The word salafi means a person who follow the Quraan & Sunnah upon the understanding of the first three righteous generations of the Muslims. first of all wahts up with your name? 2nd as Sh. Najmi said we don't divide when we correct others and follow Salaf, we only point out the error aka division and ask ppl to unite on the truth , the original foundation of the sunnah, thats all!

All those who follow Sunnah are technically those who follow the salaf and can be called salafi. Sheikh Uthaymeen (ra) said it becomes a sect when you do takfeer or belittle others who dont call themselves the name of the sect as some khawarij inspired people do.

Isra’il experienced, as closely as one sandal resembles another. If they had among them one who openly- had intercourse with his mother, among my people there will be one who does that. The B. Isra’il divided into 72 sects, but my people will divide into 73 sects, all of which but one will go to hell.” On being asked which it was, he replied, “It is the one to which I and my companions belong.” Tirmidhi transmitted it. A version by Ahmad and Abu Dawud from Mu'awiya has, “Seventy-two will be in hell and one in paradise, it being the community.
