Thanks for sharing this 👍 learned a lot about studio investment in the earlier part of the video. As far as how the anime is doing I think it's doing great. I haven't read the manga and I have no prior knowledge about the series before the anime came out on crunchyroll so I didn't get the same vibes that the show is slow or the comedy parts were off sometimes. I think every episode of chainsaw man so far has a lot of quality and care put into it. I mean with episode 4 they did not have to make Aki's morning routine look so nice. I agree the production with the atmosphere is going for a more dramatic tone but as someone who is seeing this for the first time, I don't see that as a bad thing. The one thing that stood out to me was when the zombies were killing Denji in episode 1, his was scream was extended for too long and just seemed silly. As the camera zoomed out and we see how many zombies are attacking him. At that point he had already been stabbed like 10 times. He should have been dead already so it was weird for him to still be crying out. I've been watching anime for many years and I think this one will be hit. Whether it's big like Demon Slayer is up in the air.

you miss quoted otsuka. not hating i think you just miss read it. you said " its there first time doing anything " and the direct quote you show on screen says " there first time doing everything " . i do ultimately agree with you tho that the teams probably stressed. during the fight scenes i see the animation quality drop but then 2 minutes later, they will animate a cup of coffee or clothes blowing in the wind that just blows my mind and im like WHOA these guys are good. its a bit jarring to the senses but, all in all i say there doing an ok job.

Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer didn't explode in popularity in the first few episodes, Demon Slayer exploded when episode 19 came out, Jujutsu also exploded when episode 19 came out and the director of episode 19 of JJK is Ryu Nakayama the director of CSM. I'm kinda surprised by your take, I personally think that the way they are handling at least the first episodes is majestic... The slow pacing fits perfectly with the cinematic look that the show is getting. I don't remember seeing anything with this kind of aesthetic, and I think grounds the mayhem a lot, and I think that it's flow it's exactly what we need in this tik-tok era. Maybe it won't be what the majority wants but i don't care... I just hope MAPPA gets the returns it deserves and hopefully can continue to deliver things like this. And as many people said before... the madness is yet to come, and judging by the endings (my god 3rd one made me wet) they are fully capable of delivering.

I disagree with your opinion. Chainsaw Man has been nothing short of fantastic so far. The 4 episodes we have blow the first 4 episodes of JJK and Demon Slayer out of the water. The sheer quality of the anime is absolutely nuts and it's already one of the best looking anime I've ever seen. I mean fight scene wise we had the smallest and most unimportant fights so far and seeing how Mappa went absolutely crazy for those, the later ones that are actually important should look absolutely insane. Another thing CSM has been amazing at is the character acting animations. In that regard CSM is even second to none in my opinion... I've never seen an anime that looks that gorgeous just during simple dialogue scenes or slice of life scenes. The only thing that it does worse than the manga is the humor but that doesn't really bother me that much to be honest as the best stuff about CSM was never the humor for me. I'm praying that the anime fulfills Mappa's wishes and expectations because they deserve all the praise in the world in my eyes.

I am extremely happy with it so far. I am glad to see they are wanting to be faithful to the manga. The characters are the best part of the story, as they are all interesting and have diverse personalities that gel well with each other. Power is, without a doubt, the best character on the show so far, because she has that fun energy to help change the mood and elevate scenes, but is one that you can see a lot of people loving her developing friendships that she really wanted. I think this first season is definitely going to be a ramp up. If they can manage to use the reaction as motivation to take more chances on the look and feel of the show, so it starts to mirror the same feel and look in the manga that we know and love, the show will take off into that upper echelon of great shows.
@takanara7
@takanara7 Жыл бұрын
Apparently people are complaining that it's not faithful to the manga enough, it's apparently from people who mostly read it as light and goofy rather then dark and "realist-y" (as opposed to 'realistic'), but the thing is different people can read a manga in a different way, like how seriously the characters are saying the lines, the pacing, etc are all up to you as a reader even though there are drawings.

