Nice touch Mick playing the theme from The Prisoner as the lead break at the end... And the fact that he mentions that it's number six in the set list... :-)

I still have the original 7 inch single. The Prisoner was the B side of Whiteman in Hammersmith Palais. The label had a gun and the barrel was the hole in the centre of the record. Mine has a crack in it but it still plays or it would if I had a record player.

There is an excellent recording of the complete show. Was available on the internet some years ago in .flac format. The taper did an amazing job for 1977. Incredible.

The intro of this doesn't sound like anyone in the Clash! Jones was definitely underplayed in the Clash regarding his guitar solos; if only... His guitar at the end really makes this track!

So damn great. I've always loved hearing Mick end the song with those guitar riffs. I wonder why he chose to bury them in the official studio release of the song.

Probably because it's the theme to the TV series The Prisoner and they would've needed to pay Ron Grainer (The Prisoner theme composer) for its use...

I know right? First time I heard this was a live version decades ago. I thought the key change and the melody at the end was an amazing twist. Then I finally got hold of the studio version and thought "what the hell is this crap??"

@@SteveSputnik In 1977? I don't think so. Even actually sampling recordings was still fair game in those days....

@@devilsforkdigital1490. Don't be too sure. The ending of the song pretty much comprises of the Prisoner theme. Check out the Rezillos' song 'Thunderbirds are Go' from 'Mission Accomplished... But The Beat Goes On!' Thunderbirds theme composer Barry Gray has a separate credit on the song and there is a copyright acknowledgement, too.
