I actually quite like Wrexham it's nice to see owners who actually care and are heavily involved in a club

There’s nothing controversial about it. Ryan and Rob are what every club owner should be. They genuinely care about the town/people/culture/language etc, not just the club.

As a Welshman living only about 50 minutes from Wrexham its refreshing to have a Welsh team being invested in by someone like Ryan Reynolds. I for one look forward to seeing Wrexham in the Football League next year. Good luck to them. Additionally its also rekindled my interest in football. Also Ryan Reynolds is actually Canadian

I am so proud of my son and a number of other young men who set up the Supporters Trust about 11 years ago. That saved Wrexham FC and got the community involved in a positive way.

as someone who’s lived in Wrexham for 6 years, and actively supported the club before rob and ryan bought it, i love how involved they are in the community. every time they visit they go to the bar by the racecourse (the wrexham stadium) and buy a round for everyone. i’ve met rob and he’s a lovely guy, and i fully support them buying out the club and love what they’ve done for it.

I think it’s a good thing and has created more interest in non league. I was looking forward to the game on Monday for weeks and it didn’t disappoint. Can’t remember when I’ve been so buzzed for a game that involves two teams I don’t support. I can see why some maybe annoyed as they have wealthy backers, but it’s no different from football across the globe.

How can people say that we ignore Notts and the other teams because of Wrexham? Before they took over, I had no idea that Notts County was even a team, let alone their history and also, even Ryan acknowledged their great season, we all do and hope to see them promoted.

As an American I have never followed English football, I started watching the Wrexham documentary last year and I am now an avid fan of English football what a wonderful story, I am happy for Wrexham and their fans and I hope the other teams in the national league get their storybook ending as well, what this whole Wrexham thing has done is brought thousands and thousands of more fans to English football with a better understanding of how it works, I think this is a win win for all.

Wrexham's owners have a good social conscience and who knows, maybe it'll become fashionable to run clubs in a financially stable way and boost up the community as opposed to just being in it for greed and to sack the head coach every 5 minutes. Having said that, Luton truly are the real underdog story in English football and maybe even beyond. Their fans truly deserve the journey they're on given all the madness they been through not so long ago.

Speaking as Australian, I had never heard directly of Wrexham, and with your new owners in Rob and Ryan, Wrexham has now reached an international fan-base in myself and no doubt many others. Am I here because of Deadpool? No! but I am here because of what they have done and their story. If the club was on the brink after 160 years of disappearing, and have an injection of money to assist them, then by all means continue doing what you are doing. It is only helping the town in employment, living conditions, etc. Hell, I want to now go to Wales and watch a game. Its a business and they need bums on seats! In 17/18 season they average 4000 fans, today they are close to average of 10,000. Now in 17/18 that would be about £200,000 today the club alone has taken in the 22/23 season over £500,000. What will happen to the players should they go up? I would assume like anything, they should continue to hone their skills, but should they not be able to perform, there will be more money to now be able to fund better players. Congratulations to Wrexham and your fans ... now google to buy a jersey

Ryan Reynolds is Canadian, people love him here and because of that I see people walking around in downtown Vancouver British Columbia Canada with Wrexham jerseys, hats and hoodies. It's crazy and awesome at the same time.

For me, this is the real life FIFA video game dream. Taking a 4th division club, injecting a little money, upgrading facility, buying better players, finding youth players, promotion after promotion. Its the best story in football because itd what we've always wanted to see. Imagine if they get promoted this year and again next year. It'll be absolutely incredible. If they make it to the Prem within 5 years itll be on par with Leicester prem win in terms of story.

We once had bad owners, faced administration and points deductions, relegation, followed by another relegation. I spent days collecting money in buckets to keep us alive as a club. Once watching us play Sheffield Wednesday, Bristol City, and Huddersfield, to watching us play Histon, Bath, Salisbury. We, the fans, have earned this. Yma o hyd🔴⚪️

I was sceptical when Rob and Ryan purchased the club but given their personal investment of both the men and women clubs are showing how much they care about the club and are investing into the community... I am glad for the success of Wrexham with owners that actually care and demonstrate that by being there when the firs season in charge didn't work out but this season is looking so well... fingers crossed for them getting up

I like it all! Rob and Ryan did great research and picked a great team/city/situation…that in itself is impressive. They picked something that would have several years of good TV ahead as they knew they could bring it up a league or two. That alone was good thinking. Then the whole story of Wrexham was great and worthy of watching. Now it gets harder but a lot of us are along for the ride at least for a few years.