@@takanara7 Well in terms of the story the only things they have really changed from the manga to the anime was removing a very short fight with a weak devil, as well as adding a few anime-only scenes during 2 of the fights we've seen so far, and I wouldn't say these are bad changes because the fight with the weak devil lasted about one panel of the manga and didn't hold too much importance to the story and the points it got across were adapted into the dialogue of the anime instead, as for extending the fights a bit I personally like these changes because I feel it elevates the fights more and adds a bit more spectacle whilst still staying true to the story. So overall I believe it is staying faithful to the manga

I totally agree, it feels a lot more cinematic and kind of "uncomfortable" Unlike the first part of the chainsaw man manga. So I can understand why people get disappointed about the CSM anime not being all so exaggerated and goofy but I think they are missing out on the direction this anime takes following the "new style" of Fugimoto by focusing to much on what they expected from the feeling the manga gave.

@@felixthecat403 I didn't see CSM being "exaggerated and goofy" when I read it, it seemed like "magical realism" like a Haruki Murakami novel. IMO it seemed like the Demons had sort of exaggerated human-like personalities but the human characters and the rest of the world were very realistic. Some of the best parts of the manga were the moments of introspection and characters enjoying the quiet, simple pleasures of life. The anime makes those scenes SING. Maybe that's the reason we're in chapter 8 by episode 3. Cuz mappa is planning on spending that time creating something different from the manga, thats what ive been tryig to say. Your problems with the anime are literally what I found good about it, it isn't trying to be a typical shonen like Demon Slayer or Jujutsu Kaisen. It takes it's time in focusing on subtle character animation and cinematic shots and character expressions faitfully to the mangaka's style. The quite silent moments you criticised also add a lot to the actual mood of the show which is aiming for a more cinematic feel rather than a fast paced for slow-attention spans that most shonen aim. The main ideas and themes of the show are what's important and the way this is adapted shows a lot of focus on that. Also the very few CGI scenes they used are good and even the ones they animated in 2D were so good people though they were 3D and started hating on them lol (basically hating on an animation for being too good lol) the rest was amazingly drawn 2D animation, the fact you compared it with Demon slayer and beastars CGI kinda shows you don't really know how animation works, animating mechanical objects that have to be moving around all the time isn't really comparable to any of the stuff in Demon Slayer or JJK in term of difficulty, it is extremely hard and the fact that they only used CGI for it in CM for like a few seconds in a couple scenes while the rest is 2D just shows how much effort was put in. Even your criticism of the colors doesn't make sense since the colors chosen and the way each episode looks visually just goes with what the epsiode is about, silly action episodes like 4th have more colors, dark origin story episode like 1rst are gray and dark which fit the scenes, not everything need to be colorful all the time, that's not being edgy, that's just being aware of the change of tones and hints to strong directive work from the show director and animation directors. Also you seem to have focused on the fact that the team is young and inexperienced when in reality they've been having some of the best experienced animators and episode directors for each episode while still having a lot of amazing young talented artists. Most of your criticisms seem to be based on the fact the anime isn't adapted the same way other shonen anime get adapted while that's the point of the adaptation, the staff understand the author's direction and are actually implementing it the best way possible. This anime is the first glimpse of actually innovative storytelling and directing I've seen in anime since a loong time and it's shaping up to be a classic

Bro you are sharing my brain lol. When I heard the criticism in this video i also thought "all of it is exactly why I love this adaptations so much already". It's basically anti-normie. It takes it's time and makes use of visual storyteling like no other shonen anime, you can see how much thought and dedication went into every second, even when characters are just talking or doing mundane stuff all of it looks way above others. It's also in line with Fujimoto's vison, you can even see that film inspiration in his manga and now we see it even more in the adaptation. Also I didn't even notice it until you mentioned it - there's a lot more saturated color in the crazy fight scenes that creates great contrast with calm moments. That makes me aprreciate the direction even more

