Kenneth McKenzie runs McKenzie’s Fresh Fish and Conch Shack, a popular oceanfront seafood shack set on the pristine waters of Nassau, Bahamas. Kenneth, who learned to cook as a child, serves up shrimp, lobster, and snapper, but the star menu item is fresh conch pulled right out of the water. Conch, large native sea snails, are prepared in fritters, fried in rice, and served in cold salads with hot peppers, diced vegetables, and soaked in citrus juice. McKenzie’s Fresh Fish and Conch has grown from one table to a thriving seafood destination and Kenneth feels grateful his career has kept him on a path toward success.

@@spacebabyksworld2581 It's hard to explain the taste unless you've grown up here but if I could connect it with some well-known flavors I would say the rice tastes similar to really high-quality Sushi rice with a mild tamarind/soy sauce flavor with a mix of Caribbean spices. It's big in The Bahamas. Not saying we're not traditional but it means a man should also be able to take care of himself... by extension when need be his family. Most men in The Bahamas cook.
@theechubbyone
@theechubbyone 2 жыл бұрын
It's very common in the Caribbean for men to be able to take care of themselves so their wives can't starve them or leave them helpless in their own home. At least that was my grandmother's logic for teaching her 10 boys everything her 4 girls would. My grandfathers, great grandfathers, Dad, brothers, uncles and cousins can all get by or run a kitchen for big and small meals if they need to. Anyone who doesn't cook in my family doesn't like the work or have a partner that's the better cook.

I’ve been eating conch since I was a baby, at least that’s what my mom told me.. conch fritters, grilled conch, conch soup, conch salad, and my absolute favorite curried conch! If you haven’t had conch yet, get your life! You are missing out, I promise you it is amazing, and yes it doesn’t taste like anything else except what it is and in my opinion it is not an acquired taste, it’s just simply delicious. I am from the tiny island of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