Whether intentional or not the guys found a working class football club and revitalised an entire community by giving them a team to be proud of, it's hard for me to not get emotional seeing their fans having a good time because there is now a buzz around that city that Ryan and Rob have bought into. I'd kill for some well intentioned moneyman to make Hibs a viable title contender

It's an interesting argument to make as a whole but for me, the Notts County/Wrexham game getting the attention it got is something almost unimaginable 2 years ago. There's definitely a stigma of "rich, American owners" in English football (for good reason) but I do think Rob & Ryan are in it for the long haul and hopefully the Wrexham model is something that any potential buyers out there for lower league clubs can use as a model of success in order to see more stories like this one. Also, kudos to Ryan specifically for calling out a need to get the lower leagues streamed as well, as a means to help improve fandom for all of the teams involved within it and generate that extra income as well.

I think the takeover of Wrexham brings attention to non league and allows clubs to be potentially bought over. Yes it might mean it is harder to get promoted however I think Wrexham is allowed to have a bit of fortune because of how much crap they've had to endure for 15+ years

I love this story. Owners chose a deserving historic club who were repeatedly regulated to revitalize. It is most definitely an underdog story because you have to look at where they started and how badly they were previously managed. The infusion of money is certainly part of that story, but it’s equally important to spend that investment wisely. Money alone won’t buy you a championship (but it certainly helps). No sports fan anywhere in the world has ever complained when owners are willing to dip into their own pocketbook because they believe in what they are doing. Too often it’s the opposite where owners care very little about fans except for how they affect their bottom line. To have a pair of owners willing to make such a commitment and to leverage their own celebrity to give the club as big as boost as possible is truly amazing and remarkable. It does not take away from the underdog story, IT IS THE UNDERDOG STORY.

Its a great story not just because of the football and the Hollywood connection but how they are helping to regenerate the town that had fallen on hard times. These two celebrity owners have done something that no useless idiot politician could do and with a lot less money as well. The town is buzzing it seems and it has brought everyone together. I feel for County, hopefully they go up through the playoffs. Interestingly in 2012 Wrexham finished 2nd with 98 points to Fleetwood who had some dude named Jamie Vardy…. No idea what happened to him. Wrexham shouldn’t be regarded as underdogs on the pitch (not at least until they reach higher leagues), but what I like about the documentary (being from North Wales myself) is that they make it clear it’s a town of Underdogs so to speak Too big to be a town, too small to be a city (until 2022 anyway). A mining community that was left behind with the closures but still has the scars to this day (google Gresford disaster- the victims bodies are still in there). The ancestral home of Welsh football but who had to save them at the last hour? FAW? Nope. The fans. Too Welsh for Westminister to give a shit, too far North for the Senedd to give a shit either. Those are your underdogs. Rob & Ryan clearly did a lot of research before buying and knew the story of the people would be what sells, something you don’t get in American sports where there’s only 30 teams per sport, all owned by billionaires and they threaten to move to a different city if the local government won’t pay to replace their 20 year old stadium with tax payer money. They are the example of what owners should be, embraced the club and the fans, the history and even the language. They easily could have got some cheap laughs about the Welsh Language but didn’t

It's not like billionaires buying a club like toy, or a status bragging jewel >>Like the oil clubs...There is a big difference, look at City under the spotlight with an insane spend and basically corruption...Then look at Liverpool with wealthy owners who built the club up, looking more at keeping the core of what a club is about....Wrexham have to be given the nod, they have the supporter base, history, owners trying to keep the supporters central to the journey, with owners that genuinely are for the people....All the best to them..

Well done!! I watched the mini series "Welcome to Wrexham" because of Ryan and Rob. I became a supporter of the team because of the people of Wrexham. They're down to earth working class people as I am. Go Red Devils!!!

