The Clod And The Pebble by William Blake Explanation in English
The poem " The Clod and the Pebble' is a short poem which depicts a conversation between a lump of clay and a pebble. Both hold opposite opinions on the subject of love. The clump of clay says that the aim of love is to be kind and gentle. Love is a selfless act. A person who loves another always tries to make the life of his beloved easy and comfortable. Love has such incredible powers that it can turn a hell-like situation into heaven.
The pebble has a different view on love. He says that love is cruel and selfish. It has no concern for the well-being of others. Love is so harsh that it can turn a happy, pleasant life into hell.
