Peril and Deathbringer had relatively similar upbringings, in that they were raised in essential isolation and made to kill. However, their treatments by both the Dragonets of Destiny and society differ VASTLY. Is it okay for Peril to be be an outcast, but Deathbringer to be off the hook?

I'm think the other dragonets are more opposed to peril because of her connection to queen scarlet, they associate her with a very bad memory in their past and struggle to let that go. Scartlet kidnapped them and tried to make them fight to the death, and even after being dethroned still kept trying to get her revenge until her inevitable death. This doesn't excuse how the dragonets react to peril, im just throwing out the idea that maybe peril is like trigger for them that brings back those memories, basically a trauma response, but hopefully they'll learn to trust her more and be able to move past that
@blank8278
@blank8278 2 ай бұрын
That sounds very accurate. My theory is the fire scales make her seem more like a monster than Deathbringer and a lot of dragons do seem discriminatory against those with dangerous conditions or just differences with how Albertross was treated because of his scale pigmentation.
@katrina8231
@katrina8231 2 ай бұрын
@@blank8278 that's a good point too, what would call that, is that still racism if it's from your own kind? The tribes have been kept separated and there's obvious racism there but what is it called when it's from your own tribe? Is that still racism or is there another term for something like what albatross and peril went through with their own tribes discriminating against them because of their scales
@blank8278
@blank8278 2 ай бұрын
@katrina8231 Just plain old discrimination is a good enough term. But think about it Chameleon got banished for being different from the friendliest and most peaceful tribe we know of. Moon was mistreated for having unusual abilities by even her friends at first blaming her for not stopping the fire I think, at least I remember how that went down. Before being revealed to be an animus Albertross was mistreated for such a minor difference. It seems dragons are naturally apposed to those with differences. Of course it depends on the character of the dragon.
@ClowningAroundForFun

I also think that she reminds (at least some of them) of Kestrel. I mean, she's literally her daughter, so, it would be logical to assume that someone reminding you of 2 VERY traumatic and negitively influential figures in your childhood would leave you on edge. Not defending the DoD for how they act towards her (mainly Tsunami, Glory, and Starflight), just adding to your point.

My theory is that fire scales make it easier to dehumanise or dedragonise Peril, and it seems a lot of dragons of discriminatory against those with dangerous conditions or just biological differences such as poor Albertross being mistreated for his scale pigmentation and Chameleon for his difference. Someone said in the comments about the DOD having a trauma response towards Peril for her association with Scarlet who traumatised them. Still though an alarming amount of dragons with conditions are treated poorly. At least Six claws seems to be free from this at least with Burn dead.

@HappyAcorn-pn7yd Not really with Albertross being mistreated by his siblings before the animus thing, and Sunny wasn't perceived as dangerous but was said to be defective and weird looking. Chameleon didn't have a condition dangerous to others, and he was eventually banished.
@1confusedkitty745
@1confusedkitty745 2 ай бұрын
It might also be that Peril is dangerous in a very tangible way. You can’t see or feel animus magic or the amount of dragons someone has killed by being near them, but you can see and feel the deadly heat coming from Peril constantly. You can kinda see something similar in people with invisible disabilities, because since it isn’t visible it doesn’t seem as important, but a physical one that everyone can see is viewed differently.
@blank8278
@blank8278 2 ай бұрын
@1confusedkitty745 Exactly. Peril's condition is front and centre. Dragons make it define her life. The skywings should have kept an animus alive and have controllable firescales present in every skywing. They would never have to worry about fire or getting chilly ever again.

