The Classics were a Dutch pop band that also achieved some international success in the 1970s. Founded in 1967, they became known beyond the borders of the Netherlands in 1972 with "My Lady of Spain". The group's regular members were Ber Kwaspen (drums), Harry Broens (vocals, guitar, flute), Jo Hoofwijk (bass) and Rolph Broens (vocals). Despite the almost identical sound, the band does not belong to the Palingsound-Bands. This name was reserved for music groups from Volendam. For bands from Limburg, like The Classics, the term "Vlaaiensound" was used.
Spotlight was a music show for the youth, which was aired between 1968 and 1978 by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF). It was the counterpart to the shows "Beat Club" or "Musikladen" in Germany.
