I pray that this video can be some help to those who really want to get in touch with the story of Kingdom Hearts before they play Kingdom Hearts 3!

So I'm paying attention and I made it all the way to..... KH2 and then that whole game, nothing made sense. I feel like parts were intentionally being left out of this explanation video. Why does Namine not tell Roxas he's a Nobody? Why does Roxas even come out of Sora to fight him near the end? Why does Roxas even go back into Sora at the beginning? I know he is Sora's Nobody, but wtf? Does that mean Sora is nobody without Roxas? because he slept until Roxas went back into him. If this thing is explaining things in release order why does it allude to games after KH2, before its had a chance to explain them? How come Sora is ok after Roxas leaves again? Wtf is going on? and WHHYYY are these games so NEEDLESSLY convoluted. It really ruins what could be an awesome franchise, and the awesome game that started it all. Seriously I love the first KH but the rest of them are just complicated for the sake of being complicated. It should be a separate series. Its like making a Muppet movie where they're Muppets and then making a direct sequel where the Muppets are time traveling vampires who team up with Mole people and Stockbrokers to fight god. ....just why? I really dont find all of that confusing stuff interesting. And I love Final Fantasy stuff and man... I think the success of KH has kinda hurt the FF franchise by trying to make it more like KH... They're potentially gonna ruin the FF7 Remake everyone has been waiting over 20 years on based on the ending to the first part of FF7 Remake. Jeebs... ._.

@@jacksonjack7838 some of these have legit answers (or non-legit but good answers), but others simply is because writers (I.e. Nomura) didn't know stuff well enough back then, it was on BBS where most things were defined and a real path was traced. And still after that they added stuff and even had to change stuff. So yeah in a 20 year project that can happen unless you are a pro writer like Brandon Sanderson.

Kingdom Hearts is what happens when you love your characters too much to kill them off, but your story involves a lot of people fighting to the death. So you just reincarnate them 3 times over, for every character.

Oh my God we know! I really want a documentary that’s behind the scenes where we get told the entire planned lore of kingdom hearts by the creators as they start/finish each game. Cuz very much like everyone else I’m also convinced they made shit up for the overall lore/plot literally in the game that any concept or thing appears in, nothing was ever planned. Crazy final hard boss in KH2 that’s one of the main overarching bad guys? Really fucking easy to make a cool looking final boss in a game then in the next one way well we gotta include that guy lol. Who in the fuck was the primary writer/writing team for this series? First KH I played on release and I was like 12. That game made vague enough sense due to acceptance of anime bullshit being a normal thing. Then all the other games get added and it’s more convoluted than if the xenogears and xenoblade games were more intricately linked than by a failed science experiment that resulted in the destruction and creation of a new universe and then locking that ability into a sweet sci-fi anime sword

@@GopherChomper the secret ending of kh1 was if there ever was a planned sequel. It was a only a concept which is why there are things in it that aren't in kh2 like Roxas with the heartless emblem and Kairi older design.

@@GopherChomper the writer is nomura and he's admitted in interviews to just going along with the flow and making stuff up as he goes (not all of it though) but he does has a vague plan for the story

@@GopherChomper I'm pretty sure the storyline unfolding for kingdom hearts was everyone sitting around a fire with a pile of beer cans, someone takes a long drag of a "cigarette" and says the next thing that comes to their mind. And they just roll with it. Now they're in too deep and don't really know how to end it!

Roxas showing up in KH3 fully killed the series for me. I never cared for Roxas really. The plight of the nobodies didn't sway me at all. Like dude you shouldn't exist on multiple levels, get over it.

I really like how the series draws parallels between Riku and Young Xehanort a few times. Once in BBS when Terra looks at Riku in Destiny Islands and in DDD when Young Xehanort holds his hand out to Sora

They should have a system where you can leave prison, but you have to literally recite the entire kingdom hearts lore in one sitting. And if you get a single fact wrong, you immediately go back to your cell.

I'm hoping to buy Kingdom Hearts 3 soon, so my sister asked me about the story of these games that I've Loved for over a decade. I tried explaining the story to her, and she got very confused and said " this is the game with the Disney characters, right?". It absolutely floored her that the story was so complex.

Thank you so much for the explanation my favorite story was Birth by Sleep because of the Terra and the whole Will Armor thing. I felt really sad at a couple of points in the video because you guys managed to explain it in a way that tugged on the heart strings. Real sad story can’t wait to play KH3

Oh yes, very helpful in deed. I didnt know there were more games for this series. I only have KH1 and KH 2. I finally got KH3 and as I was playing it (promiss no spoilers) what Master Yen Sin said to Sora, I was confused but now after watching this it all makes sence. Now I can play the game in peace!!! I disagree with people saying Kh has a terrible story. It is great, you just have to take time to review the full lore and analyze it fully in order to appreciate it. Eventually it will all make sense in time. Also, people have complained about Sora's positive attitude in KH 3 as though the last game had no effect on him. People like Sora exist, specifically those who strive to stay positive and retain their humanity in the face of adversarial struggles. It also seems frustrating Sora didn't get the girl to many, but to me it reminds me of how relationships don't always start when you want them to.

I've played almost ever game and still missed a lot this video pointed out. I'm in love with these games and only 2 I played I didn't care for because of battle mechanics like the card battle system. But omg just the intro to kh3 had me tearing up with nostalgia. The animations and worlds are gorgeous and the battle mechanics are crazy fun. The game was a bit easier than most kh games but that meant nothing in the face of nostalgia and an amazing story with memorable characters from such an amazing set of series

i wish there were subtitles as i had a hard time understanding several passages, but it's a good video! i've been loosely invested in kh since 2013 without ever *really* getting into it, so this helped a lot.

the fact that luxu is actually the villian but has been hiding in the background as xigbar/braig amazes me the story of kingdom hearts is so complex and so good. as a fan of the series playing since age 4! im 18 btw. im so excited to see where the story goes in the next saga im