Sunny also has hypocrisy that bothers me in regards to how she sees her parents. She justifies to herself why Thorn killking Preyhunter (a dragon she felt bad for a few chapters earlier and only defended himself after Thorn snapped at learning Morrowseer is dead, which she didn't believe) is okay, yet is quick to think poorly of Stonemover, a dragon who's in deep depression and is living through the magic equivalent of paralysis. Sunny's all over the place for me in regarding who's fine being a killer and who isn't. Even her positive view of Smolder, her kidnapper, is so weird. (I'll admit I've never fully agreed with the fandom singing their praises to Thorn as an amazing mom when she shows an immature anger outburst in front of her daughter, which was quickly adopted by Sunny a bit later in the book).
@Dogloverlikesdoge
@Dogloverlikesdoge 2 ай бұрын
Preyhunter did NOTTT deserve to die. I'm glad someone else acknowledged how quickly that was forgiven. He did kidnap Sunny and threaten to kill her, but she was given safely into Thorn's arms. We can even hear him muttering in his sleep about the things his mom would make him do. Just like the other NightWings, he was conditioned into doing things he didn't want to. It just became the reality he made himself have to live with

Few things I have to say. Peril is most likely only seen as a hazard because she can still be dangerous even by accident. Another thing is that deathbringer allowed six claws to live because he believed he was good. There’s a possibility he did this to other victims too. Also most of the dragonets opinions on peril and deathbringer vary. Tsunami still dislikes and distrusts both, sunny and clay try to look at the best and them, and starflight doesn’t really care (I don’t remember much interactions between him and them)

Okay. Deathbringer is one of my favourite characters due to his sarcasm and protective personality, but you made a great point in this video. Like, the fact that deathbringer literally tried to assasinate them while peril was basically under scarlets control ( and , scarlet was the only parent figure she basically had ) so I think it’s understandable that she betrayed them. It wasn’t a good thing to do, but I feel that she was trying to do the best thing for herself, as if scarlet caught them they may have all died instead. And the way they continuously reject peril as if she hasn’t changed at all like she has had a LOT of development yet they still treat her as a monster sometimes. Also, when Deathbringer failed to assasinate them, he tried to kill the princess!? Like he obviously wanted to sabotage them in some way, while peril was just protecting herself. Anyways, great vid tho keep up the amazing work :D !!

I love this video cause the double standards for the Dod are a bit annoying. Though it’s probably from the trauma they had from scarlet and known that peril had a relationship with Scarlet, Tsunami would probably have the hardest time getting to accept Peril as Scarlet got her to kill her own father and her memories from the past probably gained a relationship between Peril and Scarlet so therefore in her eyes peril is kind of the same? Though I’m glad clay had accepted her. It’s wrong how they accepted deathbringer and not peril despite knowing Peril for much longer and peril had saved them in the skywing kingdom multiple times.

This reminds me of how Po was treated in the first Kung Fu Panda movie by the furious five, especially Tigress. If you watch the short film depicting how the furious five came together, almost all of them came from non-kung fu bakgrounds, and probably even knew less about it than Po did. Yet while Shifu and Tigress accepts the four after proving themseves once, Po tries to prove himself again and again, but keeps getting rejected. Even TIgress, the person who stood up for her new friends, who had been worse off than Po in terms of Kung Fu, still treats him like garbage at first. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT!? At least by the end of the first movie Shifu and the Five respect and accept Po, and I hope this same approach is given in the Wings of Fire show. I hope the dragonets accept Peril after she saves Clays life, because if they don't and continue to treat her like trash like they do in the books, then there no better off than the people who raised Peril.
@victory8928
@victory8928 2 ай бұрын
I do think that the prequel might be a retcon or that their behaviour has to do with Po being given the title. They all had to prove themselves to become the furious five. Shifu berated them all mainly the 4 and only accepted them when they beat the boar. So having Po just fall from the sky and earn it felt so unfair to them so that is why they picked on Po didn’t help that Shifu enabled these feelings and behaviours when he should have curd these types of things so that they can work together with Po.

