The Chantays were one hit wonders while at Santa Ana High School, Ca, because their parents wouldn't let them tour until after graduation. They told me that as a bar band in late 80s, Dana Point, I bar tended and they were too much fun. Lots of retired Hollywood types came in (Tab Hunter was nice, Wilbur from Mr Ed was cool, OJ not so much) these guys were the best. Heard Pipeline 3 times a night, love them forever.

Love this song. I used to to listen to a cal state northridge college radio station that played comedy on Sunday nights. The show would end with “they’re coming to take me away” and then Pipeline by these guys. This was the era of stations going off the air at night so the end bars of Pipeline always seemed so dystopian and apocalyptic to me and then it was followed by radio static and dead air. Creepy as hell. I loved it.