I'm happy to see these historic clubs get a true revival and the love is reciprocated back to the fans but clubs being bought out in the top tier raises some eyebrows for sure

As a Texan who only became interested in soccer because of the run up to the World Cup, this story was entertaining to me. We typically aren’t as knowledgeable about the sport and traditions tied to it here in the States so, it is a great way to bring someone like me into the world of English football. All the Americans involved with Leeds did a similar thing. It’s a hook and now I am slowly becoming more educated. Bandwagoning Wrexham is a joke for the experienced fan but for me, that’s where the easy to access and digestible info is until I become a more sophisticated fan. When that happens, I too will then hate gimmicks and throwing money and resources at one team only and pretending it’s a miraculous, unforeseen turnaround. By the way, great video

I grew up 20 miles from Wrexham and have been to the Racecourse ground a couple of times, once to see Wales v Scotland and another time to watch Stoke City, the team I followed, play Wrexham - that was in the old second division. I am glad the new owners are investing in the community and giving the community a team to be proud of.

I don't see what would the problem be here. I root for Leeds but Wrexham has become my second team to root for. The entire story is fascinating and the best is yet to come!

As someone who was born and bred in Wrexham it's amazing what's happening in the town.

I am 50/50 about Wrexham. In one way I am happy that the national league has been getting good media coverage and the recognition it deserves. But also it has made it feel like no other teams have a chance.

I was against Wrexam, I thought they were an national league Man City, and to an extent they are, but I have changed my mind on them. They are a very important club to the local community, and definitely deserve to be in the EFL on fans and community work alone, so having richer owners is fine with me. A football club is more than just on the pitch, and Wrexam is a very important club to succeed for a lot of locals. Plus it is undeniable that Ryan actually cares about the club and is running it sensibly, so already better than the Glazers and Boehly

Seeing what a couple celebrities can do to a town and community really puts into perspective what celebrities can really do if they had genuine passion and care. Screw the philanthropy, get yourselves directly involved in the community. This is such a victory on all fronts and can potentially change a lot of things especially with the expectations of people with deep pockets of money.

These owners have been great for the game and expanding interest to the world. It’s been a big part of connecting myself to actual players besides just the ones in the top headlines. Been a fun ride so far and looking forward to following the story onward.

I’m American and a huge soccer fan. I watch the premier league every weekend but never really watched or followed the lower leagues. But now Wrexham has got me into watching lower league games. I think the exposer Wrexham has brought has shown people that lower league soccer is awesome.

You said that all top level European clubs were run by billionaires, but I don't necessarily agree with that. How about you look into the German Bundesliga and the 50+1+ rule, I think it's really interesting how German clubs are still able to compete and be owned by the actual fans without having outrageous ticket prices etc.

I am American and don’t have the deepest understanding of the English football system and history, but have played and been a fan of the sport since I was 4. I think the series showed how competitive the non-league actually is and highlighted the system in a way that would get more people interested. I’ve always watched any game I find but have never followed anyone other than my women’s national team, but learning more about it makes English football more interesting to me. I’m also excited to see the next season of the doc bc I believe they’re highlighting the women’s team more and drawing attention to that sector. I understand the distrust and people that have concerns, but I think I’m the end it’s an overall good as long as they don’t change their intentions once the documentary ends. GO WREXHAM!!

Got attracted to the story by knowing the owners, since they are huge public figures. But got to admit the series is very well produced, and the story telling showing the people and the community makes you a fan. End up loving the club not for Rob and Ryan, but for the small community that has struggled for years with the club they passionate have loved for decades, and being on the verge of disappearing. As you said, it's nice to see owners that are committed and engaged and want to do things right, and you can also see their transformation along the road. They moved from soccer to football 🤣and when you hear them talk in the interviews, they appear genuine (let's be honest.. they are not great actors, so don't think it would be fake 😛). Not a Wrexham fan, but I'm pleased for Wrexham. I don't care if other clubs fans don't like it, Wrexham deserve what they have achieved. Big names don't always mean winning way. Good luck to them in the 2023/2024 season.

Never underestimate the brilliance of Ryan Reynolds and where he spends his money. That man is fucking brilliant in the business world and everything he’s touched has exploded. Don’t forget that Ryan Reynolds just sold Mint Mobile to T-Mobile for well-over a billion dollars….and during that sale, RR personally made around $600 million. Wrexham will continue to grow as long as RR is there because the club will have a ton of available cash along with a brilliant owner(s)

I love how humble all the players are at this level and how close the fans can get to them. It's refreshing to see players playing for the passion of the game and not necessarily just a pay cheque!

