Ok, since this musical isn't available at all in english and barely available in german, I decided to upload it to YT so everybody can enjoy it.
I tried my best to translate everything from german to english so everyone can enjoy it.
Also, since translated everything myself, there will probably be a lot of mistakes. Please tell me when you find them so I can fix them.
Songs in this part:
-Prologue
-When Love is True
-Raise a Glass
-A Story Told
-I Will Be There
-Is there any news?
-Everyday a Little Death
I do not own any content here, I just added the subtitles.

No, I just guessed the lyrics ;) In all seriousness though, I'm from Austria, so german is my native language. I tried to translate it as well as possible so everyone can enjoy this musical, but there might still be some mistakes in there, so I'd be happy if you tell me when you find something that sounds ... odd.

Alright...so I'm listening to the musical version of a book that was originally written in French, by a French author over a hundred years ago, set mostly in France nearly two hundred years ago, and starring mostly French characters who spoke French; I know the story from the American-made film in 2002 (American actors, speaking English)...and this version of the musical, to which I know most of the English lyrics from a series of animatics that cast the characters of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (an American cartoon made in Canada) into the play, is in German, performed by German actors, who also speak English well enough that I had no idea they were German, and was undoubtedly performed in Germany. What a strange train of events that led me here. :/

+Count Monsparkle Hi, thanks for your reply. 😊 Thomas Borchert is positively exquisite! I love the way he carries himself; no matter the role, he brings grace and class to all of his characters. And his voice...OMG, it's just amazing! It would be a dream come true to see him perform, live. Unfortunately, I live in the U.S., so I doubt that dream will ever be realized. However, one never knows for certain. There's always hope. :) Again, thank you so much for the upload and translation! 😊 Have a wonderful day! 😀

vShaede I always try to answer to all of my comments =) It's really interesting to me that Thomas Borchert has so many fans all over the world, even though most of his performances are in german. And who knows, it's not that unlikely that Thomas Borchert won't make a tour through America sooner or later. I know he already made a Japan-tour a while ago, and I think it was a pretty big hit. And he's friends with the big american composer Frank Wildhorn, so I wouldn't be surprised if Thomas will eventually perform in the states.

+Count Monsparkle It's funny; it all started because I was searching for Michael Crawford's "Total Eclipse of the Heart", back in 2010. Thanks to KZfaq's "Recommendations" section, clips of the late Steve Barton playing Krolock, kept showing up. Of course, curiosity got the better of me, and I was amazed to hear him singing in German. I also never realized just how powerful his voice was. - He left us way too soon; such a loss. :( Anyway, Steve's clips eventually led me to Thomas Borchert, to whom I've been addicted for the last 5 years. ;) And I'm overwhelmingly grateful to kind people like you, who take the time to add English subtitles! :) If Wildhorn should ever decide to make a musical out of "Wuthering Heights", Thomas B. would be phenomenal as Heathcliff. Just the idea of him in that role gives me chills. (lol)

Yes, it's true. Thomas Borchert is one of the most talented german actors, and I was really surprised too when I found out that his english voice doesn't even have a hint of an accent.

Thank you oh so much, this is such a pleasure to finally be able to view! Ah I still hope that one day they'll produce a full fledged English film adaptation of this musical or complete it in its entirety in English as it looked like they were close to doing. Until then, this is such a marvelous gift you've given all of us who want to enjoy the musical! Thank you very much for your effort!

I only just discovered that this musical even existed this month! I feel like it wasn't advertised much at all or I was just completely unaware, like so many of my other friends who would have absolutely adored this. I feel like it could have been such an immense hit. I honestly don't understand why theater is like that, what a shame so many performances are lost to time! Hopefully they'll one day realize that recording and selling a copy of the performance will only benefit and spread it's popularity and profitability. Ah well. We can dream that Monte Cristo will come to the stage again :)

Honestly, there's a bunch of amazing european musicals that never make it to Broadway, and if one does, it gets horribly altered to the point of not being the same musical anymore. I'm really not a fan of Broadway, and that's one reason why =/

No you’re not the only one. I feel like there’s so much more they could’ve done, like I imagine the three of them standing by the fire in one of their houses or at a tavern like in the book and burning the letter while doing some really intense choreography as they pace the room conspiring their plan. This staging was such a let down

I'm not sure how I feel about the plotting scene taking place after the engagement party. One the one hand the beginning should be happy and this lets us have a happy moment before the drama, but on the other the plotting before is book-accurate and gives the audience a sense of foreshadowing.

BloodyRomance1313 They probably had to change the order of events since Villefort wouldn't even have a reason to conspire with the other two before the interogation scene. It's probably best if you don't compare the musical/movie too much with the book since there' a lot of changes (otherwise it would've been impossible to fit it all into a 2h-adaptation). otherwise you will be very disapointed by this.

Hi! I know it's been a lot of time since you uploaded these videos, but I'd like to ask if you could turn on adding subtitling for all parts of The Count of Monte Cristo? I really care about seeing this with my mother, but unfortunately she is not particularly fluent in English (similarly with me, but I have a person who would be able to help me with translation), so the option of adding a translation would be very useful. I think that not only I would benefit. I will be very grateful for your reply and have a nice day/night! ^^
