@@xavierrodriguez2463 the symbols meaning has nothing to do with is. Models are supposed to be accurate representations of their historical counterparts and their appearances. I understand we shouldn’t be displaying these with proudness or flying a nazi flag, but a BF-109 does not look the same without the swastika on the tail. I don’t like swastikas, buts it’s part of the plane and should be represented accurately. For example, if you took the insignia off of American ww2 planes they would look very odd and would not be accurate to their real life counterparts. @@superpizzaman5562the model is clearly not accurate. Seems like that cross is very important for you, what about the other details? Why is it not a problem that it lacks accuracy?

the storch was so light and had such a low stall speed combined with very effective slats that it could fly backwards when the wind was right.

Awesome plane! I miss the days of having a local hobby shop that sold RTF planes on consignment!
@Justwantahover9 ай бұрын
You can slow-stick it as slow as 22 mph. You could overtake it with a bicycle! That would make a good video. 😅 I think the 30 mph is clean. But the Storch has slats and slots and flaps. And that would make the stall slower.

I volunteered at my local hobby shop for my senior project, man that was awesome. I used to have an S scale layout and Richard the owner would let me take something home for my layout everyday. Sadly the store is no longer there :/

I modified a foam Cessna 172 with flaps and slats. Didn't work too well with the slats as it had a semi symetical wing. Flaps worked well though

This is a Lufftwaffe recon aircraft, and those markings are not Nazi they are iron crosses, which are being used by German armed forces. It really is no problem. That model is used to preserve history.

The swastika was actually a symbol of good luck that originated in South Asia. BTW The airport in Denver, DIA is laid out in the pattern of a swastika, no shit.
@henrytowne74639 ай бұрын
everybody calls it DIA but it is really DEN; look at your sectional map... still features segments of the chaotic baggage system!
@reggierico9 ай бұрын
@@henrytowne7463You're right! But, you can say that about dozens of major airports in this country; Lindbergh Field-SAN, etc.. The name of the airport vs. its FAA 3 letter designation. Denver International Airport, or DIA = DEN.
@henrytowne74639 ай бұрын
@@reggierico I've got binders of sectionals back to the early 70's. I know of many conflicts iatta code vs airport names. A little history... The first DIA was Stapleton for abt 65 yrs. as DEN. In 95 the second DIA opened named Denver International still FAA id DEN. It gets wilder in other countries; standards are not.

I was lucky enough to see a Storch come in to land at a small fbo. Freaky slow stall, into the wind, it looked like it just hung in the air. Roll out was a couple lengths. Should be fun to fly!

If memory serves, the leading edge slats were fixed, not variable, though they continued to be made in France post WW2 and perhaps they then made them variable
@DonMeaker6 ай бұрын
The historical (full size) Storch was a great short-take off and landing plane, greatly aided by those leading edge flaps. It was used to rescue Mussolini from a mountain hotel where he was being held. Hannah Arendt landed one on "Under den Linden" during the Battle of Berlin, to give Hitler a chance to get away.
