The Tejas Mark 1 and Tejas Mark 2 fighter jets will be discussed in this video. Both airplanes belong to the same family but have different power and variations. With numerous orders from the Indian Air Force for defense purposes, Tejas Mark 2 is now being developed.

There is an order of 200 MK2 is going on , Besides the engine is fully supplied with tech by GE and France. One of it will be used in the fifth gen fighter.

After very long and costly development time for MK 1, Indians are now speeding up a much needed upgade to MK 2. The new fighter will have size, structure, materials, avionics and engine in order to perform like F-16 and Gripen.

Why not India have a twin Kaveri Engine based Tejas instead of GE F404 & F414. Both Kaveri & Tejas can go hand in Hand

Tejas mk2 is in prototype stage. So the size and design if the jet won't change.

Mk2 gonna be medium combat aircraft while mk1 is light combat so there will change in size

@@ramdubey5682 First of all both your statements are incorrect. There won't be change in size because the design is frozen an year ago. Changing size now would mean they'd have to redesign everything again and after the cds review and the funding was done after the final size shape and design was submitted. Anybody with common sense would know this. Secondly, who told you it is medium combat aircraft? Tejas mk2 is lighter than Mirage 2000 lighter than Gripen. Gripen is light combat aircraft. Tejas mk2 weighs less than 8000kg.

Yeah! When it comes to size Tejas is definitely one the smallest fighter jet in the world. Even it is smaller than the many drones. But when it comes to carrying weapons & used composite material, yeah definitely it's have an edge over some of the highly advanced fighter jets.

To make sure video watchers are not confused. There is no such thing as Tejas Mk2 yet. It is still a dream, not an actual aircraft. India media is running ahead of itself, when DRDO is yet to even produce Tejas Mk1a due to engine delays.

Lot of wrong information in a single comment. First DRDO doesn't produce Tejas mk1a HAL does. DRDO is research not production. And there are no delays in Tejas mk1a. Tejas mk2 is in prototype phase 80% of it has been constructed.

@@direwolf7491Care elaborate to public why the need for Tejas Mk1a arose? The existing lot of LCA Tejas are no where near the aircraft that was promised to IAF, hence this need for Mk1A, which is nothing but another promise to deliver what was originally promised...and it is still no where in sight...hence the talk of Mk2 and AMCA. AMCA is basically a precursor for scrapping Tejas program altogether. Wait and watch.

@@HarjeetSingh-ev8vk What??? Tejas mk1a is ready to be inducted to the IAF. What do you mean nowhere in sight? Talk sense man. IAF is comitted to 83+97 Tejas mk1A, 180 Tejas MK2 and about 40 AMCA mk1 Update your knowledge.

Rafale is way too advanced than mk2. It's good to appreciate and accept our Indian made aircraft, but don't twist the facts like you did with the combat range of mk2 which is 550-600 kms and not 1000 kms

1983 to 2003 development for Tejas MK1. Soo perhaps 2043 for the Tejas Mk 2.. . India have a pandemic habitude to not have the ability of strong and definitive decisions. Always, delay and delay.. That is very sad. Sad because the Tejas is the better light fighter in the wold.

You are providing a wrong info. Combat radius of MK1 is 500 kms and for MK2 it is 550-600 kms as per the available data
