Great reminder. I’ve heard: “Yonder Remains Blue” as a pneumonic to remember that colors disappear in that order: Yellow, Red Blue.

Please share what you use as a painting palette to hold you paints. It almost looks as though you leave them on 'something' permanently. I'd really appreciate as much information as you are willing to share. Thank you. I love your videos, plan to join membership 2024.

I use a piece of hard board or masonite, sometimes 1/8 plywood. You have to seal it with several coats of polyurethane so the wood doesn't soak the oil out of the paint.

Thank you. May I assume that your videos and approach to brushwork, etc. work just as well for Acrylic paint. I seem to be experiencing allergic reaction to oil recently. @@philstarke.artist

There's a scientific explanation for this. The atmosphere is blue, yellow is a complimentary color. If you think of atmosphere as a volume of gas (which it is), then the further away something is the more atmosphere (blue) there is between you and that thing. And since yellow is the light complimentary to blue, its the first to become obfuscated by the increased blue.
