Hi Dhruv....My husband is a captain and currently, we are sailing in the Pacific Ocean heading towards Los Angeles... I can definitely relate this situation to mine as we have crossed pacific meticulously coz of the rough weather. As our ship is fully loaded, we are extra cautious, but finally, we'll be reaching day after tomorrow safely😊

I was in the cruise ship on that tour as a crew ... Unforgettable experience and cannot believe that I survived. Thanks for the villagers of Giglio and few honest people, pax, crews they made their life threatened during this evacuation and made people survive as much as possible.

My father is also serving as a ship captain for more than 40 years. My own uncle was also a ship captain in Bangladesh. His passenger ship sank in 2017. He gave his life to fulfill his duty. We never found his body. He is lost at sea.

in April 2014, similar incident happen in south Korea ferry disaster where around 306 people died in which most them was high school students (maybe 250 std. 🤔) and other passenger too. Not only the sinking ship was lost but also slow response & evacuation procedure from the Captain and in the end the captains crew tell everyone to stay where they are, while he escaped from a lifeboat.💔🙄

Man that captain is unbelievable. Just because he wanted to say hi to his senior who wasn't even there at that island at the time, he put lives of over 4000 passengers at risk😳. He sailed even less than a quarter kilometer near to the island, then kept lying and denying and left the ship at the very first go. Wth!! This is what happens when u have a coward ill-informed and ignorant leader

Another fact Russel Rebello was the last man found on this ship . His body remainings were recovered after 2years from the incident. He became the true Captain of the ship that night. Salute to the brave heart. 🫡

Dhruv dear, Schettino's female friend (an artist or dancer) later admitted in media, she was in captain cabin that night, and Schettino was drunk and maybe wanted to sail by as a show-off. No doubt he did not perform well as professional captain and crisis manager. Even that female dancer was left behind by so called friend Schettino, and she rescued herself beforeshe rescued personally so many stuck people.

I was on this ship as a photographer and about to go home in 20 days, but this incident happened. On that night, I went to take photos of the group of 21 French people around 8-8:30pm. Later I understood that this was the group who asked the captain( Schettino, in Italian it pronounce like ''Skettino'' not shhettino.) to take the ship lil closer to island. it's usual routine for the ships to go close to island when passing by(maybe because of tourism purpose), but that night it way too close. I managed to save 2 crew members with the help of other couple of Indian crew, sadly I dont meet them later. The Italian guy who we saved, tattooed his arm with '' Thank you India''.
