As a warriors fan yes its much slower this year but I love the team. CP3 running with the bench makes me excited because he's gonna find the young guys and get the most out of them and we obviously have Steph and the normal 5 during the other minutes. We look great to me, even the young guys look promising and I'm mad excited for the season.

The best thing about Chris Paul in this system is, he gets to guide the young guys like Kuminga and Moody who have both looked amazing on both sides of the ball. CP has been a great addition. I can definitely notice the amount of enjoyment Steph has on the bench watching the team score efficiently without him being on the floor. In order for playoff success, Kuminga and Moody will need to step up. Lack of size is what leads me astray from warrior title contention hopes, but they've done it before so I won't put it past them.

During the 2015-2018 stretch, the Warriors bench with Jarrett Jack, Mo Speights, Livingston, etc. was great at slowing down the game and playing good D. Eventually they lost that depth and had to rely on KD, Steph, Klay, Draymond more but this different style between starters and bench was key to the early rings

I am excited to keep watching this thing play out. We finally have a rotation that makes sense when steph isnt on the floor. I feel like we havent had that since livingston left the team tbh. And I hope CP has some fun this season. This team can bring the joy if you let them. It's been fun to watch so far. Oh...and we gotta start hearing the name MOSES MOODY more often. Everyone talks about the potential of Kuminga and rightfully so because of his athletic profile but this kid Moody has a MASSIVE brain. Making the right plays every time hes on the floor ever since he was 19. His jumper is smooth, he moves his feet on defense, makes the smart pass. Be ready for that kid to force his name into the conversation pretty soon.

The best thing that the Steve Kerr did that is helping CP3 is having him not change his game. He's going to develop players like Kuminga and Moody to become more involved in the offense. This might be lowkey be the best offseason acquisition if the Warriors keep this up and CP3 does not get injured.

@dp4gen

What I've noticed in this small sample size of 3 games is: CP3 allows the offense to breathe. In the past, because there was such an emphasis on pace and getting after the defense, it's like the offense was in a full sprint at all times, which led to those series of turnovers when the offense started to run out of gas. It's like they were stuck on a treadmill with no off switch or ability to turn the speed down. CP3 gets the ball now and it's like everyone takes a chill pill. I don't mean that they're taking the play off, but his command and composure, which come from his IQ and passing ability, seem to settle everything down and result in at least a shot attempt on a possession that, last year or in prior years, might have been an errant pass or offensive foul because the pace was out of control.
@nowl775
@nowl775 9 ай бұрын
It's a slower pace, but it's needed after they led the league in TOs last season. While TOs have been a team wide problem, JP was often one of the biggest culprits in regards to TOs last season. It's what led them to having Draymond play a lot with the 2nd unit last season bc Poole couldn't get them set up or take care of the ball. It's also no coincidence then that the team has struggling to find a capable vet backup for Curry since Livingston retired. Iguodala helped with this when he returned to the Dubs, but his body couldn't hold up. Bringing in someone like CP3 was very needed even if it's more of a financially motivated, short term move, considering his contract is essentially a one year contract versus Poole's upcoming 4 year extension. It's early, but so far it's been a home run.

You know the pace conversation is an interesting one. Tonight against the Pelicans, you could see confusion with from the Pels because the pace changes when Steph is out there vs when CP is out there. You can actually see Steph come out running after a board, and CP slowly setting up. Meaning the defense has to play two different ways and there were a lot of easy transition buckets with Steph, and guys who rushed back who were then out of defensive coverage with CP3 in.
@imnorevives

i think Chris did exactly what he needed to do, last year the team without Curry was bad (I think this had a lot to do with not having a floor general, so they could not hold the fast pace of the offense). This year curry can still operate efficiently offball and have a trustworthy guard to run the offense, and when he is not on the court CP3 can come and keep the young second squad in check.

I've watched all the games, and I feel like it's going really well. Game against the Pels no Kuminga no Klay, and the second unit with Chris Paul did great, it's mind blowing how CP3 elevates his teammates whether they are the second or the third unit. Really excited for this season, and it feels like he's relieving the pressure from Curry having to playmake, allowing him to go for 30-40 every night which helps for the moment as Klay is still struggling from the field for the moment. And btw, Saric is severely underrated.

As a warriors fan yes it's unusual but for the better, instead of living and dying by the three or playing catch up they have CP3 "the adult" controlling the pace and getting the second unit to better high % shots. Before previous second units would have to use the same design for Steph in the second unit, mixing Klay in the second unit earlier to make those shots. Now with CP3 he just makes everyone better and they now take a lot of midrange shots instead of threes. This drove me crazy because not everyone can shoot in the perimeter like Steph even though they seemed to be good at it. CP3 brings a whole new level to their warriors game with his passing, leadership and mid range shooting ability. This season that second unit is the true monster on this team because not only can they score but you have a lot of unsung defensive players on that unit like GP2. I think I saw a stat that the warriors lead the league in opponents shooting % at around 50%. The warriors may have been exciting to watch offensively but it's their defense that made them great.

Kenny as a Warriors fan, I like the variation of pace (or the possibility of it). I have seen moments where the Warriors ran themselves out of the game as quickly as they dominate it. They needed some control. What I am still upset about though is that Kerr and the management are absolutely allergic to getting a big. Someone like Zion or Domas can be contained by Dray but this year, the Thunder, Wolves and the Spurs are in the in-season group and they all have towering, dominating big men. Dray won't be able to do anything against them.

I feel like the slower pace actually BENEFITS us, it slows everything down and when our core is getting older they don’t need to be playing that high octane offense where you’re constantly moving, slowing it down a bit has allowed us to get more shots in the paint and hey more shots in the paint draws more fouls and overall we’re getting better looks which benefits our defense, because last year we just kept shooting these bad shots early in the shot clock and our defense was constantly on their heels and having to get back in transition, now that’s not the case. Defense is what defines you as a team and your offense complements it.

I actually really like the change of pace. It adds some flavor that GSW never really had. CP3 out? the warriors run and gun, CP3 in? they slow it down. Will be hard to constantly switch for defenses back and forth to guard and gives the coaches some more freedom and variation with lineups and play calling. Another observation during every championship run i think one thing that the warriors have always had is 1 or 2 walking iso buckets (I'd say most championship teams in general have to have at least 2). Barnes and Klay (even Livingston), KD, Klay. and in 2022 Steph and Wiggs were the iso players they could throw the ball to and get a decent look. I think this year Wiggs has to step up and be that again offensively (which last season and into this season he hasn't been consistent), or Kuminga has to assume a bigger role and be reliable since i don't think simply having Curry as the iso 'guy' is enough. 2023 - Jokic/Murray 2022 - Curry/Wiggs 2021 - Middleton/Giannis 2020 - AD/Lebron 2019 - Kawhi/Siakam (Vanfleet/Lowry as a kind of?)

warriors fan here. a welcome sight to not be one of the worst teams in terms of turnovers for once. we have the same starting lineup as last year so we can go back to that same run-and-gun approach whenever appropriate, but it's nice to have that option of slowing things down and playing more methodically. i trust this team will be able to switch the pace on or off as necessary. at the end of the day, though, cp's effectiveness overall will come down to his ability to hit open threes off a swing or whatnot, he'll be getting a lot of those this year

I think the differnce in his game compared to currys really helps them both. He comes off the bench and the offense is completely different. Hard for defenses to adjust to that then go back to curry

If they bench continues to play this way its just a matter of time before they give them a name, they have defense, the have offense, they have athleticism, they have the stretch 5 and they have veteran leadership in the floor general or Point God in CP3
