Armor upgrades can be quite confusing in Hypixel Skyblock, as most people will tell you to go down the traditional shadow assassin route, despite there being a handful of other options. Due to the meta being extremely overpowering and the lack of information on other sets, I've decided to piece together this non-dungeon comparison, because this way, we can properly determine if shadow assassin truly lives up to the hype, or if it's highly overrated. I'll be putting this up to the test alongside a handful of other popular armor sets and comparing their costing, requirements, survivability, damage and versatility.

A couple of things to note that I left out of the video: - Pricing will be slightly off as of 01/03/2024 (DD/MM/YYYY). This is because of the recent changes to the end island, which is currently released on the alpha network and is yet to be released to the main game. This has drastically artificially inflated ALL dragon prices, so the pricing in this video will be cheaper than what you see right now, in game. Once this update is actually released and the game has time to settle down, the pricing should eventually go back to normal and be more accurate to this video. - Renowned Superior gives 32,564 EHP instead of the 26,346 that Ancient Superior gives. Renowned is more expensive though, and it has a 20% gap compared to Shadow Assassin instead of 10%, so generally I wouldn't say it's worth it bc now you're overcompensating EHP, while losing out on damage

You never covered the best early game setup. The best early game setup is to start by building a cobblestone generator and mining cobble until you have a leg rock pet. That will get you you to 15m. Use the 15m to buy full strong dragon, an aspect of the end, and a warped stone. total cost, only about 8m. Now you can either go do a few commissions (mining xp is way easier to get than when we started) or you can find a random with mining 26 (or you can buy off ah for an extra 5m). In another video you said the best early game sword is aspect of the dragons. Combining your mixed setup with the aspect of the dragons costs you 9m and you get 225 damage, 186 strength and 76 crit damage. You can add an extra 60 strength and 40 crit damage with fabled for an extra 1m. With a warped aspect of the end and strong dragon you will have 340 damage, 365 strength and 150 intel for only 8m. If you include the dragonfuse glove and it brings mixed cost up to 19m and increases damage by 35 and strength by 50, still nowhere near enough to catch up with the aspect, which again is less than half the price. Plus if you want, you can spend 5m to upgrade it to an AotV for an extra 20 damage, and you could buy a rare enderman pet (for practically free) or an epic enderman (for just a few hundred coins) for 40 or 50 extra damage for 5 seconds after teleporting (pretty easy to just right click the ground every 5 seconds. I believe all of those numbers are correct, but feel free to reply with corrections and I'll edit if they aren't. This would make this the cheapest set (besides plain dragon with an aspect of the dragons) and better than practically everything on this list, for melee and lcm. I really hope you or other people see this comment, cus I never here anyone talking about it, but this setup is so good.

Just before anyone says smt about epic blaze pet, yes, it does give the armor Stat buff still, BUT the damage will only be equal to necrons, not better. The 40% buff nolonger affects damage stats, so all the extra damage comes from the legendary 2x potato books.

Then why has the chestplate at 18:51 21 Crit chance? Base is 0, reforge is adding 15, add 40% from the set bonus and you get 21… I have no idea where that extra crit chance (and also damage and crit damage) should be coming from if not the pets perk.

As you can see with his necron chestplate, the stars added 4 strength, base 40 + reforge 35 + stars 4 = 79, with FB you have 40 base, 35 reforge, 4 from stars and the remaining 31 are from the 40% stat increasing, dungeon level can be seen in grey and would make it 363

I have pre purchased my shadow assassin and livid dagger a long time ago so that I can immediately use it after completing floor 5. I haven't played for over a year and right now I am on unstable dragon armor with an aotd. I do have some money for not playing for a while (almost 20mil). In my opinion for the necron set you could have used a lion pet to make the comparison more fair since lion's price is similar to blaze and it is better than wither skeleton. But other than that, this video is pretty good and helpful for newer players. Keep up the good work👍

So my choice is: superior dragon armor This is due to the buff in the AOTD skill and the 5% status buff, which for me is very good, and is extremely versatile for other areas without buying/making other armor

Yeah back when I started playing, Unstable & Strong were "late game" and superior was "End Game". Now it's just a good mid-game setup to work your way into Necron/FB/Kuudra sets

Just use sa helmet for now I personally wouldn’t use tara helmet till you get necrons and are too poor to use golden heads and warden helmet

As a ironman player, im in love with Superior Dragon Set, while shadow assassin gives good damage on Dungeons, Superior Set gave me survability in F6 and got me the Giant's Sword. Tho, with the new Dragon Set coming to skyblock, im not sure if even Necron Armor will be viable.

You should test the pets that got buffed in the most recent update. Megalodon does as much, if not MORE dps than gdrag, skeleton pet is competing with edrag and giraffe now gives swing range!