Frankly, I haven't read the manga, and it was the hype train to this anime. And, all told, I am not disappointed. This show slaps hard; it's the kind of shot in the arm the post-COVID anime culture needs right now (I'll admit, I stretched a little for that pun). It could certainly use more action - this kind of theme and aesthetic BEGS for brutal fights - but I appreciate that the characters are well-developed, the world is explained succinctly, and what action we do get is raw, visceral, and chaotic, just the way the kids like it. If the show needs ANYTHING, other than more action, it's stakes. Like yeah, we get it, Denji is a total horndog who slays demons for the promise of touching tiggles, every young shonen protag's dream, amirite? But it feels like there should be a lot more gravity to a story like this. And maybe, those who have read the manga know something I don't, which would be great. I just hope the anime gets around to telling the rest of us about it, like maybe sometime around the next episode. Which I'm totally watching when it drops on Tuesday. I think MAPPA's gamble is going to pay off huge. 💰

I can appreciate the more subdued take you have on the CSM anime. You're coming into it from the perspective of a reader of the manga, you have your own series of expectations for the series, and all the points you raise are cogent and come from a place of deep personal investment in what is clearly a fantastic piece of entertainment. Hopefully, nobody seriously tries to take you to task in ugly ways over what amounts to personal opinion, but this IS KZfaq and this IS about anime, lol. For what it's worth, I'm an anime-only viewer of the series. I came into it utterly blind. And maybe I'm totally out of sync with expectations, or have a different attention span, or my taste is "off" in some way, but CSM is easily one of my favorite anime of the year. The slow pacing has made the quieter moments of peace and normality really speak to me, and the whiplash into the absurd action sequences (the few we've had) contrasts wonderfully with it. There was something magical about the sheer joy our protag has with eating foods that were previously out of reach. Power's entire presence is fantastic. I'm 100 percent on board, and at this point the only thing preventing me from reading the manga is that I don't want to spoil the show for myself just yet. Visually, I'm impressed. I find that the color tones really fit with this strange, dreamlike world where we have demons and mass-casualty incidents caused by said-demons being this regular thing, and Public Security has a division dedicated to responding to said-incidents. If an anime came out about Gun Demons shooting up places in the US, I'd almost expect it to match the same, dreamlike quality. I dunno, it makes the world of CSM feel like it's been overrun by a sense of apathy. This is "just how things are", and we're all just passing through and its all not that big a deal... until one of those demon incidents happen to us. The CG honestly didn't bother me, either. It's obviously there, but never reached what I personally felt was jarring. Anyway, this is overly long, but ultimately I just wanted to say I appreciated this video a lot. Keep doing what you do!

Yeah the thing is a lot of the feel of a manga is really up to the reader to decide as they read it. Even though you have pictures, things like what the pacing is, the emotional weight of various lines and what characters mean when they them is determined by the reader. When I read the CSM manga it definitely seemed like "dark and gritty" and also "realistic" in the sense of realistic characters living in a world where this stuff just happens and is an everyday fact of life, and how that would play out. It seemed similar to a genre called "Magical Realism" with authors like Haruki Murakami, where surreal supernatural stuff happens but you have realistic characters who react to those things as if they were just part of their day or whatever. > This is "just how things are", and we're all just passing through and its all not that big a deal... until one of those demon incidents happen to us. Yeah that's definitely the vibe I got from the manga early on. > If an anime came out about Gun Demons shooting up places in the US Bruh...

So far I love the story, the perverted parts are a little off for me personally but hey I can’t hate him for trying 😂 The thing is though, I think B-pop was talking about “mass appeal” hits vs cult classics that this may become. Which can end the entire series for all of us is it doesn’t hit the right notes. It’s the niche of it that we love that may be it’s end. The CGI though is a bit jarring for me, just that it doesn’t match the other animation that it’s used on top. Also during certain action sequences it’s done in a jittery slow-mo kinda way that is like “what” but I can mostly ignore that and hope they get better with it over time.