As for all smoke, there is fire, there may be grounds for the Dragonets of Destiny's skewed view regarding Peril and Deathbringer Although Peril and Deathbringer both indeed tried to kill them almost right from the get-go, I believe it's what happened afterward for each of them that led to this hypocrisy. With Deathbringer, he had already shown some degree of disloyalty to the NightWings, betraying them not long after when he rescued Glory and Kinkajou from the volcanic prisons. However, Peril continued to seek out Scarlet even after saving Clay's life, hanging on to a thread none of the five friends felt comfortable about. I understand an abusive relationship was much at play here, but in the eyes of the DoD, anything connected to Scarlet was something to be wary of. That's why Peril was able to make friends with Turtle so easily, he had no past experiences to skew his perspective on her. Also, they're kind of alike, having powers they both had despise for P.S. Thinking about why things happen is always interesting, it helps remove stereotypes and skewed judgments, allowing for better understanding of others

Deathrbringer simply isnt that wa with clay, so of course he would be more comfortable walking around with Deathbringer, someone who would risk his life for Clays friend, than with someone that obsessed with him. The following things that I say is probably not true, I just think it might be. A reason might be personality. Honestly, when you compare Peril and Deathbringer, their backstories are quite similar (as you’ve said in the video). But one is accepted and one is rejected? Deathbringer has quite charming and is flirty toward Glory. Meanwhile Peril is rash, stubborn and very prone to rage (totally did not copy that from the wiki). Not to make Peril seem worse, but you can kind of see how one could get more acceptance than the other. Also first impressions wise, yes Deathbringer was sent to kill the dragonets of destiny but he didn’t end up doing anything (to the dragonets, at least). Meanwhile, Peril’s first impressions? Having the dragon she was fighting, Horizon, burst into flames and brutally die? Let’s just say that doesn’t set a good first impression.

The way Peril is treated vs Deathbringer is clear evidence of how you are more likly to forgive a fullfilled love interest than a victem in media. His charisma and Glory liking him made him be firgiven. Clay only being freinds with Peril and her not being charismatic doomed her.

What rubbed me wrong even Book 8 minus dragonets fearing, I feel Clay himself was too "hands off" with how Peril should think for herself. He could guide her to a few activities when it's quiet while figuring out how circumvent firescales when touch burns anything. Peril already has lethal reputation, she can't have explored so easily on her own assuming she heard nothing of Scarlet to venture out. Turtle just accepting and calm was definitely great on his part which made me love his placid nature more.

