A life changing sermon for me. The penny dropped after all these years of believing but not really living the truth of the Gospel. Thank you, Pastor Keller, for being a good and faithful deliverer of God’s message to us.

This is one of the best sermons ever, period. I’ve listened to many Tim Keller sermons, he was the single most important influence on making me a believer again - but this sermon truly stands above the rest if you want the Gospel broken down into its simpliest message. The way that he weaves in the contrast between the Gospel and religion at the start and then the way he works through the breadth and depth of the gospel through the end - and how we struggle to believe it in our heart even when we understand it in our head just as Peter struggled - it is so profound and life changing. Thank you SO much TK, you changed my life!

Amen... Salvation is all of grace Galatians 6:15 Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation (Born again). Ephesians 2:9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. we know good works dont save us. Isaiah 64:6 All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away. Good works are a response to salvation to bring glory to the Lord who saved you. Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Hello, Contantdoodle! If you’re still struggling, I recommend listening to Mark DeJesus. He’s on KZfaq! He really digs into the heart of legalism and has a heart for the gospel. He has helped me understand how much God loves me and the importance of loving myself. I was soo harsh towards myself never feeling good enough. It came from not understanding what Tim is talking about!

Every video with the term, "gospel", in the title, is a disappointment. Only when the gospel, OF Christ, is preached, to the whole world, will he return. The simplicity of it, must not be exciting enough, to puffed up, long winded clergy. The gospel is: Matthew 3:2, 4:17, 23:14, 24:14

Two serious problems with this sermon: 1) Keller denies repentance is essential to a saving response to the gospel, saying that belief alone is required by God. Well, "the demons believe and shudder", but they don't repent. Jesus and the apostles call for repentance in response to the gospel. Keller sets up a straw man by misrepresenting repentance, saying that people claim you have to have your act together and be living rightly and then if you believe you'll be saved. No, repentance involves recognizing ones sinfulness before a holy God and turning from it toward God with new openness---seeing our sinfulness and our need, and how Jesus, and only Jesus, meets that need for forgiveness and cleansing. What Keller presents here is "easy believism". He isn't preaching the gospel. 2) He conflates the gospel with social justice by saying that the gospel informs believers about racism, using Gal. 2:11-16. Keller says that Paul was admonishing Peter for his racism. "Wow," is right! Paul was admonishing Peter for separating from the gentile believers and eating with the false-teaching Judahizers, because he was afraid of them and wanted to be viewed well by them. The other Jewish believers also separated from the gentile believers, following Paul, and ate with the Judahizers. Paul publicly admonished Peter to his face for this "Hypocrisy", and for how he was splitting the church. This is a spiritual issue, not a racial issue. The false=teaching Jews were insisting the gentiles needed to be circumcized, like them, in order to be accepted by God. They were corrupting the gospel by adding works to what the believing gentiles had already gained in Christ, by grace. Here is the text that Keller twists to fit his social justice paradigm: 12 Until certain people came from James, he had been eating with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he stopped doing this and separated himself because he was afraid of those who were pro-circumcision. 13 And the rest of the Jews also joined with him in this hypocrisy, so that even Barnabas was led astray with them by their hypocrisy. 14 But when I saw that they were not behaving consistently with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in front of them all, “If you, although you are a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you try to force the Gentiles to live like Jews?” 15 We are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners, 16 yet we know that no one is justified by the works of the law but by the faithfulness of Jesus Christ. And we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by the faithfulness of Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.

Really? If you say he doesn't teach repentance you did not listen to the sermon...listen again...that's the main thing I've got from the sermon REPENTANCE...twisting the text? He doesn't twist anything, he brings the full import of the gospel...he gives examples upon examples under the gospel...everything in life is to flourish under the gospel of JESUS CHRIST...may GOD bless you my friend with that amazing gospel...!

@@barry.anderberg They obviously haven't changed yours or you wouldn't speak to someone like that. In any case, it is the Good News of Jesus Christ and the FULL counsel of God that changes peoples' lives. Reading or listening to these fundamental truths found in the Bible brings people to repentance and the regenerating power of the Holy Spirit causes them to be transformed from people dead in sin to ALIVE in Christ (Romans 6 and 8) with the Holy Spirit indwelling (without whom we are not Christians: John 1:12-13, Romans 8:9-11, John 14:16-17, 2 Corninthians 13:5) "You MUST be born again" (John 3:7) ""Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are past away; behold all things are become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17)
