1:50 that's a pretty standard old thermos, it has thick walls and the lid is a cup. It actually carried less than youd think, but it was popular for construction workers and other people who work ou tr side, and its size also made it popular for sharing with others. My dad used this same thermos for 30 years

At the actual Crater Lake National Park in Oregon, there is a terrific Native American folktale regarding an enormous, man-eating CRAYFISH that inhabits the lake. Now THAT would make a damn good creature feature. A normal crayfish is terrifying enough. I don't know why someone hasn't made THAT movie yet. (Asylum Studios, don't you dare!)

I own & absolutely LOVED this movie from the moment I popped it in & saw the opening scenes. What attracted me, is I've always been interested in lake monster legends, even though I'm a huge skeptic on the subject. When I discovered the existence of this movie, I had to own it, & luckily, not long afterwards, found a copy at a local grocery store. Lol, I never even noticed the problematic day for night segments, until you pointed them out in this video, lol. I know that I loved the campy & cheesy acting, & especially loved the stop motion lake monster. I think it looks glorious!!

Yeah, the monster was all like " Wait. What? You're just gonna ruin a good boat? Why? You know what, I'm not even feelin' this shit now..I'm out." [While leaving, speaking to self] "Honestly! He sets the boat on fire?! I swear, Man...Some people.."

I’m a life-long Oregonian. I can say the characters and their behavior in this film seem very true to life. You may want to check your facts about the production problems. Everything in the movie may simply be from the perspective of the characters in Oregon. Also, skullet is the word I didn’t know I’ve been wanting to say my entire life.

i have come back almost exactly one year from the upload date, just to confirm that those thermoses are a very common thing, among long-haul truck drivers, people who wish they were long-haul truck drivers, and people who drive little pick-ups, mistakenly refer to them as "trucks" and who often are responsible for bringing coffee to work crews who might be loggers, fire fighters, road construction, heavy machine operators, or truck drivers. It always comes back to trucks, apparently. O and the one in the movie looks like it might hold 1.89l or 2 quarts. They look big but the inner insulated part is not as big as the outer shell.

Three thoughts: 1) 2:45 - A pipe is glasses for the mouth. Even if they aren't using them, the character supposedly looks smart. 2) I need that white fisherman's sweater at 6:11. Looks cozy. 3) If they ever do a remake, I suggest John C. Reilly as Arnie and Todd Barry as Mitch.

GoodBadFlicks I need to see this for two reasons: One when I was in elementary school I had a monster movie trailer compilation on VHS and the trailer for this movie was in it and two Oregon is my home state (I also found out that the phantasm movies are supposed to be set in oregon too oddly enough) . Incidentally I currently live in Idaho and I recently got to see the first horror movie set Idaho "The Being" which I believe was from the same director as "Blood Diner" (And thank you so much Cecil for introducing me to that movie I absolutely love it ! I knew there was a reason I never got around to this one as a kid. I would’ve been so pissed when that T-Rex looking thing on the box, turned out to be the neck of a small plesiosaur most of the time. It is funny that they just rushed to kill it, instead of attempting to contain it, I mean it’s just a living dinosaur. And it wasn’t much bigger than an elephant. Hicks.

Markus Nävergård - Obvious explanation: it’s the last of its kind, which continued to evolve for the 65 million years between the extinction of the dinosaurs (and the plesiosaurs) and the present.
@markusnavergard2387
@markusnavergard2387 6 жыл бұрын
that makes no sense. Individuals do not evolve, this not pokemon. even if it was in suspended animation for 65 millions years that would not make it evolve over that time.
@ajpod770
@ajpod770 6 жыл бұрын
Markus Nävergård - I said “they”, as in it’s species. I doubt an egg could remain in suspended animation at the bottom of a lake for 65 million years, so I assumed that there used to be a breeding population in the lake (seeing as that’s a much more believable origin for the egg, though I do realize the irony that I’m saying this about a B movie). After all, the movie does open with the characters finding cave paintings depicting other Crater lake monsters, so it couldn’t have been the only one.

2:08 Only in the '70s would someone wear a vest over a long-sleeve button-front shirt with half the top buttons undone and no undershirt. The proper way to wear that getup (which is still a popular style for its rugged utility), in a more weather-appropriate fashion, is with an undershirt and with all the buttons fastened except for the top one. Typically, that means six out of seven buttons.

I've always wondered if, with today's technology, somebody could go over a movie like this and toss on the missing effects and make it better. Or would that make it worse because this is in the "so bad it's good" category. I know a re-edit can't happen without missing scenes and a lot of sound work, but a day-for-night filter and a bit of work on the monster to make it blend better, a few extra splashes and Sound FX...