Starting with Deathbringer: He was raised and trained to be an assassin by his mother (who wasn't a psychopath; she was raised in the exact same way to serve her tribe and carry out their duties). Deathbringer was already trying to change the way things were going after Quickstrike was murdered. He knew that he had the freedom to make his own choices after realizing the twisted logic of Morrowseer and the NightWings. Also, we don't know how many dragons he's actually killed---we already know for a fact that he spared Six-Claws's life after looking at the bigger picture of the situation. When he was sent to kill Glory and Tsunami, he decided not to, betraying his entire tribe so he might find something better. His personality reflects loyalty and devotion to someone he loves, and he was willing to risk anything for Glory, no matter the cost. The dod are comfortable with him because he's agreeable and friendly to them, and because he wasn't raised to kill mindlessly; assassins are given strict and often covert orders to execute a select amount or just one person, based on the reasons. While assassins are often categorized or put in the same boat as soulless killers, Deathbringer took control of his own life and decided what was right and what was wrong. That's where the difference is. Deathbringer was raised to be comfortable with killing, but did that mean he always thought it was the best option? Obviously not, because he's found ways around it. And Peril didn't have much of a choice, which is true, because she was raised by the horrible Scarlet herself---but she liked killing. Deathbringer accepted that he could do it, but he knew he didn't always have to if he could find ways to get around his orders. He gave his career up completely when he found Glory, and switched jobs to protect her, which is what he vowed to do after Quickstrike's death. Now on to Peril: It definitely isn't fair that she was raised by Scarlet, and it's true that she liked killing solely because she was told by a mother figure that she was made for it, and that part isn't her fault---she also didn't know better. She is treated differently by the dod firstly because she is linked with both Scarlet and Kestrel, two dragons who gave them trauma. That already causes a bit of uneasiness because this firescales SkyWing who had openly burned dragons alive is connected to a psychotic queen and an abusive mother figure. That leaves a bit of a bad taste in the mouth. While it's clear that Peril grew up on this, and it's all she's ever known, she was given enough insight through the years to determine whether killing for entertainment vs a reason is wrong or right. For instance, Osprey obviously didn't approve of Scarlet's ways. He taught Peril to read and write and surely Peril knew, based on the entire kingdom's reaction to her, that Scarlet was forcing the wrong thing. And yes, I completely understand that Peril would be afraid to break away from the only thing that had accepted her, and of course the dod could try to understand her situation a little more. They are just a bit baffled by her powers and by her stubborn personality, claiming that she's a little headstrong and obsessive of Clay, which can also make the relationship a little awkward. And also---it's understandable that they're wary around Peril because of her firescales. It's not discrimination because of something she can't help, it's because they've seen what her powers have done to other dragons---and that's a bit frightening. And it's clear that Peril is trying so hard to break away from her past, but she's still got a lot of growing to do, while Deathbringer has already gone through his character development. And for those who say Deathbringer's shown no remorse for his actions---how do we know that, exactly? Of course Tui wouldn't go out of her way to write an entire segment of Deathbringer reflecting on his past mid-arc. But what we do know is that he would've felt bad if he had to kill Six-Claws, which is precisely why he avoided killing him---because he knew there was an alternative. He also felt bad for Gill when he killed Tempest, and though he shoved it away, we don't know how he handled it later. Peril only feels bad because she knew Clay didn't like what she'd done, which can be viewed as people-pleasing, in a way. Deathbringer knew, without ANY input from anyone, that anyone can make the decision whether or not to do the right thing. Peril feels she has an obligation to do the right thing because she's making someone else happy, even if she doesn't understand, which isn't a bad thing---she just needs to learn why doing good is good. So the only real similarity I can see between these characters is their devotion and love for two of the dod, but their stories are entirely different, as well as some of their values. And let's all remember that Deathbringer isn't COMPLETELY 100% accepted by the dod. Sunny and Clay show no hate toward him, Starflight only seems to be neutral, and Tsunami doesn't like nor trust him. This is a bit similar to Peril's situation, which makes sense, only I'd say that Starflight would be more afraid of Peril. So to classify Deathbringer as a BFF to the dod is a little bit of an exaggeration. Of course, he'll get there, but for now he's mainly just the closest to Glory, and I'd say he's good friends with Sunny and Clay. But even Sunny doesn't seem to understand why Glory trusts Deathbringer so much, so making him seem all-around loved by everyone to emphasize your point about Peril getting treated like trash seems a bit biased. So basically, Peril has some growing to do. And of course the dod could make more of an effort to understand her situation and maybe talk to her about it, just to clear things up and help her become a better dragon. She's obviously more corrupted than Deathbringer which puts her in a more vulnerable position. But she isn't actually treated as bad as you're saying. Sure, Tsunami throws some hate on her and JMA is wary of her, but that's basically summing up the entirety of human society. Not everyone is going to be accepted at first, especially if they've been demonized to an irrational level---however, Peril did burn dragons alive in Scarlet's arena. So Peril and Deathbringer actually didn't have similar upbringings, and they are not alike. They've both killed, sure. But saying that there's a double standard and hypocrisy going on kind of highlights the fact that maybe you're overthinking the dynamics. Tui didn't write this thinking that the dod were going to favor Deathbringer over Peril, and that's what we have to remember, as well as all the logic I just wrote about. To wrap it up (I'm sorry for the rant) Deathbringer and Peril are not similar characters, and there is no double standard. I love Deathbringer for his values, humor and loyalty, and I love Peril for her boldness and sudden hilarious outbursts. They're both amazing characters, one with a little more growing to do than the other---but I think Tui did an outstanding job creating them. And I don't mean to throw hate at your video, honestly---I love all the content you cover and your constant updates on everyone's favorite book series. I just had a different view on this video, and thought I'd share. Have a great day!

that's the odd thing. no one in universe every puts it into thought. Deathbringer while yes was forced to be an assassin, still let some dragons live. he still killed a lot of dragons however, everyone conveniently forgets he was sent to kill Blaze (and if i remember correctly, sent to kill Glory). Peril had no way out of an abusive servitude, she tried to refuse to fight and not eat coals (assuming that's what the "black rocks" were) and was forced to kill for all her life until it became a game for her to see how long someone will last before they are nothing but agony and ash. Deathbringer had an actual mother who trained him to kill others, every life he took was taken willingly. Peril had a queen who raised her to be judge, jury and executioner in an arena. she had no idea how to act around dragons close to her age, she had a mentor figure and an abusive queen and that's it.