I don’t mind Wrexham as much as a lot of teams that get rich owners in the lower leagues (AFC Fylde I’m looking at you) because their owners are quite involved and quite likeable. But the media obsession is starting to get annoying

I love how the english categorize Ryan and Rob as the ultra rich. Take a look at the Forbes list, they're rich but they aren't mega rich. This was a dangerous investment, that's why they had to split the deal. Rob didn't have the backend by himself.

As a long suffering Wrexham fan going all the way back to 2022, I LOVE the way Rob and Ryan are running the team.

I think the real issue isn’t two people buying a club to create a story whilst helping a community in dire need and building a historic team back up to their level, but the FA for not supporting the teams who are further down the pyramid just because their games aren’t as monetisable as the higher leagues. Non-league and lower are as essential to the pyramid as any other and we’ve seen too many great clubs with history fall under recently. But notts county fully deserve their props and this season is proof that 2 teams need to be promoted automatically from NL to L3, its a travesty that a team with 100+ points isn’t assured promotion 💀

I understand why people would be sour about a league rival suddenly having the cash flow to purchase better players (the "why couldn't it have been us!?" mindset). But I think that even with the better odds of winning games and receiving promotion, there's still no guarantee that any roster will even find that success just by attracting a couple of guys from the higher tiers and putting them out on a bad pitch, coached by a miserable manager and support staff, in games where the attendance barely reaches 60%. Rob and Ryan have done a complete overhaul, from the turf, to the stadium, to the staff, to the players, to the volunteers, to the community and the fans. And that initial investment paid back big dividends quickly which I don't think many people expected. They could have bought the team for the curiosity and left it to languish in the National standings for the tax breaks and offsets to their income, but they haven't. The second season of the docu-series laid out exactly how much money they invested on the risk that they might not even get promoted, and given the way Notts County were keeping pace with them all season (without celebrity endorsements and big player signings), they were fortunate that things paid off the way they had hoped. Other owners buy teams in order to clean up their public image (it's often called "sports-washing") in order to gain favor with the public as well as potential business partners and bankers. Rob and Ryan are not laundering their image or reputations, they did this as a genuine investment to support an ailing club. They didn't even start out as fans of the sport or the club itself, but they have adopted the town of Wrexham and it's football club and became fans and supporters of the players and the local community. I think that's a lot more remarkable and admirable than some other foreign investors currying favor with the British financial system by purchasing large clubs for the notoriety. If more local owners (businesses or the municipality for example) bought or invested in local clubs, you wouldn't have princes and sociopathic billionaires putting their thumb on the scales to unfairly stack the leagues. The other nice thing I noticed in Season 2 of Welcome to Wrexham, they gave free promotion to their rivals and competitors, and recognized the achievements of Nott's County for their success as well. By Wrexham climbing the ranks so quickly, all that attention is being put back on the lower tiers of football as well, and it's generated a lot of new international interest.

While there's plenty of underdog elements to this story regarding the people and community of Wrexham, the other aspect people overlook is Ryan and Rob themselves. While it's easy to see them as the big tv and movie stars they are now, the show does a good job of highlighting where they came from. Neither of them was born into money. Probably one of the best parts of the show is when Rob shows his son the small inner city home he grew up in and tells stories of how important sports were to bonding with his father. Yes, they have money now, but there's still the journey to get there and deciding how they want to continue there success. If you compared them to someone born into wealth who just did this as a hobby, then the underdog element becomes more apparent.

Notts County was one of those teams a bit over a decade ago. They had a young Kasper Schmeichel and Sven Goren-Eriksen as their manager in League Two

As a Liverpool fan, we've had an amazing owner in David Moores and a horrible one in Hicks and Gillette, now a mediocre one in FSG, I'm super stoked for a club like Wrexham to have R&R as their owners. We see John Henry once in a blue moon, only shows up when we win something, never really gave any funds to a world class manager. I will admit they did some good business in building the new training centers and the two stands, but at the end of the day, it's just business for FSG, no passion. They are just there to up the value of the club and sell. With R&R, you can see the passion. Rob learning Welsh, Ryan showing up whenever he could and using their fame to promote their team, you can see how much they value the club and the community. So all the best to Wrexham tbh. It's not a fairytale, but it's a damn good modern sports story.

