Actually , poison ivy is not ivy, but Toxicodendron radicans. It is the same as Poison oak is not oak, but Toxicodendron pubescens. Names Poison ivy or Poison oak are common names used in english speaking countries. There is much misunderstanding so I decide to explain it to some accident visitors. Ivy is just Parthenocissus sp. or Hedera sp..