DUDEE. I agree with you completely. As much as I like Deathbringers personality, (him litterally being deadpool-) He was forgiven like- WAY too fast, now peril is one of my favorite dragons and i can really understand how crappy she's been treated! what makes it worse is that she literally saved pyrrhia by helping ruby kill scarlet. I wish that it took more than like- one book for glory to fall for deathbringer, because it really felt forced. i hope that in future books, more dragons start to treat peril more fairly.

Peril was a tool/symbol of terror who made Scarlet's rule possible, from the POV of an average dragon Peril is nothing more than Scarlet's monster, hardly a person. Scarlet's rule wasn't stable because the arena kept dragons "entertained", it was more of a mandatory watch to show all who rise against her shall die from Peril's flames and invoke PTSD from the time she incinerated those eggs. She turned out to be a disturbed individual whose way to healing could only truly start in her own book, it must have been a hard ballancing act on Tui's end to make her the way she is and not fall into the other extreme where Deathbringer kind of ended up. To be the devil's advocate, Deathbringer had a much more sane upbringing and was raised for a kill or be killed environment, unlike Peril all he had was his skill, he is talented, but still just an average nightwing. I like to think if he denied his orders or try to escape he'd be dead, part headcanon but honestly its not a stretch. I believe the killing during the war was forgiven cause even dragonets would be severely punished who did it cause they were ordered to kill. Deathbringer falls right into this category. And he is basically under house arrest, Glory might has a invisible "sleep dart my husband if he tries to kill" squad following him everyhwere. Deep down he is just your average dragon who fights in a war in his own way and is good at it, those who aren't are dead. Also murder wasn't a huge deal in arc one, but in arc two it became a crime. Coral isn't dethroned for viciously tearing apart an overworked guard, Tsunami's attempted murder is forgiven, Glory's magical death spit is considered cool, there surely are many more examples. Peril is 99% frowned upon for her complicated relationship with Scarlet and for reminding everyone of her rule of terror. I hope she will get the love she deserves and it will be written in a compelling way. She is a character who should return in arc 4

To be fair Peril’s whole deal is that she’s dangerous without really meaning to be dangerous due to her fire scales. Deathbringer can change by renouncing his life as an assassin and not murdering anyone, while Peril can’t really change that she’s a fire scale dragon unless someone uses animus magic to enchant her. That means even if she means well (and she does) it’s natural for other dragons to be wary of her because she can hurt them without even really meaning to. She also spent her time being Queen Scarlet’s very visible weapon, while Deathbringer’s role as an assassin meant his deadliness was kept somewhat under the radar. I guess she reminds me of Rogue from X-Men in that both are deadly to those they touch, but Rogue has the option of wearing gloves so she can avoid directly touching anyone while Peril can’t.

When I was reading Arc 2, I was so confused why they were still treating Peril like a villain just waiting to betray them. She literally saved Clay's life in front of everyone with the same scales that killed THOUSANDS of other dragons. She chose to use the fire scales for good, wasn't that enough proof she wants to change? And even Clay still felt uncomfortable around her even after that...She deserves better.

To play devils advocate, when they first meet Peril, they're still freshly exposed to the outside world and their biases were waaaay stronger. That bias can be hard to change even months or years after a first impression. That's not to say that it's not messed up and totally unfair, but the DoD are also still children that had a violent introduction to the outside world and basically no positive associations with Skywings from the get go, while Nightwings were praised. Even if they consciously don't buy into that bs, that kinda bias can be heavily ingrained to the subconscious and can take a looong time to unlearn. Peril is one of my fav characters and she absolutely gets so much crap for things beyond her control and I feel for her.

