Luca is one of the villains you don’t feel triumphant from when you finally kill them. You feel relieved, knowing such evil no longer walks the earth.

He's such a solid JRPG villain. He's my favorite in the series, which is a big deal in a series like Suikoden. I especially like that after his defeat, he doesn't pull out any of the clichés that usually come with the defeated villain speeches. He just mocks you. He killed so many more people then you can imagine, committed atrocities and war crimes that would probably make most murderous psychopaths look like harmless kittens, made your home an unreturnable location, and it took hundreds of your own soldiers probably dying to defeat him. He doesn't look at death as a loss, he looks at it as an expected end to his winning streak.

Luca: I said act like a pig! Villager: Yes! Yes! Oink oink oink! Luca: Hoo hoo ha ha ha ha ha ha! Hee hee hee ha ha ha! Very good! Villager: So that means? Luca: DIE PIG!!!

The Mad Prince, so strong it took an army to trap and kill him, several volleys of arrows, three fights, and a duel.

A lot of villains in games these days are more relatable, tragic characters. Yeah, they're doing the wrong thing and they're the enemy, but they're doing what they think is right, and under different circumstances they could be an ally. Not Luca Blight. You meet him at the very beginning of the game having ordered the slaughter of his own army's youth brigade, and he only becomes more evil from there. It was so satisfying to finally bring down someone whose black heart is only matched by his incredible personal power. Fighting him and hearing his unique boss music still gives me chills.

Hell yes! Luca Blight's boss theme still rocks to this day! Very nice work. Suikoden is dead as a series, but Eiyuden Chronicle will carry its torch proudly. But we must never forget the once great series it hopes to represent in spirit. And Suikoden II was its peak.

I bet anyone that have played Suikoden II for the first time got them asses serve on a plate together with your 3 party team heads by the mad prince with just a sharp sword.

Luca Blight, I can't say enough about what a terrifying villain he was, I would say even more so than either Kefka or Sephiroth. I dare anyone to tell me otherwise. He was so well-written. Truly a psychotic, deranged and outright sociopathic bastard who viewed people as nuisances to be destroyed and destroy them he did. The events of Ryube village showcasing this especially well. There was no love lost between him and his family, considering the backstory of what happened, his father Agares was a coward and Jillia was a half-sister as a result of this outcome. Either way, he held no regard for anyone but himself. Had he been allowed to continue his conquest unabated? He would've brought Jowston, nay, the entire world of Suikoden to heel in a blazing inferno.

Glad to see Miki Higashino's amazing S2 music still getting love in 2021. This is a great cover - a lot of personal artistic flourishes without losing the core of what makes it a great track.

Luca Blight was a demon in human flesh so psychotic, ruthless, and evil that even the other antagonists(Leon, Jowy, Seed, & Culgan) were all "Yeah, he needs to die". What really got me is before he died, he was not the least bit upset that he was dying, he just laughed in the end and even though King Sublime of Evil was slain, the main protagonists were disturbed by his final words. He was the most brutal and evil antagonist of Suikoden and he managed to make his own death bittersweet. To quote Mark Antony from The HBO series Rome: "Now that was an exit..."

WHAT! I cannot BELIEVE this video came out so recently! I instantly have respect for anyone who remembers the Suikoden games (not including the completely unrelated spinoffs that came after 5). I played back when the first one came out and, til this day, I STILL feel strongly about them and cherish the Hell out of them.

Oh wow, I wasn't expecting your first Suikoden cover to be so hype, let alone part of a new Side Quests album! Great job. Both the main mix and the Acoustic short were amazing.

Luca Blight had a tragic background; but what he chose to do in response more or less is a justified response; but it doesn't erase the damage he does. While the Mad Prince had reason for what he chose to do; his aggression held out on the people just fighting to survive just proved there was no other way to stop the madness. If Luca wasn't killed; everyone would be slaughtered until there was nothing left. At the end of the day; while his background is important to why he does things; it's not important to the people he kills, or the heroes... it just makes us understand what twisted him, and made him hate... Unlike some monarchs in games, Luca was not only a strong tactician, but Luca could hold his own in combat, after being hit by several volleys of arrows; but he took on 3 groups of 6 warriors; all armed with the best equipment and runes they could carry... and then there's the moment you learn; that Luca Blight only uses the beast rune to enhance his arm strength; he coated his sword in oil so it would catch fire while swinging it in this state. When you sit down and think about it; that's metal as hell. Only after witnessing the resolve of the heroes; does Luca finally accept that he is defeated, after fighting to his final stand... but, he doesn't go down screaming, or begging for mercy; or explaining his story to try to get some pity... he absolutely loves the fact that no matter what you do; his name will be remembered in history; as the Man who tore the nation to shreds; the very definition of evil, and perfect hatred... whatever follows; his legacy will be remembered for generations to come... and he loves the fact, that thousands of lives were cut down by his hand. This is how you make a perfect villain.

Luca Blight... Now I have not heard that name in quite some time. Suikoden II holds a very special place in my childhood, so seeing this cover is truly quite the treat. Thank you.

Sephiroth, Kuja, Kefka, Yuber, Windy, noone is as pure evil as how Luca Blight was written! Pure evil and madness devoted to kill and slaughter! Killing Luca mid game left me speachless, I thought he would be the final boss, but not, mid game there he is, slaying down everyone in the parties, to end up in a duel where he doesnt even die, it takes two more rain of arrows for him to finaly die, and when he does, he even then mocks his enemies. What a character!

For being a "human" (the translation of this game was so bonkers at times but I think he was just a human who like, inherited the power of the Beast Rune?? Idk), Luca was a fucking monster. Even being overlevelled this fight was such a phenomenal nightmare. Also yeah, his ending speech of "It took hundreds to kill me but I have killed thousands" is just the kind of insanely evil epic quote for an unstoppable force of nature like Luca.
