Some context Ayame actually put down Duelist in her preferred role that's why Mother3 wanted her to be duelist. That's WHY she was chosen. The only caveat why Ayame is hesitating is she's a Reyna duelist player but not a Jett one but her preferred role is sentinel duelist according to Hal

also because she play agressively, to be honest i think that was too agressive, she really lack the ability to play as a team, she could've wait for skye's flash then entry but she entry immediately after dog, she could've done alot more to improve her teamwork

@@lolilegallolilovers5864 yeah if im the IGL, i would swap the timing of dog with drone. Dog to scout early info and recon for site info, then drone skye flash and entry to clear site

if she pulls this off even with only a few days before the scrims, it'll be one of the satisfying things to watch on the upcoming Vsaikyou. she's just so inexperienced with team plays which is why it hurts a lot watching it from Mother3rd-san's POV. communicating well with Nyaraka & trusting Emataso + Shinomiya with her back while playing a off-role and an agent that she barely plays, Ojou had some pressure building up already. thanks for the TL!

In Holo, I think we only have 2 duelist (and they are amazing). They are Ayame and Shion. Shion is the "Aqua of Valorant" with aggressiveness but lack of map awareness. Ayame is the duelist leader type who can initiate fight and strategize. The problem for both is agent pool. They are amazing Reyna player but not standing out in other agents.

i dont know about other members, but i have seen ayame clip doing headshot on enemy that only has few pixels of the head part showing, and ayame can aim on it. i think its make sense to choose her

Tier wise she is the only one who can do duelist. If Akarin could, she probably forced to do it too. The other stronger than Ayame is Naraka, but she is controller main, so its out of question since its better to have stable and strong controller.

Are those roles they speak about only relevant in a tactical sense, or are there gameplay mechanics behind them (aside from some characters just being better suited for a specific role, I mean)? I don't really know anything about Valorant if you couldn't tell x)

Its all about how to get to a place as effective as you can and how you can defend that point. Every character has different abilities to do it. The duelist in question usually is the first one in line to enter the place.

In valorant, there are 4 different roles. Duelists are meant to take space aggressively and enter the site through chokepoints. Initiators set up their entry and other teammates. Controllers can smokes sites to deny vision. Sentinels can hold space very effectively.

there are many agents with abilities that fall into these 4 classes so yea different roles do change the mechanics

they have abilities that let them do roles better than others Jett has a blink move, can float, and has a high jump move. she can set up her own smokes so she can entry safely. Raze has what is essentially a rocket jump. also has a cluster bomb grenade, and an exploding roomba that can reveal the presence of enemies. while Mother3 did ask for duelists, he meant those specific duelists. not all duelists have those movement skills. what he's really after is someone in the entry role playing as the best possible agent(s) for the job.

It’s not that hard nowadays considering she is a streamer with alot of subscribers that plays valo from time to time it’s not really suprising. I’ve seen twitch streamers with barely any viewers get a riot gun buddy because a riot dev was watching her stream

Yes, he is a professional Valorant streamer and he recently won the CR cup. Previously, he also met AkiRose in VCR Ark.

For anyone saying Ayame’s plays is too aggressive and doesn’t work well with team play just bare in mind that she usually solo queues in comp and I think there’s only 1 holo jp that’s in the same rank as ayame but she barely plays so Ayame end up solo queuing most of the time unless she can find a full party. Which is why im happy to see her play and interact more with others outside the holo circle just give her time dont hate.

from what i've seen ojou not suited for duelist role, she got really good aim but on low sens, it's kinda necessary to have mid-high sens duelist, since to "win" the entry u need to check every corner or atleast a risk corner which ussually need to look 180°, which can't be done by low sens, and since akarin has mid sens and she's used to giving call-out even when she's on combat, she's very suited the duelist role. imo.

Well, you wont want any other players in this team to take the duelist role. Akarin is not allowed to pick duelist. Naraka and Shinomiya have extremely good aims and comms, but letting those two playing duelist will be a waste. Both are really too good with their utils usage, I think even better than Ojou despite their difference in ranks, at least from what I've seen on their streams. Tasomaru is... yeah... the weakest aim-wise among these 4. So yeah, the best choice is Ojou.

yea it's disadvantagous, but iirc some pros sens is almost same as ojou and it works for them somehow
