compete with native desert bighorn sheep in much of their range.

Indigenous peoples inhabited these areas and left those pictographs/petroglyphs. Upon European arrival, other non-native plants and animals were introduced. For example the ibex the oryx etc. Native American ancestry can be traced to these landscapes. Not European.