I think the increased "edginess" that you're feeling is an appropriate mood shift, emulating the dark, complex cinematic canon that Fujimoto has consistently professed so much love for (I mean, it's all over the opening). Then, It'd mean that you're sacrificing on Chainsaw Man's uniqueness for . . . mass appeal? I'd rather this adaptation have to struggle and succeed by its own merits than conform to some sort of perceived standard. This series feels so unique. The shading, compositing of different animation styles, scene framing, and character animation have a cinematic quality that shouldn't simple be brushed off as being too different to succeed. I really don't understand this video. First of all, why is this "chainsaw man" video more like a "demon slayer animation is good" kind of video. Chainsaw man's animation is absolutely phenomenal. Action isn't the only thing that needs to have good animation. There's also character acting which chainsaw man does arguably better than the action scenes which i love. Like makima tying Denji's tie or aki fixing his hair. I really don't understand the sales argument here. The series has 16-18 million copies in circulation before the anime which is like, the second best performing manga prior to their anime in the past 20 years (only behind spy family). And the backlogs for chainsaw man are doing their job (Not sure how it performs compared to spy, JJK or demon slayer though) But the numbers are really good. All the volumes are in the top 50 last week and this week. But again, this is kinda irrelevant. Earlier in the video you mentioned how it was different but then later you say how it isn't bringing it to life in a different way. Which is it? Fujimoto stated in an interview he wants the anime to do something different and they can ignore the manga. The anime is going for a more cinematic and ambient feel which is personally what i felt when reading the manga I like that its going for a more live action feel. It takes me out more when characters act cartoony like change in animation than CGI. Being a manga reader isn't good when reviewing an anime because instead of enjoying it, you are more critical of it and more nitpicky. Same thing happened to me with AOT and Kaguya sama. Not many people read the JJK manga prior to the anime and even less for demon slayer so the impact for those shows seem bigger. Like, how is mappa gonna make a bigger splash on chainsaw man when it was the 4 most popular manga on MAL, trailers got views like AOT and was outselling manga like JJK and demon slayer in the west.

I'm trying to understand these kinds of reviews, but I kinda find it hard...I mean, I guess since I haven't read the manga, I didn't overhype the series and didn't have a specific tone in mind. I understand the manga fans that were maybe expecting something more crazy, like the stuff Studio Trigger does (loved Cyberpunk by the way)...But I'm glad that they approached it from a more cinematic point of view. A lot of the shots were beautifully done. The scene where Aki is going through the never ending hotel is great, expecially when compared to the manga, where he just passes by. Then there's the characters . The pilot alone made me feel for Denji, liking him immediately and understanding his motives. It made me care for a kid that thinks about boobs and food, because it made me understand why he craves simple pleasures in life. Unlike Yuji from Jujutsu Kaisen that feels like a cliché protagonist that wants to do good... The whole story around Aki and Himeno was great. Even though Himeno was like in four episodes, she left an impact and you were reminded of her death until the last episode. They really fleshed out their friendship and how much she meant to Aki. Power's just awesome, what more can I say.... Is it perfect .... no, I don't expect every episode to blow me away. But the whole season, with the opening, unique endings and so many references was a great experience. And honestly, I prefer them using the grunge/a bit more realistic 3D approach with the simplified 2D characters..kinda gave it a rusty look. Compared to something like Demon Slayer, with the more cartoony textures on 3d objects .

First let me say that I like this channel and respect that you are not a shill but I disagree with a couple of things. 1. This show "looks" WAY better than Jujutsu Kaisen does. The animation is better and it is way more stylized with a consistent tone. 2. A lot of the same issues you mentioned could be said of JJK, like long dialogues, and muted color palettes that don't look like the volume covers. Also, humor is subjective, but JJK isn't really that funny either. 3. I understand not liking the pacing too much so far, but pilot manga chapters tend to be a lot longer than the average chapter. Also not every anime has to appeal to the "average viewer" , This is not the same kind of show as JJK and DS. It may not be a "one-to-one" adaptation and can improve, but I just can't imagine saying it is anything below astounding so far. It may be "different" from the manga but it's still phenomenal.

