If it isn't obvious to other viewers, then I want to emphasis how much extra work and editing Misa has done in this video to transcribe, translate, and color-code all of her example sentences. This video is almost an hour long, but I guarantee you it probably took her 10x longer to edit and finalize this video. Kudos to her!

Duolingo is awful at explaining this type of thing. I used to find that they had a discussion bit after each sentence/lesson which had some amazing tips from other learners. But sadly they got rid of this on their last update!

I think it is sometimes useful to realize that 1) sentences that are connected with a "strong and" (strong = not the meaning of "and such" but just a pure "and") are always connected using the te-form 2) the te-form can be generalized to all word types, namely ~て for verbs 8時起きて、仕事に行った。 ~くて for i-adjectives この車は高くて、きれいです。 ~ で for na-adjectives and nouns 母は教師で、父は作家です。 so we just need to know it's always a te-form and we can just choose one of the above depending on what word type we have.

I love your videos. Have been watching for years. Even though I haven't gotten as far as the goal I set myself I have noticed I know more words and phrases when I come across them. Your videos have helped me understand the meaning and rules behind the Japanese. That's when I remember half of it. 😅 It's my own fault for taking breaks. We all go through things in our lives and people shouldn't look down on others for it. I can relate to it being difficult to reach out to someone.

Thank you Misa for your continuous effort! You are really one of a kind! ♡ The video is super helpful even if you know all these grammar because it actually compares them and adds everyday usage nuances that are quite difficult to figure out without much experience. I sometimes have been struggling myself really hard to connect the parts of the sentence into one and eventually I sometimes skipped this altogether, and just used short phrases what felt somewhat unnatural, so hopefully now I will be able to do better! Thanks a lot, Misa-sensei ♡
