you can get one cheaper from Tesco, but it's a supermarket. £2 for a sandwich from a stall or deli... That's nothing... It's so dumb that people pay for this in London anyways... I see them all the time... You can grab some nice emmenetal or edam cheese slices, some butter, tomato, lettuce, pickle jam or what ever from the supermarket and make it yourself for a lot cheaper... i appreciate all the investigation that went into finding the best and cheapest sandwich in London. You practiced more sleuthing and deduction than Sir Watson and Sherlock Holmes. And that Harrod's sandwich was indeed very expensive, I did buy a Scottish (scotch?) egg from Harrod's one time apprehensively and it was delicious and worth the 5 US dollars it cost. However, as an ignorant American, when I went to London, I absolutely fell in love with the Cheese and Onion sandwich at Waitrose which comes in a meal deal where you get a bag of chips and a soda beverage for like 4 dollars. It was amazing! When you bite into the cheese and onion sandwich it is like a choir of angels burst into song at St. Paul's Cathedral. Honestly, the meal deal at Tesco is the best thing in the world!

I've found you can spend that $28 or whatever at a smaller, cheaper place, get better food and enough of it to eat three-four times sometimes. Really miss a place in Florida called Blue Boy's. Just huge, simple sandwiches, about $8 but that sandwich was like the size of a tv dinner TRAY. And as tall as about four of them! They'd put all the spicy bits on my preferred (cheaper, lol) option for me without charging once they learned I really did like them, and the cooks would come out and chat with us after we became regulars when it was slow. I'd give a whole lot to have just one more of those sandwiches, I really would.

it’s probably because you got a wagyu sandwich takeout, and it’s been sitting out for 20+ mins. from my understanding wagyu is among if not the most prime highest quality cuts of beef. it’s gonna be juicy, melt in your mouth, n no match against even thick bread like that for any longer than a handful of minutes out the kitchen. so to get it takeout, and settling for eating it standing in your kitchen, instead of fresh out of *their kitchen* is probably some disrespect to the dish itself, as well as the restaurant but okay lol. personally i’d be silly not to eat a sandwich like that at the restaurant.

Honestly, when you think about it, you spend that much money anyway if you were somebody who goes out for a quick bite to eat. You might do that once, twice a day or every few days, one’s a week w/e and your total comes out to around $15-$25 ….. so yes, the price of the sandwich does not seem like that big of a deal. In this instance, I would just get the sandwich and maybe a drink but yeah, it’s not that big of a deal if you’re somebody who spends money consciously, you know how much the little things tally up to. And that amount of money for me personally, I would rather spend it on whatever that might be nicer or give me a different type of experience. Everybody chooses to spend that little bit of extra cash they have differently.

Well that's a pretty silly conclusion then isn't it? You've seen two of millions of sandwiches. One of the cheapest, one of the most expensive. You haven't seen all the ones in between, the ones most people are buying or making themselves. If watching a you tube short about two sandwiches is how you form opinion about a whole country's sandwiches, you're a fool 😂 that kind of logic and generalisation is ridiculous. I'm going to guess you're a US American based on your stupidity, although I could be wrong. Definitely US vibes though.

I remember in Vancouver I had a $175 tomahawk steak (£100 in uk money) and it was great. But by far my fave steak was in this rundown kiosk in the corner of the city by this guy and his wife. Cost me $10 (£5) and it was the most delicious steak sandwich I ever had! And I’m telling you, to all those people who are like “oh yeah but that’s just 1 out of 10 there’s no way it’s like that” err wrong again, the best foods I’ve ever had have all been from street food vendors. The best pizza I ever had was originally what my dad made using ingredients from Sicily. BUT then I went to Malta and found this nice little narrow pizza place and it tasted like it had been blessed 🙏😭 the best food isn’t made with money, it’s made with love of one’s craft 😌

I’m sure if you ate the Harrods sandwich fresh when it was actually warmed and served, it would have been an incredible sandwich and worth every penny. If you had not waited until you were home, it wouldn’t be soggy and would have been much more enjoyable. It was clearly toasted and warmed up (you can tell by the char marks on the sandwich when you open up the box) ….. It’s not the sort of sandwich that you wait to eat. You eat it when you’re served it while it’s nice and warm, crispy and toasted. When you have meat such as wagyu, it’s such a fatty and juicy cut of meat, plus the butter, gravity is gonna help that bread soak all of those juices up. The journey home would definitely help that get soggier, plus the condensation of a closed box. Surely you knew that was going to happen if you didn’t eat it straight away? 😂🤣 It’s sacrilegious and quite a waste of what could have been a wonderful sandwich! 🤣

I love a plain cheese sarnie. Gotta be in seaded brown for me tho. When I was pregnant (35+yrs ago😊), I used to go to a Vegetarian Co-op in Waterloo Market (nr. The Cut). Although I'm not a Vegetarian they made these amazing cheese sarnies. I suppose I can assume it may have been a Veggie cheese 🤔 .....anyway.....it was grated onto the best bread I've ever had. Wholemeal cob: dense, dry, nutty-tasting. Sure they baked it on the premises, certainly tasted like an artisan/home bake. They used to place a sprig of curly parsley on top and wrap it in cling film. Sure it was nothing to do with pregnancy cravings, but I ate that 3 out of 5 Lunchtimes. If I could, I'd love to have one of those sarnies again, cos whenever I eat fresh parsley, I'm a back there, in SE1 in 1988 😋 ❤

I would have returned the sandwich to Harrods with a complaint and demanded a refund or a credit. A 28 £ sandwich is very expensive and should be sold as top quality fare. Maybe they are unaware the sandwich is soggy. Or maybe it was sitting too long on the display case. A piece of lettuce on the bottom of the bread would perhaps have prevented it from getting soggy.
@gumicorn280
@gumicorn280 Жыл бұрын
She waited until she got home to eat it…. It was heated for her (there’s char marks on the bread in the box when she opened it, compared to no char marks when it was on display) and then it was in a closed box until she opened it at home. Can’t complain about something when you waited until you got home to eat a sandwich that’s full of juicy steak and butter….. also the condensation from a sweaty unopened box for whatever duration… breads gonna soak the lot up. You can see on the display ones that none of them have soggy squished wet bread on the bottom. That’s no fault of Harrods…