Ryan applied to national league to get tv or streaming rights to games national league didn't respond at all. Ryan continually brought up this, eventually vanarama national league streaming service was announced. Thank you Ryan and Rob now all fans in vanarama national league can watch their team even if they don't have tickets. P. S. When my dad got transferred in his job from Manchester to North Wales, I used to go to the old racecourse ground regularly, stood in the Kop next to an old geezer who no Matt what happened used to shout "kick him in the balls and send him off ref" quite a character, I remember Dixie Mcneil scoring an equaliser against the then FA Cup holders West ham, a team that had Phil Parkes in goal , Trevor Brooking, Alan Devonport et Al good memories and good luck to them , but I remain a United fan to this day

I’m a Southend fan same league as Wrexham with an owner who don’t pay wages when he can get away with it who has dragged Southend down to non league every week we get told the end of our club is near So what do I think of Wrexham I think it’s fantastic good for them they have got owners who have invested in the club who have made them so big to international fans not just local I think they are brilliant and good luck to them I hope they get into the premier League eventually

In my opinion, sure they can out-spend everyone at the moment and have done, however I think that after receiving that initial injection of cash, the high spending will start to decline as the team find more and more stability.

It's always a good story when teams rise up through the league's, and used to happen quite a bit before the premier League, such as Swansea ,Luton, Wimbledon and Watford in the 80s, or Fulham in the late 90s.... Usually takes a good chairman, good management and a lot of money (and that last factor even more so these days).

While Wrexham has a lot more money then other clubs, and they obviously have great PR as a result, they also have advocated for better television coverage for the entire league which would help the lower leagues. I have soft spots in my heart for lower league teams - especially those that have long history, or have fallen out of the higher divisions, etc. and would love to able to watch those matches or subscribe to a single team. Lastly other investors might realize that these clubs can be good investments in the fact that if you spend a little and move up the divisions the value of the club will grow which could encourage further investment. Of course having ownership standards are absolutely key as there has been plenty of shitty owners who ruined or nearly clubs (Notts County can probably relate). Let good owners in. I'm not sure how you make sure that but Reynolds and Co seem like good owners.

You hit the nail on the head, every club would love the funds to compete at the highest level possible. Whining about it is jealousy pure and simple. Unless the ownership has done anything illegal or unethical, like overvaluing sponsorship deals with their other businesses, then why begrduge them success. Wrexham and Luton show that there are more ways than one to rise through the pyramid, one is not necessarily more "right" than the other.

People diss Wrexham when teams like Man City, Chelsea, Man U, BARCELONA, get nothing really said. Football is changing and Wrexham have put themselves ahead of the curve for where they are. This season has been a brilliant story for them. Pulling nearly 10k for a home game when you're not even in the main leagues is astonishing. I can't wait to see how far they can take it. Who reaches the Prem first? Wrexham or Hashtag? Bring on the revolution.

Also big ups to Dorking Wanderers - currently just above the drop zone in the National League. The only semi pro side in the league, and have achieved something like 11 promotions since their inception in 1999. The manager and owner, Marc White, has been there since Day 1. Great story!

As someone living in America and loving football (not American), I am happy to see what happened with Wrexham. Good story, and from the few matches I seen a good club. I think that most of the people not happy and complaining are not worried as much about the fallout of "rich" owners. I think that those who don't like what is going on, are more worried about the owners of their fav club, not stepping up as Ryan and Rob did.

Yes, football is run by money. As a fan, you can only hope that your club has/gets ownership who care about the club and community as much as you do. It can only be a dream come true for the supporters of a club if they get both caring owners and money. It seems to me that Wrexham hit the jackpot in that regard. And hats off to Ryan Reynolds for sharing his respect for Notts County after the game, saying he hopes they promote up to League Two with Wrexham.

i think it is great promotion to the national league and it's nice to see people investing in clubs like wrexham, and hopefully this will happen to other non league clubs too. i do think wrexham are very fortunate to have these owners however as they are able to bring in ex prem players, and quality players who wouldn't come down to non league football. they are also able to offer higher salaries and get better sponsors, it's similar to hashtag united in that respect (sponsors).

