He says he built it for cheap but the skill that he has and it takes to build that car is priceless

I would drive it the way it sits , that is a hot rod. Built just like my grandpa built back after WW2 I love looking through his pictures and seeing what he and some of his buddies built with surplus war stuff and a 20$ used car. This is hot rodding. My pops had a garaaage as Chad would say that was incredible. After he was out of the service he started himself a 4 truck trucking business and started buying up machine shop tools from the military surplus sales and from what he learned in the service and trial and error over the years he produced some killer old hotrods and later in life he got into boats. Those days are gone and my uncle sold off almost all pops big tools after he died, he didn't think anyone in the family would want any of the punches presses all sorts of stuff. I was lucky to get his head roller and English wheel also a 6 in tool called the metal worker or something like that that does a bunch of cool things. I am in process of setting up stuff in my newly added on shop so that I can start to teach myself metal work. I have a dream of building my own 50s era roadster from scratch frame body all by my hands and some friends steady as we go. Great job Chad keep the videos coming Jolene

When I toured the old storage place with Chad and Jolene, the 32 Ford was my favorite of all the cars. Love them all. But this one wanted to come home with me. Jolene told me he would never sell it. What a beauty that car is.

I wasn't going to comment on this video, but the more I watched it the more I saw the raw creativity to make things work that was put into this 32. Chad & Jolene you're doing a great job. I can't wait till you get back on the Bugatti!

Your are correct that is one badass 32 ford. Definitely would be cool to see it in motion. The tri-pack with period correct air cleaners is the perfect match for the old school hotrod look. The old Nailhead V8 should stay under the hood since the hard work of adapting it in is already done along with the rebuilt heads. Very cool build. If Jolene likes to use this car in the future for a nostalgic car race please put a roll cage in it with a proper seat/harness. Very easy to flip a car unexpectedly on it's roof.

Very nice looking 32 Ford hotrod. Great job getting the truck chassis to work with the body pieces. Be really great if you could find a flathead Ford V8 engine to put in the engine bay. Always love the sound a hopped up flathead Ford V8 makes. You have a very nice car collection. My uncle was also an avid car collector. His preferred cars of choice were vintage 1930 era Packard Automobiles. I helped him restore a rare 1934 Packard Deluxe Phaetom Sedan back to concourse condition. This car is 1 of only 5 known to exist in the world. When we started its matching numbers V12 engine for the first time, my uncle pulled a dime out of his pocket and stood it up on the intake manifold. That dime never moved once while the engine was ideling. When we took the car out on the road for a road test, it was by far the smoothest riding car I ever rode in. Back in the early 70's the car was valued at just over 6 figures easily back then. Not sure what it would be worth today. My uncle did a massive amount of research to restore it back to concourse condition, which included recreating all the various factory inspection paint marks on the car. When my uncle passed away in 1975 from lung cancer at age 64, he had a total of 36 vintage 1930 era Packard Automobiles in his collection, all in various stages of restoration. My aunt still owns those cars to this day and refuses to sell them because they all make her happy.

I'm an old man and I started buying Hot Rod magazine in 1948. Have always wanted a car similar to this, but it never happened--life got in the way. I understand that Chad looks at this car and he sees different than I see. He says he sees a "32 cowl and grill, two quarter panels off a '28 Ford and doors off from an old Chrysler something which he put together to mimic a hot rod built in the '50's mostly in Calif. I see it as a very good copy of the cars that were appearing in Hot Rod, CarCraft, Honk and other magazines that were published back then. The only thing to truly mimic one of those hot rods would be a nice simple paint job. They weren't using pearls or candies--- just a nice synthetic enamel, possible flames. I would surly like to see this painted. PLEASE!!!

So many nice projects. Be nice if in a perfect world they were all finished but not necessary to get the enjoyment of building & having them to look at. Very enjoyable listening to the build story for each one. Thank you!

Hey Chad and Jolene, Have you thought about backing the cars at a 45° angle, pointing towards the overhead door? Be easy to back into the spot. Easier to pull out. Most of the engines would be easily accessible. Just a thought.

Trailer suggestions: Add some small wood ramps at the back of the deck so the metal ramps don't have that lip that you struggle with to get the tires over. Add some more metal bracing underneath so the deck doesn't fall through. Actual 2*6 deck boards allow water to drain down through the cracks. Paint the deck but ADD SAND! so you don't slip. I'm glad you got your trailer, you really did need one. Good luck in 2023!

Hoping you get battery tenders and put fuel stabilizer in each vehicle. Takes some $$ and time to keep a fleet like this going. Don’t want to see them rot over the next decade or two. I really like Jolene's idea of putting the Caddy Flathead in the 32 and racing it instead of the 35 sedan. That flathead at 160 HP would then be the dominator at the drag strip against those Ford flathead V8s at 100 to 120 HP maybe. What a sleeper that would be before they figured it out. It would be a very rare Ford flathead that could make that HP! Stock Ford flathead at max was 100 HP and Mercurys were 110 HP. Go for it Jolene and show them what a flathead Caddy will do! Hi Chad. Whenever backing up a trailer, hold your hand at the bottom of the steering wheel and move your hand the way you want the trailer to go. Works every time.

Hi Chad, a lesson I learned the hard way was that the push rod that goes in the back of the master cylinder Has to have a tiny bit of play between the end of the pushrod and the piston in the master cylinder. That piston has to come all the way back until it bottoms out at the snap ring to fully release the fluid That could explain the dragging of the brakes. That trailer is a good addition to your tools!👍

As for that screw-down bonnet, you can weld washers onto the screw heads to convert them into wingnuts - no screwdriver required.

Hey Chad, I very much like the '32. It's a honest hot rod. You made do with what you had and that was just how it was done in the '50s. Scavaged parts and getting them to work together was the spirit of ingenuity. That's the way I did it in the early '70s. Thanks as always and we'll see you next time.

