Okay, so... basically, they created a series with a super bad guy, then didn't shoot themselves in the foot by creating an even superer bad guy within the good guy ranks, but still had conflict within those ranks. Amazing how literally the simplest of ideas are the hardest to excuse.

The art style is kinda giving Thunderbirds, and therefore my interest is fully piqued.

The mark of a well-written character is that you find things to like and to dislike about them. Also, there's nothing more dangerous than a man willing to do horrific things in the name of the greater good.

This is a good show. Perfectly summed up how good all the characters are for their shades of grey. Just to add to Olivia's arc, when she is confronted about the killing of the mechs to make Hero Force, the lazy thing to do would be to have her go "whoa, that’s messed up, I had no idea, we should look into that." And we might not be surprised by that as she has become Stanford's friend. The show had the guts for her to revert to angry, entitled Olivia and initially deny Stanford's accusation. To have her still do the wrong thing despite her growth is bold, and makes the story stronger as a result.

Ok but let's be honest here... Those Spacebugs are most definitely Tyranids in the making...

Yes! I was hoping you'd cover Mech Cadets, I can't wait for the video on Frank and disability. Love your points about the show's character complexity, it would've been easy to make NPC antagonists and side characters to just cause problems and move the plot along, but they didn't do that. Everyone is sort of in that gray area of humanity.

Im so glad you’re covering Mech Cadets! I really enjoyed season 1 and I think it has the potential to really be an amazing show later on, if we will get a season 2.

Never heard of this show but it seems very Evangelion-esque. Pretty cool! Maybe you could check out Neon Genesis Evangelion because you enjoyed this (if you haven’t already.) It’s a pretty similar premise but a lot darker than this show seems and deals with a lot of heavy topics. I love your videos and find your voice very calming 😊

I haven't watched Mech Cadets myself but what you've shown and talked about in it is reminding me a lot of Skyward by Brandon Sanderson. The comic for this came out 2017 and Skyward 2018 so I think its probably just coincidence but it just makes me want to watch this even more now with all the similar vibes and setting.

Yes! I too thought everything she did after the reveal of Veritas (the truth lol) was so the Robo’s death wasn’t in vain, in a way, I guess. What you said. A second hand guilt, you know? The depth of each character really does make me like this show a lot. Even in Adam Williams, can you believe it? Olivia is my favorite character and I can’t wait to see her journey in season 2. That makes 2 parents who didn’t want their kids near the Robos if Standard's mom is same as in comic she makes it very clear in issue 1 she wants him safe on the ground

Only saw the trailer and read first 2 issues but one major difference is that Stanford in comic cant remember his dad and in show he does and his Mech's name comes from a remembered nickname. And in comic he doesnt sneak into basic training he just goes to the mountain where cadets bond with Robos, he helps his mom with her janitor job in comic but changing this makes sense as he is obviously undersge to work, as he looks about 12 and in US depends on place but most have to be 15 or 16 in order to work legally except for stuff like babysitting and dog walking which this isnt. There is no sharg until end of issue 2 where they are mentioned being back.

Your description of this show makes it sound very similar to Iron Widow. I wonder if you've read that book yet and your thoughts on it? I really enjoyed it, the main character is such a wonderful strong willed warrior spirit. She's apparently loosely based off the first female emperor of China.

Could you do a video essay on Edward Scissorhands? The disability aspect of it, the autistic coded behaviour, and the hating someone because they’re different would be perfect for your channel, I think. Especially when the disability causes the person with it to harm themselves, yet people think of it as harming others.

The writing is questionable but I’d be curious for your opinions on the character Fizzaroli’s disability and how it’s portrayed. He’s living a very happy life despite a loss of all his limbs, but there’s also some insecurities he has about it. Also sometimes it feels like it’s brought up for drama points but idk, I have mixed feelings about it.