Don't get me wrong, I am not the biggest fan of Wrexham having all this attention and money in the national league, however it is a breath of fresh air to see foreign owners who give everything for the club and actually know what this club means to the fans. The same can't be said for many foreign owners even in leagues like the championship and the Premier league.

I am from originally from Blackburn and remember when Jack sank his millions and bought the struggling team, it was huge for our relatively small town and surroundings, and brought much excitement and further investment, I see good things in Wrexhams future along these lines :)

If you think about it, every oponent of Wrexham is receiving a serious amount of exposure by just playing against them.

I think its great that they have owners who actually care about the success of the club and will do whatever it takes for them to field the best team possible, instead of having owners who do not care and just bought the club to have it on their resume

I mean Notts county is a league two team that went down to national but always prevails on coming back. The problem with the National is that there are only one automatic promotion and the playoffs are really hard to win.

I agree completely. Owners who see the investment in a football club as not only part of owning a team but an investment in the community are what every team needs. I hope their move inspires other like minded ownership.

Great vid. What's more, Wrexham have now got 107 pts (2 games left and 4 pts clear of Notts County), the first team in British history to reach this mark. Tbf, if Wrexham didn't do it this season, Notts would/could have. Will be interesting to see if they bring in any former top level pros (like Foster) to join them in League 2. I'm loving the fairytale story. Not quite a fair comparison, but fun to see how two Americans with no football background run the club compared to Beohly, who feels it's appropriate to go into the team dressing room after a match and bollock the players, while simultaneously undermining the manger.

It's hard to see this as a bad thing. Wrexham were a run down football club and suffered from bad owners. I'm old enough to have seen Burnley at the Racecourse! When I watched the documentary it struck me that Wrexham were in a way similar to Burnley. Historic club fallen down the division, and very strongly a community club. Their Hollywood owners have invested not just in Wrexham the club, but also Wrexham the town. It should be emphasised that there is no FFP in the National League so they have not "cheated" in any way. I get that other National League clubs might not feel much love but overall and long-term this kind of investment in non-league clubs like Wrexham can only be good.

I think most of the hate comes down to one thing. Jealousy. Ryan and Rob could easily have bought a bigger club on the verge of success, but they didn't, they bought a club who only a few years prior were almost out of business, and have given them real hope. Which fan doesn't want this for their club? It's the same as the hate that City are getting, and previously my club Chelsea got. It's pure jealousy that it's not happening to their club

I grew up in Chester and way back we used to have some cracking games, at times I would go to see Wrexham play with my Uncle so I always had a soft spot for them. Wrexham has been through some crap times over the years hence the 1934 on the back of their shirts. Past owners who wanted the club to fail. So you go all the way Wrexham, as for others it's jealousy that they were not the chosen ones.

Here's the thing with Wrexham Rob and Ryan clearly care for the history of the club and want to bring them back to the glory they had so its nice they bring the media to the national league

People or fans who have negative things to say or call it cheating, they know full well if it was their club being bought by owners that actually care and are present, they would be very happy. But because its happening to someone else, people get bitter and envious. There are pro's and con's to Wrexham being bought and getting all this attention, but there are pros in cons in everything. Its not controversial nor is it cheating. The solution shouldn't be aimed at the clubs or owners, but rather the league pyramid. If the FA or whatever cared enough about the sate of the clubs in the league, they would do something about it. Money talks.

Great video my friend. However you left out the most important fact about Robs conversion to a football fanatic. It was when he discovered the promotion relegation system. It captivated him to realize a club could climb the ladder to the Premeirship. That's whwn he got the itch to buy a club. Cheers

Can't really begrudge Wrexham, they've always been one of the best supported in the league and have run close a number of times. During which time a fair few smaller clubs with substancial investment have gone up (Fleetwood, Salford etc). If the football league was fair there would be 2 automatic promotion places and 1 playoff promotion from the Vanarama. Would help alleviate the bottleneck of clubs, but thats another issue.

As a Charlton fan, whose owners have repeatedly bled the club dry, sold young talent and have never EVER invested, I'd kill for owners like Wrexham's. No contraversy here apart from passionate fans, passionate players and passionate owners. Simple as. Anything else is sour grapes, quite frankly.
