It explained a long time ago that wyverians, humans, palicos, and monsters coexist. The ancient civilization had somehow total control over the low ranking monsters up to the elder dragons. To the ancient humans, they didn't see the monsters as sentient beings, so they took advantage of them. One such instance was building a tower out of the remains of Kushala Doara apparently thwy sacrificed a lot of this type of elder dragon. Then they passed off the monsters, so pretty much the humans and wyverians were in thin ice with monsters. Then they had a idea they decided to create The Abomination they ended up killing 30 monsters to create this thing they wanted a powerful monster under thier control. This pissed off the monster population and our humanity hating dragon Fatalis came out of nowhere and burned the kingdom to the ground and Fatalis made that fallen kingdom its home. Not all elder dragons are bad as longer you don't cross thier territory then your good. The only time you have to kill the monsters if they suffer the frenzy virus and kill the elder dragon responsible for that.
