Hey Frank, thank you for doing these videos...they have been incredible and inspiring. And you are totally amazing! I've been looking into multi effects systems and think the Fractal system sounds amazing. Just curious how you feel between the Fractal system compared to others like the Line 6 Helix? Is it also OK to ask about a particular guitar effect/sound from someone that I would like to figure out...maybe it's a preset already or a sound that you think is close to an existing preset? Thanks!

Dude, the Fractal units are the best on the market. They can do everything - many possibilities - many parameters. The Helix is fantastic as well. The sound is not as good as the Fractals, but the handling is very simple. What sound is your friend looking for?

@@FrankSteffenMueller Wow, thank you so much Frank and that is awesome to hear and so helpful. I am definetely going for the fractal!! I was trying to figure out a specific guitar tone being used by Jasen Rauch from Breaking Benjamin and Red. I know he uses a fractal and created a really cool tone you can hear on multiple albums. A good example is from the album Dear Agony album, track "lights out" (you can hear it as soon as the track starts) or "I will not bow". I hear this tone from other guitarists as well but not sure how they are doing it, but it sounds really cool. Thanks for any help you can provide! Brian

Tone is awesome, rich, huge and full. Do you use spdif or two cable stereo from your Interface? I can’t get my presets to sound as full like yours.

I appreciate the effort, but if I use the exact same presets and same scene, I don’t get these tones. I play them right along with you, and listen on the same headset.

Thanks man. Maybe the guitar makes some difference? Sometimes I use more delay or more gain, etc .... finally in my room it sounds like what you hear. Maybe it adds some highs though the mastering process in my DAW.

@@FrankSteffenMueller I favor the British blues/rock tones of the late '60s and early '70s, which is hard to get with a modeler. The tone is the sound of raspy thunder, not high-gain metal. I listen exclusively with headphones. I detest a flabby bottom and an ice-pick top. I play a Les Paul with Seth Lover PAFs and follow Jeff McErlain's guidelines for set up, which involve controlling most of your tone with your guitar knobs. I use the Brit JT45 Jumped amp. With the neck pickup on and the volume and tone knobs on 7 1/2, I set the amp for edge-of-breakup and touch sensitivity. I dial out the flabby bass of the amp with the bass control. Bridge pickup tone is balanced with its tone knob, which is generally turned down to 5 or 6. Mid and Treble are turned up a little, with Treble Gain turned up a lot. This gives a raspy tone to high leads, like a contralto who smokes too much. Otherwise, EQ is flat. Cabinet is one of the 4x12 Marshalls (I can't tell them apart) with the Low/High Cuts set following Leon Todd's recommendation -- 80 and 6500 with the slope of both set at 24dB. A little reverb is added with Recording Studio A -- 1.3 sec Time; 15% mix. Delay is Digital Mono at 300ms with at 7.5% Mix. I haven't settled on an 'always on' gain pedal in Scene 2 for more modern ODS-style smooth solo lead tones. I probably need some light compression in the chain, but I haven't installed it yet. Every day I learn a new trick and nudge a little closer to what I desire.

Dude, I don't think that this type of tuning significantly changes the beauty of the music. Karajan tuned the orchestra to 447Hz - others now tune to 432Hz - that's a hype - not more. Make music - PLAY!!!
