Plot twist: the crying came from the chicken wing.

Take it from a Buffalo native, the part you're using is called the "flat." Once you take the cap off, you can just hold the tips of the two bones, put the flat in your mouth and pull the bones.

There’s an easier way to do this. The cap part you took off (called the gristle), you twist that bone out. You then put the wing in your mouth, holding onto the other bone, and it’ll slide right off.

It's a lot easier to just grab the flats with your mouth and then pull the two bones out. Takes literally seconds to do and way less complicated. Same can be done with the drumettes by putting it in your mouth, giving it a little twist and then pulling out the bone.
