Pokemon anime is overall great, and it's quite crazy to think that there were initially no plans for the anime to continue after Kanto. The anime however has definitely been responsible for making Pikachu not only the mascot of Pokemon, but a major pop culture icon. It also gave us a unique protagonist in Ash, who travelled with pretty great companions (most of them), not to mention the pokemon each person/iteration of Ash has in each series. It is of course sad to no longer have Ash as our main protagonist, but his 25 year legacy of remaining 10 years old and being a unique battler will live on forever.

Journeys was fan service and no way can someone convince me otherwise. They finally gave ash a team that was fully evolved (aside from the obvious being Pikachu), ash got an actual mega evolution to make up for not getting one in the region where they were introduced (still annoyed they did they), ash got some fan favorite pokemon that, ash beat strong champions, and to top it off ash won a legitimate tournament (i know he won alola but come on, it was the first ever alolan tournament) truly a fun way to end the 25 year journey with ash

I do love how in Journeys they made sure to reflect how much Ash had grown, absolutely taking a mentoring role for Goh and Chloe where he could. Honestly I wish they had the idea for this series earlier so we could've had more seasons of it, but it's a fantastic way to close out the era regardless.
@sunsetvibe10638 ай бұрын
I love how the actual final episode is of the AU Ash that was starting to be featured in the movies. People forget, because this is the last time we’ll see the prime version of Ash. We might never see his alternate variant either. Y’Know, the one who’s only caught a Caterpee & Charmander. I also like how the final episode was drawn in the style of the first 7 gens of the anime. With the more angular shapes & smaller line work. It felt nice to have a final send off to this art style ‘cause while the new art style was great. That first style is how most people saw Ash for so long so it’s nice to see that acknowledged in the final episode.

It truly feels momentously nostalgic to finally get to rewatch Ash's entire journey all the way from the beginning to the end and catchup with the all the pokemon stories at once. Thank you so very much Jordan for allowing so many of us to rediscover and say goodbye to this iconic part of our childhood, which at some point we all left incomplete. :*

This series, even if it has flaws it's still pretty solid. It gave us the best conclution to the entire series. The story of ash was great, goh's story was nice (could have been better of course) and chloe was nice too. Even if a lot of filler episodes are bad, i don't think that makes the series bad. When i'm on twitter i found a lot of people saying "journeys is mid, horizons is multimillion times than journeys", i think a lot of people hated some things of this season because they didn't get what they wanted or just didn't liked. Journeys was truly one of the best series of the entire Anipoke's history. I'm glad that ash ketchum existed, without him we wouldn' t even get the web series or horizons. I'm happy that i grow up with this guy, without him i would have been depressed as a lonely kid. Thank you Ash Ketchum, see you next time as the journey continues.

I really liked Journeys, sure some of the filler wasn’t the best, but the episodes focused on concrete stories and battles, they are some of the best of the franchise. Loved how many previous gym leaders, rivals and companions showed up. Loved how Ash actively trained his team and how he didn’t easily breeze thru the Coronation Series and how the battles were legitimately hard fought. My favorite battles of Journeys are Volkner, Korrina, Cynthia, Leon and Drasna. Lucario and Dragonite are my faves from his Journeys team. And Goh was a really good companion.

Ash actually had a lot of consistency towards in terms of progression during most of his time in the anime: If you look at his journey he was always progressing: Gen 1 He was a complete rookie that talked big but knew nothing about being a pokemon trainer and needed to be taught everything. Gen 2 He becomes a trainer that at the very least knows the basics. But still a bit arrogant for his own good Gen 3 He is a bit more mature and acts as a mentor figure to May, that just like Ash, has a very similar beginning (seriously, Drew is just like the contest version of Gary). Gen 4 He is already an experienced trainer and it's the first time that he has to face someone with completely different ideals when it comes to training that makes him question his own methods. With both learning to respect each other's training methods at the end and grow from it. Gen 5 This one was a soft reboot. But you can easily consider him as an Ash that took some time away from being a trainer after diamond and pearl, and thus, needs to refresh his knowledge after going back to pokemon battles. Gen 6. He is back on track and aiming to win more than ever. But that's exactly what turns into a problem because he became too eager to win and didn't take things calmly. Specially when he sees other trainers like Sawyer catching up to him or even beating gyms first than him. Gen 7 He remembers why he likes to be a Pokemon trainer in the first place. He is an experienced trainer but and this time he has his mind in the right place and ends up winning the league in a region that basically became his second home. Gen 8 It's literally a culmination of everything he learned and him looking back at his entire journey.
@e.corellius449511 ай бұрын
something i noticed but no one seems to mention is that he slowly but steadily works his way up the champion rankings each gen. gen 1 top sixteen, gen 2 and 3 top eight, gen 4 and 5 top four, gen 6 second place, gen 7 region champ, gen 8 world champ. a slow but steady climb where he gradually did better each time giving a concrete metric to see his actual improvement as a trainer.

1:09:14 This was a point in the series where the SWSH games had been in its two year mark. And they were connecting the new experimental games Legends Arceus, and I like how they gave a nod to the games in slight aspects even sometimes spinoffs

This last season and specifically last set of episodes were a love letter to the fans. I appreciate the call backs and continuity in this last arc because you only got sprinkles of call backs in the other seasons. Ash always acted dumb when running into a legendary he met before

Jordan Thank you so much for this series. I felt like I was reliving a part of my childhood. This is definitely a series of yours I will go back and watch when I'm feeling down. Thank you for all your hard work !
