Yes this is one old stereotype people still cant get through. Most large cities in Russia have drinkable water of good quality. However sometimes some particular district or building can still have old pipes and it can be useful to install a tap filter if you are not sure about the situation. Bathing, brushing teeth, washing fruits and veggies are perfectly safe anyway.

Эти фильтры - надувательство оболваненных рекламой людей . Воду для питья , следует отстаивать от хлора в большой кастрюле , положив туда серебряную ложку . Больше ее не от чего чистить . У меня две кастрюли литра по четыре , я из одной наливаю в чайник , из другой наливаю в первую , а в пустую уже наливаю из под крана . Кстати у меня вопрос , какова чистота водопроводной воды в том же Лондоне , а то сейчас много интересного узнаешь , о подлинном качестве жизни на Западе . @@katya.fromengland It is simple to install a 3 cartridge filter under the sink and a filtered water spigot for $12-15 and change cartridges every 4-7 months. There are online shops that sell replacement cartrigages for a couple dollars delivered the same day to your door

To be honest with you, I haven't explored the city too much. However, I have lived in both the centre and further out. From my experience the apartments in the centre have less large grocery shops that are nearby and less free activities to do (especially for kids). So I much prefer living further out from the centre.

Hi! Here are some tips from a Moscow citizen) So in terms of rental cost, central district and some parts of west and southwest are considered more expensive. The closer to the center - the more expensive the rent becomes. Other than that, some districts are worse than others in terms of public transport, for example it's quite hard to get to the center from Birylevo or the districts located outside of Moscow Ring Road (MKAD), such as Mytischi or New Moscow. Itis really dependent on your skill set. Few foreigners would be offered anything less than 75,000 rubles and if they had skills that were rare in Russia it could be 150,000 up to whatever you could negotiate. I never had a job in my life so naturally created my own businesses here and have 4 currently, two in incoming tourism with federal registration needed to invite foreign guests plus a special authorization to invite large Chinese tour groups visa free and visa free for any nationality if they arrive by cruise ship. My other business is a photo studio and another repairing professional audio equipment for recording studios, venue sound systems and musician equipment. My 2 person cost of living is about 120,000 rubles a month for a very active social and cultural life. Back home in the US it would be impossible to duplicate the cultural and social life but with a more constrained social life and essentially no cultural life, my monthly cost of living was 800,000 rubles a month and I owned my main home outright. So it all depends on your interests and adaptability. Do not try to duplicate a foreign lifestyle because it will be very expensive and a lot less fun. Don't drive everywhere or even had a car, it is not needed and actually reduces your personal freedom. My Russian friends who save up and buy a car end up staying at home all the time like Americans do. There is zero tolerance for drinking and driving so they stop going out to socialize or attend cultural performances like they did before having a car. I never would have met them if they owned cars all along. There is no reason to move to Russia if one is going to sit at home.