Hear me out, i do think that there is some justification for both. First of all, by the end of book 10, while reluctantly, she was accepted by jade mountain, and accepted into the sky kingdom. Both were reluctant, but mostly because of her reputation that was not largely changed, and her firescales. Overall, she wasn't shunned because of her actions, (okay maybe a little) but because of her danger. She cant control her firescales, but they can kill regaurdless. This does NOT excuse jade mountains or ruby's actions, but it does slightly justify them. As for deathbeinger, he had more on-page development, and was more often seen by the dragonets. They accepted him because they were around him, and trusted him more because of it... Although, still definitely not fair for peril to be shunned so hard, and deathbringer so little.

At first I didn’t mind Peril when she was first introduced in book 1. I thought she was maybe a character I could like, but as I got farther in, and especially during the fight with Clay and when Tsunami and Starflight say they have to rescue Glory, Peril displays behavior that I don’t care for. “But I’M your friend! It’s not fair!” That’s the kind of behavior I would expect from Kinkajou or Peacemaker, not an 8-year-old dragon. Afterwards, I found Peril really annoying, and I thought book 8 would change my perspective on her, but it didn’t. It felt like she had no character development, and a lot of her thoughts about Clay made me feel like I was reading the same sentence over and over again, while waiting for her to move on to a different topic. Overall, I think she’s overrated by the fandom, as well as too clingy, obsessive, and needy, and that’s not the type of character I enjoy. Now, I understand she didn’t have a good upbringing, but that doesn’t make me have sympathy for her. It’s a backstory I see a lot when reading books and watching movies, that at this point just isn’t interesting or surprising anymore. Peril is very much my least favorite character in the series, I do not like her.

Few things come to mind. First and foremost. People/dragons are flawed. Biases exist for everyone and everything. Second, while not applicable to the DoD Peril is quite literally the face of terror for many as she was used as basically the executioner for scarlet. Which explains the general fear of her… and a tad for the DoD but not much more then a bit. Third. Despite it not being logical and far from fair. Her firescales are something to consider. As simply touching her even by accident can and will disfigure someone. Or damage property. Far from fair but its a unknown/unusual thing. Does she deserve it? Not really. Folks dont need to forgive her. Its unfair to those who lost someone. But for those who can she does deserve at least a chance for a decent life

sorry in advance for the long essay comment. while I do see where there is a sort of a double standard but deathbringer and peril are not in the same boat. so I wrote a essay. ok on the part where you mention that they couldn't blame a person for a biological thing. the problem is while its illogical it happens. Human history is an example of that very thing. its a thing that goes on today. people cannot change there skin, nationality or there gender. things which are defined by biology and yet people still use skin color, nationality, gender and even body characteristics and traits. the problem lies when you are told for so long a hate for a certain set of people for so long and have them depicted as monsters in the case of Black, Latinos, Whites, Russians, Chinese, Men and Women. or in this case Flame scales a Biological Trait of a Dragon which is mentioned that the Skywing Tribe sees them as Dangerous monsters and kill them off as soon as they catch them like the do with animus dragons. which would be common knowledge as they have been doing it for thousands of years as they mentioned doing so in Legends: Darkstalker. which toke place 2 millennium prior to the first arc. so it can be a case of societal bias. there is also a secondary trauma case that can be seen the Dragonets witnessed Deathbringer try to kill blaze with blade discs. however peril burns dragons alive which is like being a Wehrmacht trooper that toke a Willie peter shell(smoke shell) from a Sherman tank the only difference is peril is less sticky than the burning phosphorus(which is known to be impossible to put out and being sticky. in fact the use of willie peter as weapon is a war crime). the dragonets are non combatants that got to see a Burning Screaming Dragon which is PTSD and the peril touching said dragon being the reason for said dragon to be Burning and Screaming. Peril likely triggers PTSD for those who had seen how she kills dragons. when you take into account kill method Death bringer does not look nearly as bad. which is a reason why I don't really blame Queen Ruby from banishing Peril. Ruby literally watched Peril burn eggs. if both are true in a canon sense than reason B would be the Driving factor in reason A. as seeing the Traumatic Deaths of dragons at the claws of Peril. where peril incinerated dragons for sport in front of spectating dragons. darkstalker did so as a military operative hitting Military and Political targets. is considerably different in IRL terms on is a war crime. as Peril used herself which would constitute as a incendiary weapon on Prisoners of War in a gladiatorial fight to the death. Deathbringer is coming back from being a solder peril is coming trying to make friends with dragons she inflicted phycological trauma on. and PTSD is a hard thing to argue with speaking from experience. the only reason why Clay is warming up to Peril is because she saved his life. the other dragonets still only see her as that dragon who used to burn dragons alive. There is not a hypocrisy nor a double standard sense Peril is a Ex-Gladiator and Deathbringer is a War Veteran. Peril was killing for Sport and Deathbringer was a solder killing solders. there similar yes but there not the same thing. any as far as I am Aware only one did things that would otherwise break the Geneva convention in at least to cases use of Incendiary weapons indiscriminately being that Peril is an incendiary weapon. and execution of POWs effectively making her a War Criminal on at least 2 accounts where Deathbringer only hit military targets like generals and politicians. Queen Ruby is actually in a way Justified for exiling Peril do to witnessing her burn eggs and dragons(extreme trauma) and in a way kind of saved Peril's life as she would have likely have been murdered in the Sky Kingdom as she is likely not impervious to spears and other sharp objects. and the Dragonets are Justified because of Trauma which. the only thing the dragonets seen from Deathbringer was a Failed attempt to assassinate blaze where as they watched peril burn a dragon alive.