Mr. Chad, please consider for the hood is to put (4) screws that stick out of the hood and use 4 wingnuts to secure hood . 2 antique side mirrors on the doors would look good. 2 antique rear brake lights.

I see a lot of negative comments when you take a undesirable 4 door car and cut it up to make a desirable coupe or pickup. They say you are destroying a classic car. I have a 1930 model A build that I have been working on since we were married 25 years ago. So maybe I should try and get it together for our celebration on the 3 weekend in June this year. It looks a lot like this one. 239 flathead and 3 speed tower top truck into open driveshaft banjo rear axle . 32 Ford grill. You should bring this one back into the shop once the Bugatti is done maybe put the Caddy motor in. It would be a fun car. The nailhead I am sure you can find a project for. Its cool but the Caddy is more what they would of had in the early fifty's when the boys were returning from the war.

I really like that car. A lot of work went into that and thought.

I can imagine living far from everything it would be hard to get stuff unless you are buying it off the web? Like where I live in the California bay area there are a lot of recycle store's that sale just about anything used from auto salvaged yards to second hand store's, old building supplies from home's they dismantle to re-salvage materials and so on. People even through out a lot of good stuff and leave it out on the curve for to be picked up. Some one that is a builder/crafter can repurpose it before it hits the land fill.

Chad and Jolene Love the 32 rat rod roadster. You said you picked up the body for CAD$300.00 ? - Boy o Boy, you would not even get a door for that here in Aus. Old Fords, Chevs and Internationals and Dodges here sell for quite a bit due to the rarity And shipping from the States is now USD$ 8,000 - 10,000 for a 20 Ft container So finding and getting cars from the US or Canada is just not financially sensible right now. You have it so good there due to access and the number of guys who have hoarded paddocks full of old rusty gold. Love the show - Keep it up .

My favorite part about this build is the ragtop because it's higher in the front and lower in the back. It makes it look like she's hauling ass down the road just sitting there. I would do exactly what you said, give her to a mechanic and allow them to get her running and driving great so you and Jolene can enjoy her. Chad you truly are an amazing artist and Jolene I thank you for bringing Chad into my life.

If that was my rig, I'd grab a pair of accessory mirrors, like if I was pulling a camper with 15:21 my suv. I might even try to make 12:25 room inside so I could drive in and turn around. If I was anxious and busy enough in bad weather, to consider installing another overhead door, so I could drive in one door, drive out the other, that would be cool ... 10:56

chad you are lucky jolene doesnt have a devilish sense of humor like we did when i was a truck driver i drove semi all over the us for 32 years and lived in the truck we used to play with each other the ones we knew not straigers but we would throw a piece of 4by4 or a rock under the trlr tires and it would scare the hell out of the driver backing up and we would say just back until it sounds expensive haha

Personally I love the way the white wall tires are facing inside, it makes the whole look of the car.

A lot of comments here so I do not know if this has been said, you might want to block the front wheels on the Suburban when you jack the trailer up like that, you are taking pressure off the rear wheels which means you do not have the holding power as you would with them on the ground, even if the emergency brake is on it only works on the rear wheels

Mate that trailer is a great start, you will be able to improve it to your standard, but I'd put another support under the wheel track, so you can get rid of those slippery steal oil trays 😅 na it's always bad day when you're pushing a car and slip, also you could put a block/pully on the back end run your winch cable under the car to the pully and back to the front of the car use it to pull the car off then it could also stop it before the end of the ramps, great collection, all the best to yous and your loved ones

I watched the video of you loading the Wine Art car and it was so painful to watch you struggle working at getting that car on the trailer. I also read some great comments about rasing the front of the trailer to help straighten the incline when loading and unloading. Looking at your ramps they are curved so much the wrong way probably from heavy loads from the guy you got it from, that they also hamper loading. The ramps need to be curved up to help lift the back of the vehicle giving you better clearance as it starts the transition onto the trailer. I looks like you could cut the front mounts off your ramps, flip them over (the ramps) re-weld the mounts where they need to be then put some expanded metal back on. Your ramps will facilitate a much easier and smoother loading experience. Both of my trailers came with "bowed ramps" and I have no problem getting my lowest car on the trailers. I just recently found your channel and its great to see you and Jolene building cars again. I had wondered what happened to you and i can see it's for the better, keep up the great creativity and content.

I like it and its a truck frame lol thats cool. How much I know about thirty twos I would not have known if you didnt tell me. It sure is extra heavy. Have you watched Iron Trap Garage he is a good body man too. He has a lot of ford cars and a whole warehouse full of parts Its a big ole warehouse too with an old elevator. You should watch it he is always working on old fords eveyday.

Hand on bottom of steering wheel , trailer right move wheel to the right , use mirrors , back up slowly , hand to powleft to steer trailer. No problem no quick or fast moves , easy to do , power steering really helps ! Practice makes perfect 👌

Truly an awesome build its like it was built on a Frankenstein table all different parts and handmade what a creation can you imagine it all done wow a one of a kind that's the beauty in the art Chad if you made that cowl vacuum actuated dam that would be sick awesome!

Remember to do maintenance on the trailer wheel bearings, especially if you haul a car to far. Biggest pain in the butt if a bearing goes bad when on the road.

I dig the 32 Chad. Moss Motors really does have some cool deals! I'm restoring a 1959 MGA for my old buddy. Everything you need shows up in 2 days and it's cheap to me. Take it it easy friends. See you if I ever make it to your neck of the woods!

most people wouldn’t believe that that car is built from odds and ends. They would think it was some factory coupe with a chopped windshield frame. Each piece fits the other piece like it was that way since day one. I dig it!👍