[this is for people who aint ironman] crimson armor that doubles your dam and has better dam stats then superior and better then sa if you star it a couple of times. It can also do t4 sven, rev, spider and a lot of early game stuff. costs less then sa armor and requires combat 22. DO bestiary its op and after combat 22 and if you need an armor set for before this full unstable and grind spiders den zombies and deep caverns also goblins and glaciate walkers are good and deep caverns you can get loot share cores. save bestiary for golden dragon. crimson armor is slightly worse than necron but swipe is still insane, also if you do kuudra in crimson isles is better in every way btw you can upgrade it to first 10 stars before kuudra. boots 300k, helm 300k which can be replaced for tarantula helm for more dps and it keeps its ability's, leggings 400k, chestplate 500k. this is the prices from the time this comment was made. also, i know it has bad defense around equal to sa, but later on you can do half necron half crimson cause its ability can combo.

Glad you mentioned Frozen Blaze, you may have not gone into DETAIL into the armor set but obviously it isn't the point of the video. I just want to note that if you have seen Nuclear fuels video on Frozen Blaze pet + blaze pet vs Necron armor + baby yeti + GDrag and EDrag. Frozen blaze isn't as good without master stars, because of the blaze pets bonus of upgrading everything on it by 40%. It can actually outdamage Necron + Edrag very slightly while only being 100m+. I do also want to note that it's only good for higher cata levels and it also needs to have a lot of upgrades. The one downside is that it IS petlocked. But Frozen blaze should solely be used inside of dungeons. This is because the blazes 40% bonus actually scales with cata levels if I'm not mistaken. Until you get into MM7, it should be an insane armor set for late/endgame. Other than that, Great video Modern soldier! You and Fanku make a great duo when it comes into making great and informational videos.

Do you think you can run MM7 with FB? I don’t know the meta as my Coop got wiped because so my mate boosting some time ago but when it isn’t that much worse then necron with g drag it might work as an budget option?

Well, considering it being super tanky and reliable in terms of survivablity. It’s very possible that it gonna be able to be used in MM7. However, for the dragons. E drag will be more useful because of the perk that it will do 200% more damage to end mobs (Granted it is additive so it’s more like 25% in multiplicative). The only thing is. If you try to join an M7 party with frozen blaze, they’re probably going to kick you because the majority of M7 players are using necron armour. The main reason people use necron is because it isn’t petlocked, unlike frozen blaze. But, frozen blaze is a set only to be used in dungeons (because it scales exponentially with the blaze pet). I personally say just use crimson outside of dungeons. But will you be using different pets in dungeons? Probably not. So yea, It’s probably going to be good in M7. I - myself is also an FB user and will be using it in M7 eventually.

I play tank in dungeons and don’t yet have a dps set for the clear. I did get 3/4 crimson with Tara helmet for slayers outside of dungeons and find it nice and cheap, and have barely upgraded it. Edit: modern can I have one of those armor sets lol

I personally never understood why people say that SA is good outside of dungeons. Whenever I use it for slayers or other stuff similar to that I always die due to little to no defence, even though i have prot 5 and starred every piece (using 3/4 SA with Zombie Knight CP) If anyone could tell me why this is I'd highly appreciate it

Superior is Way more expensive to max.... Please update ur pricings cuz even tho Wither ess used to be more expensive now dragon ess almost double the price of wither essence and sa setup now costs around 7.6M to fully 5star while Suprerior costs around 16.2M which more than double. So SA setup = 25m-27m where Superior is 36m(10M more/almost 37% more) so i wouldnt really go for a 10% decreased dmg and 20% more Ehp Setup that costs 37% more.

@@RAMINxN1GHT Exactly. The update hype has caused massive artificial inflation that isn't accurate to the actual pricing of the dragon sets. Give it a few weeks after release and then things will be very different

Renowned gives you 51% more ehp than Shadow Assassin, but the damage difference is closer to 20%. I think most people can agree that 30% is more than enough extra EHP while still maintaining closer damage to SA

My frozen blaze does less damage than my shadow assassin for some reason, i have mid stats but that shouldnt make sa do more. I dont know why, maybe cause i use leg lion pet for sa? Can someone help me 😭 IGN:gwiloo3

Personally I have found myself not playing skyblock as a whole recently. The early game is just so extremely boring to me. I would much rather just grind f7 or m7 than tirelessly grind mean slayer or f3 etc. Do you have any ideas as to what I can do to make the game fun again? - Spirit

I don’t think the strong price is quite right. I just sold a string set for a lil a spice and it was the lowest on ah so I’d say it’s more like 4m

The new end update that's on the alpha server completely changed the pricing of all dragon sets (I recorded this video before then...) Give it a few weeks and everything should stabilise a bit more

After all of these "This gear isn't actually necessary for progression" videos, I don't even know what I should be doing anymore....So lost... Also, since Unstable's set bonus is practically useless, wouldn't it be better to mix and match pieces depending on what u need or find more useful? Ex: Half Unstable/Strong or even Young for extra speed?