I kinda disagree. I don’t think the dragonets of destiny were too doubled standard-ed, more the books being double standard-ed or giving them different scenarios afterwards to show differences in future despite similarities in past. She wasn’t allowed back into her kingdom because of the new queen, not because of the dod. Queen Ruby directly saw Peril kill the eggs in front of her, but likely had no clue Deathbringer existed. The dod have little to no say on how the accepted queens run their tribe (without a coup). She was barely let into the school because of her fire scales (at least I can’t recall anything saying otherwise, though feel free to correct that). They were in tight cave corridors where you could easily bump into another and flame scales could do serious damage. Them letting her in at all is a testament to how much they trust her. The reason Deathbringer is allowed everywhere is because it’s his new job, a bodyguard to queen Glory. On the other hand, Peril is left with nothing to do, so she doesn’t go anywhere because she has no reason to be there. It’s more bias in the book’s part. Finally the issue with Peril betraying them would matter a lot. To the dod they just got out and are exploring the world. The first dragon they met decided them by acting friendly then went to tell to queen Scarlet. That was their first impression of her, and after that you don’t see her until the final book. They had no time to rebuild trust and that was their last memory of her. Deathbringer on the other hand was very honest about wanting to kill, not hiding his plans. Even if he wasn’t honest about wanting to kill the dod just had more time around him to learn about him. He was in every book in arc one after his appearance in the third book. None of this I would chalk up to the dod favoring Deathbringer for no reason, more the books just giving him a better hand.

I believe the reason the DoDs hate Peril is because they associates her with Scarlet (who traumatizes them badly) and they dont believe that she can change because they mostly view her as scarlet's killing machine. The same with Ruby and a whole lot of other dragons actually, since most of them didnt even view her as a dragon of her own, just as a creature with burning scales. For deathbringer, maybe there's a battle of argument between Glory and the other DoDs offscene, who knows. But just fyi, We hadn't seen much interaction between the DoDs and Peril after Scarlet's death, so maybe things have changed. Justice for Peril

I think peril for as much wrong should be treated more kinder and ik this isn't really canon but in my opinion i believe she's trans given how everything is but outside of that my OC would trust a firescale over an assassin and plus I'm thinking of an AU where peril stays with the DOD through arc 1 into 2 she'll mostly stay out of the rainforest and seawing kingdom but try her best NOT to kill anyone

I once had au idea where its three what ifs in one,two commen ones and one unique one those being what if sunny had animus,what if all the DOD gaurdians survied and my unique idea was was what if a ruinwing (my fan made tribe) was part of the DOD and in this fic they were alot more accepting of peril. Reasons why well to me they were less accepting in the original was because of her fire scales making her dangerous but in my au there more accepting because sunfire's(ruinwing DOD) abilities is alot more dangerous. So do you think that makes sense and solves this double standerd problem

I honestly disagree about how you talk about Deathbringer, (he is my second favorite character.) but Peril is also one of my favorites so I also think this is wrong.