I think you’re objectively wrong about the animation in this case. The leech devil fight from ep 4 was an actual feast to the eyes, with animation on the level of Jujutsu Kaisen. I think the lack of flashy visual effects is deceiving to most at first glance. A clip from Demon Slayer looks insane not only because of the animation but also the flashy visual effects. Chainsaw Man has undeniably has the animation. Everything from Aki’s morning routine to Makima tying Denji’s tie, to the crazy fights are gorgeously animated. What (as you addressed) Chainsaw Man lacks is the color and saturation that makes a clip of Demon Slayer look appealing to most people. A clip of Demon Slayer is immediately appealing at first glance. A clip from Chainsaw Man needs you to be actively watching to appreciate the animation- it just isn’t as immediately visually appealing. You think Mappa’d slack on animation talent for a show that they’re literally putting all their chips in for? A show that they’re making 12 unique endings for? IMO, Chainsaw Man is a story that continually ramps up, with each arc being crazier and more hype-inducing than the last. The manga didn’t blow up in popularity until the last couple of arcs, after all. So this is my prediction, assuming MAPPA maintains the current level of production quality. Season 1 will be very successful and will rival JJK’s success, though it might not match it since Chainsaw Man’s characters are less family friendly and accessible than JJK. However, CSM season 2 will see a resurgence in popularity like few anime have ever achieved, especially if the second season adapts up through the arc after the International Assassins arc. (Note: I avoided saying the arc’s name to avoid spoiling anime onlies, as the arc’s title references a devil that hasn’t been talked about in the anime yet)

Haven’t read the manga but the pacing, color, even the cgi which I usually hate, had me in awe the entire time. I went in without hype, without expectation, and what I got was a very human story. The animation even with the cgi highlights the most mundane mannerisms. The first fight between the katana akuma and Aki blew me away. As you say it’s all opinions 😂 and to each to own. Hope you don’t take disagreement as a diss I rly am a huge fan of the channel

I think the coolest thing about the chainsaw anime is that it really feels like the creators get the source material, the fact that they understand how important practically every bit of the manga is to the overall story it tells and how many details that are laid out very early on that get paid off so much later, thats probably the riskiest part of chainsaw man. If you cut anymore from these beginning episodes, the story is just going to be an incoherent mess. (They already cut muscle devil, may he rest in peace ;-; ) Also, my favourite part of the manga was the quiet bits, the calm "just the characters living their lives" bits, it's very cinematic in nature which makes an anime the perfect medium to really bring that silence and comfort to life. With manga you can just blast through the quiet downtime to get to the action, but the anime sits you down and forces it down your throat, which again is risky. But I think it's better for it, I love the soundtrack and the sound effects, the visuals are pure candy. I like the cg ;-; there were only 2 points where I thought the cg wasn't good, the first time Denji transforms into chainsaw man and it close up pans over his arms was a little meh, and when he was lying in the debris in episode 3 he looked out of place from the rest of the scene, but for every other time even though I could "tell" when cg was being used I thought it was used incredibly well and I love it, especially when I saw so much of episode 4 fight being pure 2d (or incredibly well used cg cause it looks purely drawn to me and i've watched it 4 times lol). And the physics of the clothing moving on people's bodies omg its sooo goood.....

