It looks like a Mezco figure and not in bad way. they go for £100 pounds and that’s 1/12 scale,so 1/6 scale for 175 dollars that’s pretty good.

I get the gripes of some people about the quality of the materials. But although I have a number of HT Spideys (even 2 of the CMS015), I still feel that I should have a black suit since that and the classic suit were the Spiderman look when we were young. I don't like the slimey/gooey look of the HT symbiote one so I will pre-order this. Spiderman's body varies from artist to artist and in the comics, Peter mistook this initially as normal suit so it should look like a fabric. Later, he has been using the non-symbiote version of this suit (iirc, black cat gave it to him). If Hono wants to improve this, I do remember this suit as having a blue sole and being much darker (maybe they can use those blackest black fabrics), but at the same time, bluish hue should be reflected where light hits it.

I’m hoping that Hot Toys will make the classic symbiote suit from the Spider-Man 2 Video Game. They’ve been doing a lot of those game suits and I think they’re waiting until the Black Suit goes out of production to announce it.

The thing about comic book proportions is that a few artists drew him differently during this era. Mike Zeck, who drew the Secret Wars, and Ron Frenz, who drew the og Alien Costume Saga, made Peter less bulky and more like this figure. Todd McFarlane, who drew his first encounter with Venom, which is the last time Spidey wore the black suit regularly, made Peter with more bulk and emphasized his muscles.

Definitely similarities, but this one does look better executed. I have questions with how this one will turn out, but the Mezco looks way worse to me even in promo pictures.

The best way to describe this figure is honestly if you took the mafex symbiote Spider-Man , turned into a mezco figure , and made it 1/6 and no complaints from me 175 is a good price for an iconic Spider-Man suit also Riley do you know what happened to that Thor figure they teased ? He was supposed to be no.3 in the line so it’s confusing why they revealed no.4 first

I understand the skepticism and criticism regarding the suit material, but it look like it works to me here. Likely more durable than some other materials and less likely to degrade perhaps too, which is a plus.

This is a dope drop , gonna be sick to make web fists & all kinds of swinging poses with the bendable webs and great articulation of the suit. Got the Spider-Man 2 game black suit figure on the way I’ll be having both. Need Hono studio to make kraven from the last hunt comic to pair with this

My only Con is the non webbing from the top part of the hand and blue on the bottom of the feet. Other then that I like the look and think it is supposed to lean very heavily into true comic feel. I like the mezco look more but think I could pose this one way more which is amazing for a hot toy.

Riley, to be honest, I was surprised they came out with this version…I like it cause it is a better version of a 3rd party version…..I am in the fence honestly, if I get my HONO Logan in hand and I am over the moon with him, I might double back and consider this Spidey 😂😂😂

The main problem with these comic version of characters is the body’s it looks to realistic when it needs to more muscle more comic bookey they should have gone with a more muscular body also it doesn’t help that the suit is almost entirely black which slims the body and the head looks a bit big to reminds me of mezco but bigger

Reviews of promo pics are nominal at best. Take a look at Spiderman in Secret Wars, not just the cover. The figure is close...at least in the promo pics...which doesn't mean anything.

Reconsidering my preorder now due to you mentioning how the proportions could be better as it kinda does look like Ultimate Spider-Man’s body type in the black suit a little lol. Either way if I do cancel it’s just a $17 loss so for now I’ll get him and see how good he is in hand because I’ve been dying for them to make a comic book symbiote spidey for a while 🫡
