This here is how a Cheap Bastard makes some crazy awesome budget concious bomb proof bicycle panniers - for peanuts on the dollar. May not necessarily be the best way, but it`s my way, by god! Give it a think. Enjoy.

Dude, the tire tubes and buckles is a genius idea... So many applications outside of your project... Thanks for that one!

Hey, no kidding these things are awesome and they really work! I just picked up two new Tidy cat litter buckets from the recycle bins here in Montreal. Getting ready to make a new set of rear panniers with integrated lids. Each one holds 20 liters of shit. Cheers from Montreal QC, and Merry New Year!

The cool thing about these low budget panniers is that they work great! The flip up lid on the larger one is the bomb, baby. I went out and bought some high dollar cat litter (yes, I have a cat) just to lay my hands on the plastic bucket with the flip up lid. Cheers from Montreal QC

Thank so much [Enter name here] that's a really cool an awsome way to bike panniers. I now just need to grab a freaking cat to justify buying cast litter cause no sushi restaurant in my area 😉😜 I guess it's because there is too much cats, and They catch&eat all the fishes, those are not in favor of catch&release 😜😼😼😼 See you Jeff and thanks for sharing 👍🙌👊🤘✌️ Ciao from the Maskoutain Lynx ⚜

6:45. HAHAHA! Yeeeeesssssss! So glad you shot the other one too. =D That. Was freaking awesome. Thank you so much! A question: Do the front panniers impede your feet at all while peddling?
@jspate61
@jspate61 Жыл бұрын
No, in answer to your question. My feet get nowhere close to the front panniers. However, if the rear panniers are not mounted far enough back on the rear rack, my heels can hit them. Cheers from Montreal QC.

Are you still riding a bike? Are you still doing whatever it is you were doing when you made this video What is it that you deliver? What type of businesses do you interact with? I’m curious I live up here in Maine, so I’m just curious I’m looking for something to do.

That's fairly fantastic. Ive seen these around the internet but never thought to use T brackets as the mane attachment point. What are your thoughts on using a little bit of the extra inertube and sliding it over the bracket, padding the attachment point might keep them from scratching your racks or frame if you care about your paint too much. You could also use the bolts on the inside to attach a tyvek mailing envelope or small fabric bag hanging inside and close the the frame just like an ortlib to hold smaller things so they don't get lost in the bottom of the bucket. Keep up the good work .

Excellent ideas! What I find is really missing with my setup is a spring or elastic attachment for the bottom of the bike rack. But this is a really simple fix. It only requires a few nuts and bolts with short length of bungie cord. Cheers from Montreal QC

Hi I was looking to make something for my recumbent trike to carry my stuff while touring your video has helped me a lot thanks. Did you make a rain cover for them for I found that these containers do not keep the water out, I sat them outside before trying your diy and they got water in them so I added a rubber seal on the top and now they work fine. Thanks again for your sharing your video.

I am glad you found this video useful. That's always encouraging to hear. As far as leaks are concerned, I have never had any, but my lids have a really good fit to begin with. I suppose if one ever did leak, I would just chuck it and grab a new one. That's the beauty of free supplies. However, your addition of a rubber seal is an excellent pro tip. Kudos to you! Cheers from Montreal QC Oh, one more thing: mine tend to bounce off the rack if I hit a really big bump, even with the straps. A simple fix for this is to attach a small bungie cord to the bottom that hooks on to your rack.

@@jspate61 Thanks I tied it with an 18-inch gear tie and that worked great. I also rubberized the hooks and put spacers on the rack so they would not scratch the paint. Thanks a lot.

awesome , wrap the small area where it rest on your rack with some electrical tape or something and will not scratch and add some friction to hold in place..

I recognize the name Heath Robinson from one of my books on polar exploration. I`m gonna have to google the name for full context. Seems like he was a make-do kinda guy. Anyhow the panniers were fun and easyy and cheap to make. Bullet proof, water proof, fool proof (and I should know, hahaahhhaa). Cheers
