Kat Matthews has announced her comeback race will be Ironman Texas next month!

I can’t wait to see your comeback Kat. I got hit by a truck cycling a week after you were hit. I broke 4 vertebrae, broke my ribs, full broken pelvis, displaced femur and broken femoral neck, broken arm. You have inspired me while I was in the hospital for three months and now as I have been walking again for a month. Thanks. Can’t wait to see you toe the line!

I've love watching your posts right from when you started the sport and hearing your story! I trained out in Lanzarote late 90's, so a lot of the filming i could see places that I had trained. The road in to Playa Blanca is fast!! and Fire Mt Climb. I'm 21 years, living with a Spinal Cord Injury T6 and was injured while training for a Triathlon in the UK. Kat as you state life can change in a split second for sure. I moved to Australia 18 months after accident to study Sport Science and still love the sport of Triathlon as a Para Athlete - Completed Noosa, Sunshine Coast 70.3 and a few HB100 (love this race) Weather is a little better in Aus that UK Sorry! Watching the 2 episodes, I'm happy to see you back in action and back training - Looking forward to watching you compete in the coming month and one day back in Konda for sure. If you are ever on the Sunshine Coast (Mooloolaba or Noosa) would love to shout you a coffee. Stay strong Kat Matthews.

So awesome to see Kat at the Oceanside Ironman, and I got to run along with a woman who tore her ACL and meniscus 6 months ago. Between them and Lucy Charles-Barkley with her recovery, there are some truly remarkable and inspirational women in this sport 👏👏. I'll continue to admire them from 3 hours behind 😆

I thought I knew the answer to that until I watched these videos, now I’m not so sure. How incredible is Kat Matthews? The fire in her belly must be RAGING. Answers on a post card please.

Great real video Kathy and thanks for sharing such an awful experience just before your likely standout performance @ Kona 2022? : ( But you need to disassociate from this Numb-nut of a so call friend (Jack S.) when he states: "......when you think someone is dead, there is nothing you can do....." ".....what happens now?....." You Idiot!!!, You freaking start "PRAYING" immensely for your friend's well being even though you have just witnessed the horrible incident that took her down on the streets of Conroe, Texas!!!!!!! Jake S., take a lesson from Herr Patrick Lange; listen to his statement: ".....there was this puddle of Blood, ....kept growing, and I was just actually "PRAYING" ...this blood puddle stops growing....!" And Kathy, sad to say you give this vibe in your statements such as: "....by Tuesday morning I was fed up, and wanted to get out of there...." How about given KUDOS to the medical emergency TEAM that put you back together in one SOLID PIECE? So you could potentially come back to racing form again!!!! Btw Kathy, Memorial Hermann- Texas Medical Center provides leading edge care in heart, neuroscience, orthopedics, women's health, general surgery, organ transplantation and much more, not to mention, it is one of only two certified Level 1 trauma centers in the greater Houston area. It provides 24/7 emergency and trauma care, and they have the Memorial "Hermann Life Flight" which provides emergency rescue within a 150 (that would be 241.4km) mile radius, so if your tragic accident had occurred at 240 km away from "HOSPITAL" as you would say it, they would still have treated you with excellence as they did!!! And sure was a dumb move going to Hawaii, you should have gone back home and been with Family and Friends and hubby who LOVE you. Praying that upon your return to Memorial-Hermann Ironman Texas this April 2023, and if you do well perhaps post race activities, you should return to "Hospital" and give them your "Finisher" medal as a small token of appreciation for "The Hospital" saving your life and piecing you back together, especially the ear, be thankful that you did not suffer any vestibular issues after that accident!!!!! If I am capable of traveling there from the West Coast, I will be there to support you and "PRAYING" that all participants have a wonderful PB event at Houston, Texas 140.6 event!!!! GG! i do recommend the book "The Perfect Mile" of Sir Eric Liddel. GG! All Da Best Kathy & Marc!

Go Kat! The editing for these videos is a bit annoying and dramatic. There are better ways to tell a story than just using loud sound effects and abrupt cuts to the interviews.