About the color pallete and general direction of the series: I feel like he whole point made about how it doesn't match the ultra-colorful manga covers is way more a matter of what your impression of the series was as you were reding it. To me the manga always felt weird and indie, but also punk when stuff started to heat up. Was it chaotic? Most certainly, but not always. There were many moments in which it brought to me a weird lo-fi vibe as the characters were interacting with each other. Very dream-like and experimental, almost like what you'd get with the earlier Silent Hill games. And then when the action kicked in it felt very punk and 90s as the art popped off like graffiti and the violence scales with what's going on. The mood of the anime matches a lot of what I initially imagined, to be honest and I'm happy to say that the people around my circle of friends who were not initiated into the manga (including both male and female anime veterans and newcomers) are very much into the series so far. What I hear the most is how impressed they are with the overall presentation. The slower pace, framing and coloring makes it feel like you're watching a classic western movie almost, unlike the framing you usually get with anime. Characters move, speak and express themselves in more human-like ways and it really comes down to the techniques they are using. I feel like a lot of the bets Mappa made with this project could pay out, they just have to keep it consistent. What they will struggle with the most IMO is Denji and how his character has basiclly 0 social ethics imprinted in his brain from the get-go. I see some people walking out from it because it's not an appealing main character, and it's sad but understandable. Watching his evolution as a human being despite the shitty job most people around him do at actually inserting him properly back into civilization is one of the gratest joys I have as I read the manga chapters, and I feel like the anime is doing a really good job at giving just enough hints of how his brain processes things. Denji's earlier living conditions damaged his perspective of the world around him and he's basically working off of his hormones for values, in the manga it was tough sometimes to paint a picture of what was going on in his head because all that comes ou of it is boobs and horny energy, but with the lingering moments and, as far as I'm concerned, brilliant voice-acting in the anime, I see a lot of people grasping on how he associates stuff way easier than I did my first time with the manga. Some have also noted how there's actually a lot of wisdom on how differently that teenager values the things around him and how he deconstructs the idea of goals and aspirations which have been tropes and staples of shounen manga/anime characters for years. I came pretty pessimistic to the prospect of a Chainsaw Man anime in 2022, as in my head the MC was going to be very divisive, if not controversial (as well as other aspects of the story in general), but after seeing people's reactions around I've been pleasantly surprised with the positive reception and I feel like the animation is doing a lot of the lifting there too. So yeah, i'll give it it's remaining 8 episodes to see where we get with this one. It hasn't dissapointed me so far.

Just wanted to throw in my .02$. I'm female, older, don't read Manga, but, do watch anime occasionally. I haven't read Chainsaw Man, and I bought the first 100 chapters after I watched the first episode. I've never bought a Manga before. I found it compelling, I loved the set up, the characters were gritty and pathetic, not perfect or polished. So far I watch episodes as they are released, I usually wait till the end of a season so I don't have to wait. And I'm watching it subtitled, which I only do when I really enjoy the story and can concentrate fully. Part if the appeal is that amazing opening credit, let's be real, that has been one of the best title sequences that has ever been scored and animated, ever. I think this will only grow with time, as long as they continue what they are doing, and don't drop the ball on plot or pacing. I've talked to friends that also are only casual watchers, and they are just as enthused as I am. The only draw back on distribution and popularity that I can forsee right now is the mature and dark subject matter limiting its fan base. This absolutely reads as a passion project, please don't let the studio f this up by trying to interfere with the directors vision.

I really don't understand Your criticisms here, this show is a huge breath of fresh air, when I'm watching it it doesn't feel like other shonen anime and for You it seems like it's a problem which I really don't get? Like, don't get me wrong, I love Demon Slayer but comparing it to CSM doesn't make much sense, CSM is much more deliberate in its story telling and themes and so far the adaptation is doing a fantastic job SPECIFICALLY BEACAUSE of the things You criticize, like the slower pace of certain episodes, which helps with setting up character arcs and their relationships with each other, or the color palette which I just don't get, when I was reading the manga that's exactly how I imagined the show would've looked like! Is it a bit different than other shonen anime around? Of course, its devoid of that bright, vanilla-ass, over saturated look and this is what I appreciate the most about it, it looks super unique and it often changes depending on the direction of different episodes and scenes, like how the first episode looks super grim and gritty but then lighter episodes like 2 and 4 feel a lot more vibrant and colorful to match their playful tones, its shot very differently to what other anime has made us used to and colors are definitely the big part of that - like this shot of Aki approaching Makima's apartament in ep4, this shit looked like a scene from a live action film, the lightning in that scene was so unique and well done, I really don't understand the point You're trying to make here. All in all it feels like it isn't "anime" enough for You, which on one hand I get, its a risky choice that might not gel with typical anime watchers that are going to be the main target audience for it, but when it comes to adapting CSM i feel like almost every single choice MAPPA has made so far literally could not be more faithful to the original, its an amazing work of art that maybe has its problems (I agree with some of Your points regarding CGI and maybe some jokes not landing here and there) but it feels like it might elevate the original work, which is the ultimate goal of a great adaptation, so far I've enjoyed every single episode, and so did two of my friends who have never heard of CSM and aren't really that into anime to begin with, which I think says something about the uniqueness of it.

