It's finally time! I've been putting this off for awhile because I wanted to make sure I did this right and gave our boi justice.
Due to Chipp's low health and speed it's really easy to build up a autopilot play style to get by. This mainly because opponents can easily get overwhelmed by Chipp's sheer speed and mix-up potential and at the same time it feels like trying something new mid match could just get you deleted.
Playing this way creates a clear skill ceiling for yourself as anyone who can deal with your habits will just stomp you. Chipp is a mix-up character however his kit shines when it's used to cut off his opponents escape routes and defensive options not just done randomly. Being a character that dies quick it's essential to end the fight as soon as possible As the longer the fight goes on one mistake will result in you losing. This does not mean doing more but being intentional about what you are choosing to do because you can’t afford to autopilot something wrong and die.
This guide is going fast track you to bring a better Chipp player by letting you in on the secrets on what to look for in your opponent and what decisions you can make to not let that opportunity slip.
Intro 00:00 - 03:32
Movement & Neutral 03:33 - 10:10
Offense Theory 10:11 - 18:48
Corner Game 18:49 -
Sajam's Will it Kill: • Blame the Beasts (Amaz...
Combos are cool but you can copy, learn, and practice those and they will get better overtime. However, knowing what to look for and how to adapt to land those combos in the first place takes intention.

One of the lessons I've learnt playing against more experienced players is that Chipp is really scary when he's patient. I've resorted to patiently waiting out of range to tag opponents, then catch their mistakes and go into oki setups, or change my pace all of a sudden and rush in, but with calculation. I've found that a calculated Chipp beats a random Chipp every single time. That's because if a Chipp player's not being careful, he won't realize that all of his options have answers and if the opponent is prepared, he's in for a beat down. Playing Chipp is great though as he disciplines you into making as little mistakes as possible, something that can carry on not only into other characters but also other games.
@StrawHatCentral
@StrawHatCentral 2 жыл бұрын
This guy gets it! I think Chipp has definitely made me a better fighting game player overall. The biggest thing I learned is that something having a clear answer to beat it doesn’t make it bad. It’s up to the player to use it properly and still make it a threat.

I love Chipp. His design, gameplay and theme of being a ninja is incredeble. But I was so afraid that I would suck because I am bad at the game and will die if my opponent punishes me. I was right. But that was the thing. Because I blew up from one simple, I was sorta forced to get better at mix ups, predicting, adapting, reading opponent, and even defense. And now the only thing I regret is that I didn't play Chipp sooner, because I would have learned the game in general sooner

Chipp seems like such a fun character at high levels of play, but I'm exactly the sort of player you described in the first minutes - Completely hit a wall and struggling to even understand what I'm doing wrong and what to focus on in order to improve. This video was a complete gamechanger and it helped SOOO much. It's very rare to see well thought-out guides that actually goes in-depth explaining gameplan and mindset as opposed to just listing a bunch of combos and tech. I finally feel like I have a good grasp on what to focus on in order to break through that wall now. Thanks a lot for this! Keep the Chipp-content coming! :D

Thanks for the Chipp guide, i knew what i was signing up for maining him, but he's alot of fun. I still havent learned any combos with him yet since i've been commited to learning the systems and improving the fundamentals and i have been actually trying to adapt to my opponents and see what moves they respond to constantly or not to help win my matches... but holy shit it's like your videos opened up my third eye... why the fuck did i never think to use his jumps to bait like that. Yea if you mistime the close slash meaty people spamming grab will get you. But gg players wake up spamming grab all day so if you get the timing down you’ll have a way easier time. If you set the computer to grab on wake up in training room you can practice the timing or just look for the get up animation then press close slash. Once you got it you won’t forget it 👍🏾

What am I doing wrong? on the 5k into dash, into throw, whenever I dash manually or dash using my assigned button, there’s a fire trail and it’s not replicating what I see in the video.
@StrawHatCentral
@StrawHatCentral Жыл бұрын
So you have to wait for the attack to fully recover before you input the dash. If you input the dash too early you will get the fire trail because it's a dash cancel. They added dash cancels to make this easier but its slower and more obvious than manually timing it. A good way to practice dashing between moves is to use 2k instead of 5k since it can't be dash cancelled. 2k pause dash 2k pause dash if you do it too early you won't get the dash at all. Once you get that you'll see how to do that off any button.
