Pains me that I won’t ever have the chance to experience this with such a legend. You’re very lucky to have had the opportunity and share your experience with many.

Me and a mate cycled from Harlow to Auldley End in the middle of the night to pick up some gear in the late 90's, totally unplanned, and quite the adventire! If we'd planned it we wouldn't have bothered as it was totally ridiculous, and dangerous too, cycling on country lanes in total darkness...

I was also lucky enough to get a lap with Sabine in the V10 BMW. The speed she chose to slide round some corners with one hand out of the window waving at some camera men was quite astounding. She chose to share this piece of wisdom with my friends and I after these drifts, "Life's too short for front wheel drive."

Awesome story that. I also went to the ring in 2005/06 in an Astra 888 (the fast diesel one). I was driving around the Carousel and what I thought was absolute limit........and Sabine came drifting around me, giving a friendly wave as she did......what a lady. Did also work with her a few years later and what a legend, what a loss.

Cool story. I remember standing next to her at the Porsche stand at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on the launch of the GT2RS. Really wanted to ask what she thought of it, but didn't want to hassle her. Really wish I'd said something now. What a driver.

I will never forget the video in which Sabine races the Transit around the Ring. Ok, she did not beat Clarkson's time in the Jag, but she was very, very fast. In one bend she did pass a motor cyclist, on the outside, amazing! Sabine was amazing, she is sadly missed.

This sounds shockingly similar to my first visit to the 'ring circa 2004, tragically minus the ring taxi bit. I took a free weekend while I was going to school in Kassel for the summer and took a train/taxi down with a classmate. The struggle was real figuring out where you should go to see/do things around the track with the website such as it was at the time and no smartphone GPS. We did at least get to see some neat stuff because there was a DTM race that weekend on the GP track. We tried to mooch a seat in the taxi but they sadly weren't running the day we visited.