So one thing I will say right now: Chainsaw Man part 1 is a stark contrast to how Fujimoto actually likes to write, which is how the anime is portraying it right now. Read his very, VERY long one shot "Goodbye Eri." It's about 4-5ish chapters worth of content, but it feels like an entire arc with how it's paced. And with the way he uses panels and literally copy-pastes them to slow down the pace, it takes its time. Now personally, I enjoy slower shows. I can pick things apart and let the tension sit in. It's probably why I actually prefer the show, because the manga tried to do the OPPOSITE the first time around. They cut out an entire fight that basically was only in the manga just to keep the readers' retention. I don't even think you guys remember what it is. I barely remember it, and it never came back like everything else was. It's still early in the season, so we'll see how far it decides to go (I'm betting they're gonna stop at Katana Man) but I do think it will at least get a second season even if it doesn't slam it out of the park like it really wants to.

If I go through the trouble of starting a new anime I'm not dropping it in the first 10 seconds, it would have to show some outrageous shit for me to do that. Anime is so bright these days and i tend to like less bright pallets. Cinematography/layout and character acting go along way for me i think episode 1 was the weakest for me and the episodes imo have steadily gotten better making ep 4 my favorite so far this anime feels like it’s going to be a slow burn when it comes to getting the point. I’m not sure how peoplewill genuinely feel about that. A side note, i do work at a barnes and noble and i talk to alot of the manga readers there, ranging from teens through their twenties. chainsawman readers seem to be happy with what they’ve seen at least in my store, time will tell, however i do really love the production, however I’m an animator myself and what makes me happy in an anime production is probably different than what makes others happy. so my guess is as good as anyone else’s with how thisll do. i really love the insight here.

I disagree with the sentiments. I understand what you were saying and appreciate the fact that you said that it is your opinion cause plenty of anime and manga people want state their opinions as "fact", however I do want to pushback on the stuff you said, so this might be a bit long. First, In terms of the color palette of the show, I think it looks good, nothing really wrong with it. Chainsaw man, to me never really came as the flashy bright colored series in my opinion. In terms of the pacing, I think it actually very well paced, especially the slow moments that allow the moments that are happening to breath. If you look at the manga, Fujimoto practically designed his story in like a movie in manga form. He continuously uses repeated panel shots of the same thing to create a certain feeling or vibe in the moment. Chainsaw man always had theses slow moments, I think you only noticed since they are now being adapted in the anime. When in manga form, you don't notice these slow moments because most people who read manga read the chapters very quickly so the moments are not noticeable unless a mangaka has created a chapter where nothing else is happening other than the slow moments. In terms of the comedy, I have seen a couple of people who have said that the comedy isn't as funny and outrageous as the manga. Which is understandable, but it very hard to nail down with the facial expressions and such since the manga has a very distinct style to it. I think alot of people are enjoying the comedy especially since they got to know more about the characters but it really is subjective to how each person finds what is funny. All in all, I think that Chainsaw Man is a very strong contender for AOTY and I don't think that MAPPA is taking a huge risk with this at all. If you would've said this before the anime dropped, I would've been more on your side of things. But now that I've gotten to see where they are going with it, I and a boatload of fans of the manga and anime only watchers are enjoying Chainsaw Man. I love the fact they are giving the anime a great cinematic and realistic take on animation with fluidity, camera angles, lighting, etc., while being true and faithful to Fujimoto's work which all the fans could hope for. Fujimoto himself is also working closely with MAPPA on the anime and how the staff loves this manga, I think that if Fujimoto had some things that he wanted to be done with the anime like all the things you stated, I think MAPPA would be very inclined to listen to his inputs. Great vid and keep up the work

Incredible video, this is a video I needed to see this type of video because it allows me to watch without watching, meaning I I don't want to see what the anime looks like in videos untill I finished watching the anime but this video allows me to look away but still get new content
