Nice job! I did something similar but used plastic coated wire shelving for the roost (free since I had recently removed from my pantry!) It's nice because i can just hose it down and it won't rot or rust. Love the billboard sign idea! In the winter you can flip it to the black side! Eggcellent!

I'm building my hoop coop with re-purposed six 8' panels due to not having a way to get 16' panels home from tsc, so made do, just joined end to end and bent as best I could, semi cathedral as opposed to Quonset shape 7'x12', birds won't care how imperfect it is.Covering with hardware cloth,Using billboard vinyl to cover.

We have to many predictors up by me to build the door end with just chicken wire. They'll rip right through that. And need an actual coop in the hoop coop up here for the winter. But that is a nice coop

I love that you thanked God along with everyone else. I’ll be using some of your ideas when I build my hoop coop this spring....if the snow ever stops here in Nebraska. Could you please tell me where you found your “sign tarp”? I’ve been on the hunt all winter and just can’t find any. Thank you so much in advance

I really loved this. Do you have a video of how you made the roost and boxes? What size of the cattle panel did you use? I’ve looked at several videos and none of them say how many 2x4s in total they needed or what size panels they purchased. We live in the DFW area and it gets really windy out here. What would be something to protect the hens from wind or cold weather? Thank you so much :)

The cattle panels I used were 16'x50". Panels come in different widths but a generally always 16' long. Thank you for your question. I am sorry I haven't done a video on the roost. I will build another soon and will video it. Have a blessed day.

Can you let me know how you did for the automatic water? I really like your idea of the roost. What kind of fence wire you used? I also have a hoop chicken coop. I use tarp and UV tent shield to cover the coop. Rain and sun proof, cost $5 each. Thank you for sharing and great coop!
@faithfamilyfarmfood
@faithfamilyfarmfood 2 жыл бұрын
kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mt6fiNx1v8rGn6M.html this is a link to the uni-seal video that goes with the waterer. For the water I did it two different ways. First is just a horse waterer for stalls. The other is a waterer float valve for a trough installed onto a fence feeder for goats or pigs. I really like the idea of the uv tent cover thanks for sharing it. As far as fencing wire im getting away from chicken wire and leaning more towards 1/2x1/2 galvanized hardware cloth or even 1/2x1 cage wire. More expensive but also more predator resistant.

Nicest coop door I've seen. I noticed you chose to build the frame (behind the door) asymmetric, different heights on the left and right. If you were going to build it again would you do it the same? Or would you try to force the cattle panel into a symmetric arch? Would you do anything else different? Is the door made from 2x3?
@faithfamilyfarmfood

The design wasn’t intentional that is just how it worked out. I wouldn’t change anything because it’s been very functional and is still in use. Yes, it it made with 2 by 3. Thank you for watching and commenting.

I used 4 but you can easily add or take away to make the size you need. It has held up better than expected. We had a strong wind storm that blew over our Rabbit hutches and it only took the roof covering off which was easy to put back. We did reinforce the roof covering with straps.

Did you attach the roosting boards to coop , if so how does it come up and down when you clean
@faithfamilyfarmfood
@faithfamilyfarmfood 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching and visiting our channel. The roost is attached to the cattle panel on one side using plumbers tape looped around wire to form a hinge. The other side is supported by paracord suspended from the top. The thought is that when cleaning the coop or spreading sand or hay I can raise the roost and tie it off in the raised position until i am finished. I hop this helps.

How do you clean it? About to get my hoop coop off of Craigslist
@faithfamilyfarmfood
@faithfamilyfarmfood 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your reply and viewing our channel. When we clean we raise the roost and tie it to the cattle panel until we are done. If you put down a bedding of hay like we do, invest in a hay fork (pitch Fork). I will often park my tractor bucket just outside the door. basically we just scoop out the old bedding and put down new. If your able, i suggest moving the coop periodically. I hope this helps.