To be fair, you have to really consider the circumstances. The DoD never actually saw Deathbringer do anything wrong. In fact, he turned on his tribe to help them. Yes he did wrong, but it's much easier to forgive someone when you don't see them commit wrong actions then when you do. They saw Peril kill others so it's much harder to forgive them. Not saying it's right, but in my personal experience, I totally see why the DoD are more forgiving of Deathbringer. If they saw him actually kill an innocent person or something then they wouldn't be as forgiving. Peril betrayed them as well so that is pretty important.

They were there when he tried to assassinate Blaze, though. But I do agree, it's much easier to forgive when you've personally seen less of it. It doesn't make it fair, but it's the truth

My view on death bringer has changed a lot, im starting not to like him mainly because Glory INSTANTLY accepted him like he did nothing. ( still don't like peirl mainly from how annoying she was in the book )

A huge mistake was made in book 8…Peril was 2 at that time and although she was mostly cut off from other dragonets, she’d talk more, and isn’t too much of a baby. Cliff wrote the anthem at 1. Also, both Peril and Deathbringer should be treated properly because killing is all they’ve known. Freaking hate TSUNAMI. Jerk. Peril SAVED your friend’s life and you still hate her? Hasn’t she been redeemed? Why are you nice to Deathbringer then? Maybe Tsunami’s just bitter Peril’s hotter than her (Quite literally). Another theory I had is given the proper training, flamescales can control their fire, able to literally breath fire on their hands and manipulate it, sort of like flamesilks.

Here's a little explanation on why they're treated differently. While yes, both Deathbringer and Peril are very protective of their friends/love interests, Deathbringer's loyalty comes from love, but Peril's comes from fear. The reason Deathbringer wants to kill for Glory is because he doesn't want to lose her, like he lost his mother. But Peril was willing to do anything to keep Clay around, even telling him off and getting him and his friends thrown in PRISON. Deathbringer, despite having the same base protectiveness, does what's BEST for Glory, but Peril doesn't. I know this'll trigger a lot of Peril fans (including me), but ya girl is toxic! She was manipulated by Scarlet into thinking she's the only one who will ever love her and her powers are the only reason she does (which was clearly false), and as a result, ended up with a fragile as heck self-esteem, which is why she freaked out when she found out Moon was a mind reader; she was taught that if she makes any mistakes, she's not worthy of love. Though she is a victim, she's volatile. Violent. She still has a long way to go, which is why part of her arc is facing the hypocrisy she's shown every day, but realizing it's not just killing that makes a dragon bad. No one trusts her because she's shown to be loyal to a fault, even to Scarlet, and even though she's gone, she would kill thousands if someone who's won her trust, making her both a liability and a wreck. All her life, she's been taught to follow orders, so yeah, jade mountain is right to be afraid cuz she'd destroy them if Clay asked her to, or if she was pissed off enough due to her mental image. Deathbringer, on the other hand, has already come full circle in his arc. While part of Peril's arc is learning to fix her moral compass, and acknowledging that just because her friend says something doesn't mean it's right, Deathbringer already learned this a long time ago, even teaching Flame! The dragonets know he's trustworthy because he knows the difference between right and wrong, but Peril has shown multiple times to follow orders that can endanger her friends. Who's to say she won't do it again?

ahem ahem. argument time. remember when peril saved clay from being mauled by nightwings in the icewing nightwing battle? when she made turtle laugh? REMEMBER WHEN PERIL WAS LITERALLY MANIPULATED BY SCARLET, THE BAD GUY HERE, INTO THINKING KILLING WAS OKAY? plus it was the war, key word: war, so of course dragons would be imprisoned and murdered.
